This place was built in 1947. In my opionion it is over priced and disqusting. For a full slab of ribs, small veggie plate and two ice teas the bill came to 32.00 plus tip. Our ribs were old, leather like meat covered in fat and grease. The small veggie plate of cole slaw that is fresh and tasty, bake beans that taste like they are out of a can, and fresh home made potatoe salad. The white bread is like the tastless bread from the 1950s. The BBQ sauce tastes a lot like A-1 sauce but I think it is homemade and sells for 15.00 a gallon. Someone said that this resturant used to be an old chicken coop. It still looks like one and I guess this is what gives it the rustic feel. The place does not have windows-just screens. The bathrooms are outside of the building and are really gross. There are a lot of selections on the menu like a regular rib plate for 8.95 and pork sandwhichs for 2.70. I really would not reccomend this place to anyone. They need to treat all of the customers the same and give all patrons the same quality of meat. I was very disappointed in our meals. Later I called the manager and asked why our meal was so bad and the table next to ours food looked so much fresher and had bigger portions. The table next to us had ribs delivered to the table of 4 three times. He said "there is nothing I can do about it now, if you are unhappy with something tell him while you are there and he would try to help." My husband has been going there since he was a baby back in the 1950s. He can go there but I will never go back.

My husband and I went there 6/12/2015 at about 4 pm. He had eaten there many years ago and I had never been there. The atmosphere was homey and from the 50s mostly. Open windows and fans to keep the customers cool. The server was polite and efficient. The table surface was gritty feeling. The potato salad was ok, the Cole slaw was flavorful but mostly limp and very soupy. The baked beans were ok. THE RIBS on the other hand were nearly uneatable, the meat was not falling off the bone as at most of the better barbecue places, the top was over cooked so much it was tough and very hard. It was like they cooked them in a hurry with high heat OR someone neglected them and they were in too high heat too long or the warming table was too hot although nothing was really HOT when served. The barbecue sauce was very vinegary. I doubt very seriously we will ever return, The price was a bit high for what you got to eat due mostly to the quality. They will be closing for the summer on June 27 and reopen on September 10, 2015.

I witnessed the end of an era today! I grew up in Central Florida eating at Peebles BBQ. It was the best back in the day. This was my second trip to Peebles in the last year and I was disgusted! I have NEVER had ribs that bad. They were abnormally small and so overcooked that they were all but inedible. They were dry beyond their excellent sauces ability to save them and the outside of the meat was so overcooked that it was crunchy. Pork rib jerky was not what I was looking forward to. And apparently you are now limited to one glass of sweet tea because once my meal and drink hit the table I never saw the server again and left without so much as a hint of a refill. This was a horrible experience and left me sadly longing for the good ol days! Ill not return to Peebles!

The first time I went it was just ok BBQ. And sufficient to bring home when you dont feel up to cooking or just to busy .. So this was my thought when stopped by yesterday to bring home some Ribs . Well I Gotta tell ya thats the last time I will be stopping in to support them . The Ribs were dry Greasy and mostly Bone and not the good bones . Im talking the tiny sideways cuts from the ends of the rib cage. what meat you could find on these so called ribs was Impossible to chew and everyone politely said no thank you I have never been more disappointed.. I spent 58 dollars and some change on food that no one would eat . Yep it was that bad I have two and a half pounds of ribs that I am trying to salvage some meat off of for my dog at this point.

Food was good, as usual, but it is so hot that we probably should have gotten "to go" AND there were more flies than people. Our table had over 7 flies at one time as we tried to swat and eat. There are things to help with that..fly paper, machines. Cant imagine the germs spread as they lit on the sauce bottle and our food and drink straws. We were trying to cover up food on our plates as we tried to eat. Not pleasant. They are closing this Sat, but still, Im sure they want return customers in Sept. Screens could be replaced with glass for more comfort and something done about the flies, please.

Local, home style southern pit BBQ run by a good family. Service is fast and friendly, customers are friendly, and they will do to-go orders for takeout. Food is delicious with generous southern portions. Prices are excellent. The waitresses make sure you only pay for exactly what you want. Sweet tea is perfect. Seating is "open air", which is basically a screened in porch with fans. Best to eat here on a cool night or just grt takeout. Seating is limited and you may share a table with another family, but it works out well.

Most bbq places serve ribs that go from the smoker, to the warming oven/heating light, to the plate but this place has the fresh from the smoker flavor that is rare. However the smoke flavor was a light for my preference. The spare ribs werent fall off the bone but still tender. The sauce tasted like an improved Open Pit. Excellent beans, slaw, and tater salad. Ribs B+, beans A-, slaw A, t. Salad A-, sauce D+ Open air restaurant behind screen windows.

Great BBQ! Great Ribs. All sides are the best of any BBQ restaurants I go to. I am a big BBQ fan and visit all local BBQ including Bubbalous, 4 Rivers, Sonnys, Jimmy Bears, etc.... None are better. Prices are very reasonable too. Dont go on a hot day if the heat bothers you. No AC. Also call to see if open as they are only open 3-4 days a week and close a few months in summer.

If you run across a barbecue joint thats been open since 1947, they must be doing something right! Peebles is the hands-down king of open-pit barbecue in central Florida...and maybe even further than that! Just dont go in July and August, or youll be sorely disappointed. Not due to bad food or poor service, but because theyre closed for the summer!

Personally, I dont like BBQ. But this place is really good! The people make you feel right at home, and everyone is super friendly. Youll get your food really fast, and you cant beat the baked beans! Also, for those with a sweet, cool craving, their Sweet Tea is the perfect drink for a hot Florida day. Peebles is the face of a good BBQ place.
