A friend and I dined at Dusties on July 17th . it was his first time there, my second time . The food was okay, but it could have been better. The chicken was dry, and the silver was both picked over and dirty! On that day it just seemed different and unkept, for it to be a soul food or any food establishment. My thoughts were confirmed when a roach was seen crawling on the salad bar, and by the bin where the muffins and rolls were. They were also seen in the bathroom as well. We were constantly swating away flies to keep them from landing on plates and cups. How can you possibly enjoy a meal, while fanning flies!? I was so disgusted by those events, I just left, and never looked back. That place needs to be disinfected and exterminated. I just feel some kind of way about paying that type of money and eating in an establishment with those conditions. The intentions were good, but the issues are a health hazard, and quite disgusting! I just wanted to be both honest and to give a heads up. I wish I had have read the reviews the first time, there wouldnt have been a second time...

Me and my family went on 4/18 and the experience was one that I wanted to end very fast. When first arriving the girl who was suppose to be the cashier had to hold a converstation with everyone before she could even talk to us. Then once we paid for 4 people we paid 84 dollars for less than great food. Needless to say we dont worry about how much we spend but we expect a certain quality when getting food and expect the service to be great. I feel if this is your job than you should aleast do it. The food that they had was very limited in what they served and was not the best cooked for soul food. People had to ask over and over for the same thing that took to much time and the food just wasnt great to taste or to really look at. So saying this little spill of what i feel and me having more to say but I think you can understand how bad the food and the service is and I wouldnt never tell anyone to go to the resturant or go back myself.

We were traveling for a dance competition from Wisconsin. After a busy day of sightseeing, we came into Dusties for a late afternoon lunch. The hostess recognized that we were new to the restaurant and gave us a tour. As my family of 5 with kids ages 12, 10, 8 walked through, the kids immediately began pointing out food that they would eat so we decided to stay. After we paid, the manager came over and immediately refunded us 10% per adult and gave the kids a full refund! We were pleasantly suprised by the savings and were even more surprised by the quality of the food. My kids ate collard greens and catfish as well as their traditional favorites. I ate Cornbread and beans, greens and catfish as well as the carribean jerk chicken....awesome. We were totally amazed at the hospitality and how comfortable we felt at this restaurant. We will definately go again!!!!

I visited Dusties on 2/15/10 for probably the tenth time in my life. And the food was absolutely terrible. The grill was closed but of course they still charged me full price $32 for two people to eat. The fish was undercooked and could have killed me, it was rubbery and nasty. There was only chicken backs and thighs available no white meat at all. They ran out of Mac and Cheese before I got some. Over have of the soda machine was Out of Order. The ice cream machine was broken and they were giving away little cheap Aldis brand icecream that they already had prescooped into small contaniers, like a tablespoon for each guest. Ive visited Dusties several times in the past 5 years, taken my parents, this place has gone south, its a terrible place to eat, and the staff is unprofessional and unhelpful.

Horrible in every way. I dont know how theyre still in business. I should call the food inspector. They should be CLOSED DOWN. ASAP 6/19/13 @10:47 WE ATE THERE AS A GROUP AFTER A FUNERAL 2 MOS AGO. AWFUL FOOD. SLIM CHOICES TO PICK FROM. MANAGER SHOULD BE FIRED ALONG WITH EVERY AWFUL WORKER. THEYRE LAZY FAT BORED .OVER TALKING OVER PAY NON WORKERS. TAKE A BATH & PUT ON FRESH CLOTHES. TALK LESS . DO MORE AROUND THE PLACE. & FIND NEW COOKS & NEW STAFF. FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. OR JUST CLOSE DOWN. PLEASE. HEALTH INSPECTOR. MUST BE PAID OFF. The food was very nasty the chicken was half raw, the Cabbage was hard as well as the greens, the cake was salty the dressing was dry everything was just totally nasty at this restaurant. I told the manager he explained to me that everyone loved his food and I said back to him I dont see how anyone could love that food the food was absolutely terrible. I will never eat at dusties again . I have told everyone I know do not go to dusties. The black eyes peas taste spoiled. My total was $35 for two people and we did not get a chance to eat anything it was a waste of money I could have went to McDonalds and got a value meal and then just as satisfied for $7 opposed to $35 and the sad part about it the manager did not offer a partial refund nor a refund

If you want a Real Homemade Soul Food. Do NOT go to Dusties, it taste like Old Country Buffet. Better off going to Precillas Soul Food at Westchester, IL (West Suburb) or Chicago Chicken & Waffles on King Drive in Chicago. They are way super better than Dusties. Anywhere at South Suburbs has Poor Customer Service. No wonder the other one didnt last at Calumet City and never rebuild other one on Sibley where it burned down at. Better off going to Golden Corral (Shererville, Indiana) or Ponderosa (Gary, Indiana)

I hate this damn place they food salty n nasty they should be ashame of themselves this place need to be closed down I rather eat a frozen pizza then to eat they food ever again the cashier was awkward on the phone her ass need to be at home. I hate that Google had me to pick a star. Because I would of gave them none they dont deserve a restaurant. Dusties u want never ever get my money again. And then yall pricey. Smh its not worth it yall PLEASE DONT WASTE YALL MONEY. ZERO STARS

Just about everything i ate was great except the ribs. They were just decent. And the coffee was good. Thats the extent of the pleasantries. The peach cobbler was bland and the bread pudding was an embarrassment. Whomever had the idea to put coconut in the bread pudding shouldnt be anywhere near any dessert! Also there were flies hovering over the wrapped desserts.....just sad. Ramsay would have a field day....smh.
