Id never been the The Original Pancake House before today but, as it was Veterans Day and I a veteran, I decided to swing by for their Veterans Day offering: an unrestricted choice from the menu on the house. (Get it? "On the house?" Pancake House.... Ah, never mind) Even though it was about 8:30 on a Friday morning and although I was alone I had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated. Id expect that sort of wait on a Saturday or Sunday, but Friday? Sure, its smack dab in the middle of the Tech Center and many people looked like they were out for a "work breakfast," but that excuse didnt mitigate the surprise wait. Since it is mid-November I wasnt thrilled to be seated outside even though I chose "first available" when checking in. I really thought theyd find a small two person table for me somewhere in a corner, not a four person table in the chill morning air - but that was okay. After my wait the air had warmed up enough that sitting in the sun was quite comfortable. The waiter brought me a tiny glass of water and I asked if there were larger glasses. He said, "Not for water." I then informed him he was going to be making a lot of refill trips. And he did. What can I say, I drink a lot of water. I ordered the Sausage (patties) and Eggs (over medium) plate that came with three "fluffy pancakes" and some sort of diced potatoes. The eggs were smaller than I was expecting. Maybe I shop at Costco too much, but I was really thought a breakfast joint would have "large" eggs. Nor were they cooked over medium. Over easy, maybe. Over medium? No. The two sausage patties were okay, if a bit dry. They had a hint of spiciness to them which was good. The potatoes were ... meh. And the pancakes didnt live up to the hype. Were they fluffy? Sure. Were they life altering? No. The big question is: would I drive the four miles to this place in the future? And I have to say, No. There is nothing here that is better than any other closer and/or less expensive establishments. Maybe the ambience of the dining room, but I didnt sit in the dining room, so I wouldnt know, would I? My server was friendly and attentive, but it wasnt hard to be so with my simple order by myself.

I came this morning with a guest to have a nice quiet breakfast on patio. After being sat for 10 minutes with no greeting and no coffee all the while watching two waiters service the other surrounding tables, completely ignoring us. I had to return back to hostess stand to ask why I havent been greeted yet. Finally, the waiter came over and took our order. When the food arrived it was incomplete and he still kept ignoring us with no coffee refills, condiments, even syrup. However he kept servicing the other tables and ignoring us. We even had to get up and pour our own coffee and my fiancés food was also burnt. Again I asked for correct service and still didnt receive any service. Just as busy as the manager that is taking the time to read this, I to am very busy. I too value my time. Im highly annoyed Im having to leave to head to pancake house in cherry hills. Before leaving I spoke to the manager and she did absolutely NOTHING. Showed zero skills in management, customer service and communication. Needless to say, we will NEVER return. On a side note, my fiancé and I are a mixed couple and were the only mixed couple as I was the only black man in the restaurant. We were the only ones being ignored. Makes one wonder. So here we are 90 minutes later at the Pancake house in Cherry Hills getting the best service while writing this review on DTC. Whatever is happening in DTC let it stay there. Cherry Hills pancake house is our home. We will NEVER return to DTC. Good luck and good riddance!

I dont usually review places, however I think this place needs to be knocked down a little. The orange juice was outstanding, watch for seeds, since it is hand squeezed. My wife and I decided to check this place out since we were in the neighborhood, and they had great reviews. The food was eh, good size portions. The bacon was pretty good, scrambled eggs were undercooked and had odd taste, like they are poured out of a milk carton. Biscuits seemed undercooked and doughy. The potatoes were not the way we like potatoes, they are made with a southwest flavor, and it does not say this on the menu. The regular pancakes had a weird consistency and were very dry. The coffee taste old, we used nearly the whole cup of cream to cover up the stale taste. Over easy eggs were undercooked, the egg whites were still runny. The gravy had a good flavor, but had a little kick as far as spice. My wife doesnt eat much spice and didnt really eat her meal/biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs and southwest style potatoes. I did not like any of my meal except for the bacon, I had bacon scrambled eggs southwest style potatoes and pancakes. We probably only finished 1/4 of our food, yet paid for all of it!! We dont like to complain about things, but we should have been offered something when the waitress sees basically all of our food still sitting there and we take none of it with us. Waste of $45.00.

Delicious breakfast and brunch in Greenwood Village. If youre expecting to get right and get seated especially on a Saturday or Sunday try Dennys or IHOP. The Original Pancake House typically has a 30-45 minute wait and sometimes its longer. They do offer coffee and water while you wait. For me coffee is essential as it allows me to relax while I wait for my name to be called. When the weather is nice they do have patio seating. There is also a community table if you dont mind sharing space (and most people dont eat off your plate). My favorite dish is their omelette. There are many options and I love their green chile on top of whatever I get. I always get cheese inside and when you cut into this ginormous plate sized dish the cheese oozes out like a fountain of happiness. I do enjoy the veggie omelette as it is not as heavy as some of the other options but this is not healthy folks. A side of three buttermilk pancakes comes on the side with hot butter and can be topped with syrup. I love their OJ as it is fresh squeezed and has a ton of pulp in it. If youre not into pulp its not for you.

Mediocre breakfast and high prices. We decided to try one of their Denver omelettes (a simple dish thats hard to mess up) and were served something the consistency of fluffy snot. My husband is not a picky eater in any way, but neither of us could stand more than a couple bites. The omelettes here are baked which makes them VERY puffy (to the point that they dont even register as the consistency of an egg) and leaves them extremely soggy in the center. I had banana pancakes that were decent and their coffee was tasty. I wouldve given them 2 stars but at the end of our meal when the waitress asked if we wanted a box for our omelette (because we hadnt eaten most of it) and we told her we didnt actually like it, they refunded us the $15 for the omelette and brought out a replacement meal of scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes for $12. Therefore, their customer service earned them an extra star in my eyes. I can just think of so many places in Denver that have MUCH better food (ex. Jelly Cafe, Four Friends Kitchen, Jus Grill) that its hard for me to recommend TOPH.
