Terrible customer service from the owner/manager. 1st- Would not let us use the gift card we got for Christmas that someone paid cash for.... could not use toward tipping the waitress. Waitress did not even bring us the bill or inform us to go up to the register till we flagged her over to our table and we were the only customers in the building. Service was slow. It was our first time there. We had to ask a different waitress to explain to us info about the food and the proper way to cook it. It was suppose to be all you can eat and we kept having to flag the waitress down to get her to bring us more as each plate she brought got smaller and smaller. By the last time a different person brought us more meat as we were waiting to cook it and irritated at the crappy service we only ended up eating half and wanting to leave. Asked for boxes for the rest and the owner comes out yelling at us! Telling us we have to pay for our leftovers and telling us we should know how much food to eat so their was no leftovers! I was beyond disappointed with my first experience. They have AMAZING food however the crappy customer service makes me not want to go back. Its too bad cause if they were not so rude I would have never gotten on here to say anything but the owner had no sense to keep a customer coming back. Dont have an all you can eat advertisement if your going to lecture your customers and give crappy service after the first plate you serve them. Every plate after the first one was barely enough for my 22 month old son. No customer should have to feel like they are inconveniencing you to keep flagging you down for an all you can eat dinner. Rude!

The main reason I go to a restaurant is to eat good food, and thats where Emonae shines. The problem when I went recently was the service. While they did seem busy, so I cant knock them to hard, we had to wait 20 min to be seated even when there was a table open and they said they would seat us there in a minute. Then we waited about 20 min for water and silverware and my meal came out way before the rest of my tables. Im talking 30 minuets before the rest of the table. Our server, while swamped seemed frazzled but thats alright, what I didnt like hearing was the other staff yelling at her for being a little slow with our stuff. Overall, I loved the food at Emonae, and the atmosphere was great, but the way they treated their employees and how mediocre the service was I can only rate them for having stellar good and no points for service.

Wonderful food and an enjoyable experience! My daughter and her roommate go there often and said that it is their favorite place to eat in Grand Rapids. They love to introduce friends to this resturant. We had the "All you can eat" barbeque. They bring three out of your five choices of the raw marinaded meats with assorted vegetables on a platter to your table. You cook them on the grill built into your table. The choices of meats and vegetables vary each time they go and are replaced generously. Great appetizer choices. The girls keep intending to try other dishes for dinner but usually enjoy the AYCE barbeque. They frequently order and pick up lunch there because the food is great and prices reasonable. The owners and staff are friendly and remember you and your favorites.

Im commenting only on their BBQ table food options. Compared to a number of other Korean bbqs weve been to much of the food here lacked flavor. The sides were actually good but the meat and chicken were unremarkable. I wouldnt go again. That said I saw others with dolsot bibimbop and it looked good. So....maybe worth a try but Id steer clear of the BBQ tables until they improve the flavor of their meats. Other Korean bbqs offer spicy chicken and pork and marinated ribeye thats far more enjoyable. (These are in the Detroit and Novi areas). Ambiance was also lacking and our server seemed disinterested. Theyre still new and hopefully will improve but today was a miss for us.

I love the BBQ at Emonae. Everything is so tasty and addictive. Seafood Pancakes are great but, $11 and have squid. First time Ive had squid and it didnt kill my appetite. All you can eat BBQ is good value at $22/person, dont like that extra is charged for things like lettuce to put your rice and meat on. Also they cannot serve beer yet which is kind of a staple at such a social place like a Korean BBQ place. Still definitely worth your time if youre looking to try a new cultural spin on American tradition. You grill your meat right at the table, or you can order kitchen grilled dishes. Either way, Emonae is worth the money overall.

Tried Emonae a few days ago with some friends. Overall, the food is great. However, our server was a little confusing and couldnt really explain everything to us. Being that it was our first time, we were a little unsure of what everything was and our waiter was not helpful. However, the other waitress that was there was more than helpful and explained everything to us. We chose to grill our own food and had a great time. The food tasted great and we will go back. All the sides and accompaniments were great too. Just make sure that you ask questions and if you happen to get the same waiter, then just ask anyone else.

Best Korean food in GR hands down. Eaten there 5 times already and dont what all these haters are talking about here on for the reviews but obviously they know nothing about Korean food. Bulgogi is OUTSTANDING AT EMONAE!!! To the person than said they paid $50 for lunch bulgogi? What are you nuts? Its $7 at lunch and $14.99 at dinner and the portions are HUMONGOUS! What the heck did you order to get $50 worth of food? That is a ton of food at Emonae Korean BBQ. Tried the All You Can Eat BBQ and it is AMAZING AND SO FILLING I WAS IN a FOOD COMA. Dont believe the haters and go there, it is DEFINTELY WORTH IT!

I love Korean food, and i was excited when this place opened in GR, but the service is incredibly bad here. The food is delicious but every time i eat here i constantly find myself having to get up and flag someone down if i need anything. I understand if it is busy but, I went in today and there were only a couple other tables. The waiter had an attitude with me and at a Korean bbq restaurant service is essential to the experience because you will need to order more meats, side dishes, rice etc. Overall, excellent food, but i hope they drastically improve the service here.

When ordering food they want to rip you off as much as possible. Say you order chicken for the grill. They give the greens. Say you Order chicken and shrimp for the grill. They only give out one order for both entries. I asked for my second pair of greens to go and I didnt get them. The total wait time to eat is about an hour. Slow or busy. Its an hour or more. The meats are not pre marinaided. If they are. Something is wrong. Great food. Horrible service. Dont go unless you have patience. Again. Worst service ever.
