By now, if youve read any of my reviews, you get it that I am a bargain hunter but I like to enjoy what people who might have more money than I do...also enjoy. El Indio is one of those places that fits the bill. More often than not I will find a friend who likes to there too and we will share the Fajitas special at $14.99 for TWO. (your choice of meat - we will usually get a mix of both chicken and steak - both are yum!) They bring you EVERYTHING! Your choice of tortillas - flour or corn or both....a plate for each of you with spanish rice, refried beans, some sour cream, and pico de gallo. Of course you will receive some salsa and chips to munch on til your food comes with attentive staff refilling your salsa or bowl of chips as needed. El Indio....another go-to spot for the Mexican-foodies who like to enjoy good food and a great deal!

Weve been going for almost twenty years (my husband and family) All the same cooks, all the same waiters and waitresses and the same bartenders and hosts and hostesses. They are consistantly good - good food, good service, good hospitality. They treat us like family and why not ? Theyve shared anniversaries, and birthdays old and young, Mothers day, fathers day, Valentines and several other holidays and dinner at least once a week for almost twenty years. The food is delicious and authentic. The meals are fair priced. The service is fun and friendly. You will always get smiles. And the place is really, really clean.my first pick for dinner anytime !

I visited El Indio for the first time this week for a coworkers birthday celebration. We figured everyone likes Mexican food and its not too far from our work. Overall the service was okay. The staff was friendly, but it took them a while to take our order, and to get the food out too a bit too long in my opinion. Food was okay, nothing that blew my mind. I ordered the tostada plate, the beans were flavorful, the rice was bland and my tostada was soggy, which made it impossible for me to pick up an eat it. I would have given them a 2.5 stars overall.

These guys see my husband and I coming and know exactly what well order. No menus needed anymore. We go there about once a week for the chicken fajitas (the Sunday special by the way, $2 off). We order it as fajitas for two with a plate of rice and beans for each of us. Friendly, fast staff. Great margaritas too! The only question...flour or corn tortillas? We get both. Best salsa ever and they dont stop bringing you more until you say so. Theyll even through in a mini dessert of ice cream on a cinnamon tortilla if you ask. Yum!

My experience was horrible and the service was even worse. We werent acknowledged for about 30 mins and still stayed because we were really hungry, hoping the food would make up for it but it didnt. I was really disappointed in this place because i heard a lot of good things about it that i didnt even leave a bad review but now i just have to.. we didnt even finish our food. It was really upsetting that i will never go back. My husband works in the industry and so do i and i would have never dreamed to be treated like this.

They didnt offer any chili for my bfs food.. its a mexican restaurant without horchata.. never heard of mexican restaurant without horchata. . The tortilla chips tasted stale.. and the salsa wasnt good at all. They over charged for the plate I got.. service was okay.. The tortillas we got were forsure made in the microwave. . I will never come here again. My Camarones a la diabla werent even spicy .. plus they were still somewhat raw .. I would not recommend this place to anyone. . Its a waste of money!

Dined at El Indio 1/14/9. Chili relleno was bought, not made in house, and had the dense texture of bad egg foo yung. Tamale was 90+% masa flour, very dense, unedible. The chicken enchilada was made in house and the best part of the meal. Good smothering sauce. The cheese was yellow and tasteless. The rice was quite good. Tender, moist and not overcooked or held too long. The service was friendly and prompt. All in all not the 4-5 stars most other reviewers gave.

While kind of a funky place, the food is very tasty and well priced. I am a big fan of their burritos, as they are very large and tend to be pretty affordable for the amount of food you get for them. The parking is a little funky, if your heading East on Halsey you have to turn right before the building, which is easy to miss, and then you can take a left turn into their parking lot, though take the second left as it is easier to park at the back half of the lot.

This was literally the worst food Ive ever had in my life. I left here utterly devastated. The reviews below gave me some hope of finding good fajitas and chile con queso in Portland. Instead I had to endure the nightmare that was placed on my table. The tortillas were store bought and damp, the fajitas were reminiscent of cheap chinese food and the queso was absolutely inedible. I left utterly devastated. I actually had to get drunk to recover from this experience.

Awful, Awful, Awful. Bartender spent his time mean mugging me because i wouldnt order anything to drink, mind you, it was barely passed noon. Waitress couldnt take a hint either! She literally asked me to order at least 4 times within 10 minutes. Ive never been strong armed to order at any establishment and it wont begin now. By the way, i wasnt alone or just looking for a place to steal wifi my buddy that i was with had already ordered and began eating/drinking.

Been going to El Indio for over 20yrs, Alway had a great experiance until Yesterday, Took my cuz who was in from Tex, Bartender the worst, got there when they opened, only one other person , took 10min to get water, 10 more to get menues, had to go up to bar to get own refill, again to get check, Never came to table to check on us, Food was kinda bland, someone forgot to season chicken, Im hoping it was just a fluke, Ill go back but not if that tender is working

Chips were really disappointing, very hard and seemed either undercooked or really stale, couldnt tell the difference. My chicken enchilada was bland and my boyfriends taco&burrito were both very underwhelming. Ive had good, authentic Mexican food before so maybe thats why Im not a fan. Also, I wouldnt order for to-go here. Thats what we did and we had to pick pieces of tin foil off of the bottom of our food because of the way they package it.
