Having learned from a former coworker that the major of Indian restaurants are specifically North Indian cuisine my wife and I found ourselves interested in checking out some of the other regional selections. On recommendation we tried a spot in Artesia, our local Little India, and really enjoyed it. However, since we are LA drivers with typical reservations about LA traffic we sought out something a little more local to our home in the South Bay. In comes Annapurna, a South Indian restaurant offering a wide array of delicious dosas and other items not typically found on the North Indian menus. The menu items, the sauces, and the service are always satisfying. Occasionally well come across an item that is a little too oily or salty for our personal tastes but by and large we walk away full and satisfied.

Gross mismanagement & miscommunication between people taking orders & cook. We clearly specified our food restrictions & ordered only such food which can be made to order keeping in mind our food restrictions but no one really bothered about them. Also cook needs to be creative enough to make the foods in a different & tasty way while sticking to the restrictions noted by the person taking order. Greatly disappointed since they didnt adhere to the food restrictions & fed us by force such things which we are restricted to have. Think of a situation where someones health goes bad because of such kind of negligence. Are they gonna take responsibility for that?

Annapurna is the perfect place to try South Indian style food. The dosas, idlis and vadas are as good as anything you find in South India. We had the ghee roast masala dosa and the sambar vada and that was more than enough food for the two of us. The salted Lassi is one of the best Ive had in LA. The filter coffee is not that great. Its weak and seems to have instant coffee mixed with ground coffee. Id give that a pass next time. Overall highly recommend this if you want to see another side of Indian food (aside from the chicken tikka masala - which, frankly, isnt even that good in most places here Ive tried)

This place has improved a lot. Infact, so better that i have to write an update. Better Quality food and better taste. I have been here after a long hiatus and needless to say it was indeed a pleasant surprise to get some good biryani. I have heard that the management changed hands and it reflects well on the restaurant. They also hiked the prices a tad bit (which i am willing to pay for a trade for better food and service). I hope they continue to do a good job.

One of the best places to have Authentic South Indian food in the Torrance area. I have visited this place 3 times so far. I strongly recommend this place to anyone loves South Indian or who wants to try it for the first time. Do try their mutton biryani and ghee roast masala dosa. They seem to be under staffed, so their service may not be prompt. You need to have a little patience. But I think its worth the wait :)

We were a group of 8 and ordered variety of dishes, all the south indian food like dosas and idlys were very nice, Paneer butter masala was not that great, kothu paratha was very spicy and had to ask to remake it with less spice. Service was initially OK and as the crowd started getting bigger we had to wait a lot.

My daughter and I stopped by after landing at LAX and really enjoyed this restaurant. She had her favorite Chicken Tikka Masala and I went with the Andhra Chicken Curry - both were very tasty! Only criticism is the naan came late so we couldnt enjoy that with the dishes, otherwise I wouldve scored it a 4.5.

Its an excellent place to have authentic south Indian food in and around Torrance. The chefs and the cooks are very friendly. Chicken Dosa, Spicy lamb and Veg Buffet on Thursdays are too good choice. Briyanis and Fried rice are nicely cooked and blended with Indian masala. A must place to try with family.

Decent food; chicken kothu parotta is good. But the boneless biriyani cant be considered as a biryani at all as it is just rice topped with a chicken Curry. The bone-in biryani is a better option if youre craving biryani. Still not the best biryani in town. Other items on menu are way better.

Their speciality is the biriyani and I love this place for that (Better than many restaurants in Artesia) But other dishes are not up to the mark. I think the kitchen is under staffed most of the time. But the guys are generally friendly and pleasant. 5 Stars for biriyani, 4 overall.

Was greeted by a young Latina, very pleasant. Helped me with my order of Gobi Manchuri. The chicken was delicious, very good taste. The cooks are authentic and this place is a prime example of southern Indian food. With a kick of spice and great taste this is the place to go.

Authentic south Indian food. Come here for the lunch buffet which includes their yummy chicken biryani which is as good as it gets in LA. They could do with a little spice in some of their dishes to make it a real gem. My go-to Indian restaurant in the south bay.

Great place really enjoyed the food. Really friendly staff. If youre looking for so authentic Southern India cuisine, you got to give this place a try. Note if youre not use to spicy food make sure you have extra naan or rice with you.

I tried Gobhi Manchurian and masala dosa. Both were nice. Nothing outstanding but worth a try. Looks like Biryani is more famous here, but on Saturday and Sunday they generally dont serve Veg Biryani or might be it was my bad luck.

Good food, though the restaurant primarily serves South Indian fare, we ordered veg and chicken biryani. Biryani tasted good and the raita served along with it is better then probably what you may get in some restaurants in India.

This is one of the best place in southern California for authentic south Indian food. I had Masala Dosa and Shambar Vada in afternoon lunch and they were extremely delicious. The food is even better than in the home country.

During my vacation at Los Angeles I visited this restaurant 3 times and had tried 3 different menus - Non-veg tandoori and curry, South Indian and Punjabi, all of the menu was awesome

Its been couple of months I visited Annapurna, its disappointing to see they lost the quality. Except Chicken Biryani remaining dishes (Chinese dishes) are really needs improvement.
