First, I want to explain why I gave two stars when the experience EASILY couldve been five stars. The service was HORRIBLE. We were given cursory service, and then virtually ignored. We watched other tables... The servers checked in with the Pakistani families there, but ignored us. They walked by, looked straight at our empty dishes, and continued walking. No one came to see how the food was, or if we wanted anything else. There were no smiles, and friendliness was NON-EXISTENT. It felt like they were doing us a favor by allowing us to eat their food, when we had plenty of other options. Speaking of the food, it was delicious. We had the chicken biryani and chicken tikka masala with garlic naan, and it was excellent. However, given the extremely poor service we were provided (no one bothered to even bring us our check), Im doubtful we would ever be back.

Excellent food. I love it. Their tandoori platter is really good. The Nihari is also very good but the quantity is a little low as compared to other places. The Biryani is ok (not too good). Ras malai and Gajar ka halwa (Sweet dishes ) are really good. This place is a little conjusted but the owners are extending it. Its always good to call them 10 minutes before reaching there in order to save time and space. In Ramadan its really a good place for Iftar. The staff is very friendly and the average price of food especially the lunch menus are very affordable and normal as compared other places. Dont miss the Friday Pulllo. Its awesome. The only thing I miss over here is a buffet but based on the number of customers and good food with very good price I believe they dont really need it.

I was introduced to this by my non Indian/Pakistani friends. We took a whole group of coworkers here, who come from a mixed background. Asian, Hispanic, African American, White. Everyone loved the food, it appeals to all people, no matter what background. The service was good, and if you are unfamiliar with the cuisine, they will help you choose what to get. Everything is great, from the chicken dishes. I come from a Pakistani background and convinced my coworkers to try the goat curry. Even people who didnt like goat were pleasantly amazed. There was no funky smell, and it was extremely tasty. Other dishes my non Indian/Pakistani friends like are the Saag Aloo (which is the Spinach/Potato dish). The tandoori mixed grill is to die for, as well as the Chicken Tikka Masala.

Best curries and tandoori meats I ever found. Al Watan also has a halal butcher shop next door, and the quality of the meat served in the restaurant shows they know what they are doing. The mixed tandoori grill (chicken tandoori, chicken tikka, beef tikka, and kebob) is fabulous. The Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Quorma are my favorite curries, or maybe the Jalfrezie ... or the Karahi ... or ... man they are all so good. The spices are intense by default, I dont need to ask them to kick it up like at most places. Ive been to hundreds of Pakistani/Indian restaurants in the US and England ... this is the jewel of them all. Thanks for all the hard work guys.

Food was really good. We ordered the garlic naan with lamb curry, and the lamb chops. The wait for the food wasnt too long. The staff were nice. The restaurant is quite long and we ended up sitting on the very far end and it was pretty busy despite being a weeknight. I wasnt sure if they realized we were waiting so I had to go to the front to make sure. Luckily they have menus stuck underneath the glass on the tables so we were able to order right away. The lamb chops came on a hot plate and was so good. The mango lassi was also pretty good. There is street parking and parking in the adjacent parking lot if you can find it.

Get there on Friday night. Order Friday night special lamb over rice and garlic nan. The foods are good and generous in portion. A bit pricey for a single person on budget. (Lunch/Dinner special is a good bargain) A group doing the family style will average out the cost since the portions are big. A typical down side, as usual for most culturally Indian oriented restaurant, is the food smell on clothes and hair after 30minutes long exposure in the restaurant. Overall: highly recommended.

Halal meat is served here. Owners are known Muslims. This place has been in business for almost 30 years, so it must be good! Was very impressed with the Nihari as well as the chicken tikka (I had the mixed kebab plate which has a little bit of everything). The naans were great, as was the mango lassi. Chai was good too. Friendly service. They also have a musalla next door in case you need to do prayers. I recommend this place if you are in the area. I hope to be back again soon!

The food was wonderful and the service was even better. They brought out the food quickly and sizzling and checked on how we were doing multiple times. We forgot something and they ran out to our car to give it to us. I would totally go back for the amazing food and service. The employees were outstandingly kind and helpful. I would recommend getting the chicken tikka and the chicken tikka masala. 10/10 recommend!!

This is, hands-down some of the best food Ive ever had in Los Angeles, after living here for nearly 6 years. Everything is so incredibly flavorful, with big portions, and best of all: affordable. For around $10 each, you and a friend can have a pretty good meal. I personally loved the different types of naan and was impressed by the mango lassi (a MUST get). Will definitely be coming back here again

"Tandoori resturant" yet nothing here is cooked in a tandoor, they give you tap water, says coke on the menu I got a Pepsi. The Tandoori chicken tastes more bland than white people food, at least they rub a leaf or stick a lemon in the chickens butt. They managed to burn pre-cooked Naan and the mint sauce is in a ketchup bottle. I dont know how people even call this Indian food or even eat here.

What is not to love about Al Watan tandoori restaurant. Very good food, very good service, clean bathrooms, and even have designated prayer area both for men and women. We tried four dishes and all were excellent. Fresh wonderful naan and tasty sweet lassi. Maghz masala was absolutely out of this world. Food was so good that I decided to go to the counter to thank the chef.

I arrived 15 min before closing and even that they dont hurry me. When the food arrives was delicious. I order Lamb Korma with rice and one of the best garlic naan I tasted. The place is authentic Indian and Pakistan Cusine. At 10:20pm I order Gulab Jamun and was very good! 5 star for the food and service.

Authentic, bursting with flavor, fresh and delicious Pakistani cuisine at very reasonable prices. Cant get better than this. Highly recommended for folks who want to try Pakistani cuisine, are not hyper sensitive to spices and care more about food than ambiance and service etc.
