To anyone who ever thought that pub food was nothing more than salty peanuts, crappy sliders, or fish sticks passed off as fish and chips... I think its time you visit Queen Vic Pub. I often say, "Its not that you dont like it, youve just never had it done the right way." Let me tell you, Queen Vic does EVERYTHING just right. The food, the drinks, the service. The all-around quality of Queen Vic is so nice, it almost makes me consider not getting wasted there (almost) (just kidding?). This place does British cuisine great justice. To say its Indian/English fusion is a stretch. Indian influence is naturally prevalent in English food and curry is common in pubs. During my first visit, I had a wonderful cocktail and sampled the Shepherds Pie and Fish & Chips. I didnt realize something as simple as Fish & Chips could make my eyes roll back. The batter stuck perfectly to the delicate, flaky cod. The chips were addicting. The Shepherds Pie was comforting and had an intense depth of flavor. I detected a hint of curry or Indian spice in there somewhere. In my last visit I tried the Queens Curry (a scotch egg using ground lamb, in curry masala served with naan bread), and my first ever Bangers and Mash. Ive never had a Scotch Egg before. It was very yummy but I guess Im not a huge fan of boiled eggs. My boyfriend loved it though. The Bangers and Mash on the other hand.... I think I may have ruined myself for life. I will forever have to get my Bangers and Mash from Queen Vic. It was sinfully rich. The wild boar sausages were so tasty and had that snap that only good sausages have. The confit onion and shiraz demi glaze came together so deliciously and the mash was a great bed for all of it. Our waitress was on point the whole time, not intrusive but never missing, a real breath of fresh air. I can only rave about this place. Not experiencing this gem of a place would be you doing a disservice to yourself. Finding it can be a pain though. Just keep an eye out for the animal hospital sign with the cat on it and get ready to have a jolly good time.

Hip Hip Hooray! The Queen Vic has been on my list for a while because I have this fascination with Indian cuisine. Turns out....its not quite what one would expect, but its fantastic in an entirely different way. For starters its way bigger on the inside than the parking lot lends you to believe. Its so big they found space for private dining. You can even dine on the patio if youre not up for the main dining area or the bar. Me? I recommend the bar -bartenders are confined to a small space and always know when you need something;) Plus, these guys were pretty awesome anyways. Moving on, the beverage selections (for what looks like a teeny tiny Thumbelina establishment from outside) is innumerable. Well, thats a lie. Im sure they can be counted. Full bar with wine and never ending beer on draught and in can/bottle. Fan fricken tastic! NTM, $5 for a Bondingtons aint too shabby (HH price). They had a nice selection of specialty drinks on the menu as well....and beer flights!!! The menu was a mix of English fare and Indian cuisine, but not your typical pub food or curries. Fish & Chips, Shepherds Pie and Lamb Vindaloo were on the menu, but so was saang pizza, tamarind burgers and many others. I foolishly ate before arriving; so, I stuck the happy hour menu. The vegetable samosas and tamarind burgers both appeased my need just to try. The samosas honestly rocked my world----damn tasty. The burger....I struggle with sliders regardless of how creative. Just cant get behind mini burgers. If you think about jumbo sizing it, send me a message and Ill head right over:) My only disappointment is that parking is valet only - I drive a hooptie and dont want valet to be heartbroken when the car wont start for them:/ But, I did hear that after hours parking at the vet clinic is available. All in all, fantastic experience and Ill definitely be back!

When a last minute issue came up between the restaurant I originally reserved for my birthday dinner, I was in a scramble to find a restaurant that was open to accommodate 10+ people. I wanted to go to Oporto but realized they did not serve full entrees so I looked to Queen Vic Pub and Kitchen (owned by the same people). I am thrilled I chose this place! They took my reservation and were able to seat us all. The table was a bit cramped but I loved the ambiance of the place. Our server was great and really attentive. I really enjoyed all of the bar bites (veggie samosa and croquettes) we ordered and even were able to order a couple of drinks off the Happy Hour menu. I opted for a curry dish which was delicious.Although a bit too spicy for my liking and I love spicy food! The server was knowledgeable and sweet. The other complaints about parking space is very true. You are almost forced to valet so be prepared and bring cash. Dont bother driving in circles for parking spots. Everyone else at the able tried various dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meal-- thats quite an accomplishment! I definitely will be back. The place gets pretty packed so come early or make reservations.

The valet and the buser were the only people at the restaurant that worked well. The waiter was rude, the food prices were too high, and the alcohol was expensive. I really liked the atmosphere but I just couldnt believe how rude the waiter, Dylon, was. The waiter had an took a phone call on the floor and his attitude seemed to change instantly, we went from Ok to atrocious. We were rarely asked how our meal was going and when asked if we could get our food packed up his response was a sarcastic "Yeah, Yeah". It was so bad we really didnt want to leave any tip but since there was six of us there was a built on 18% gratuity. My girlfriend is in the food service industry and told me this was the worst service she has ever experienced. Will not be going back and I hope management catches the waiter being rude in the future. Pros: Valet, Buser, Atmosphere Cons: Parking, Rude Server, Prices, Size of establishment

My partner and I went to Queen Vic for Saturday lunch as we were craving Indian food. We parked ourselves as there were many spaces available and the valet guy was on his break. The food is definitely interesting...its not authentic Indian, as we thought, but western interpretations of classic Indian dishes. My fish curry was fragrant and mild, it had julienned vegetables and fresh peas in a thick coconut based sauce, which reminded me of French cuisine. My partners chickpea curry was also very mild - tasting more like British breakfast beans than channa masala. Regardless of the authenticity, I found the food to be fresh and delicious. The waiter was friendly and helpful and the space itself was beautiful without being fussy. Ill definitely go back and try their burgers or fish and chips, but Ill look elsewhere to satisfy my Indian food cravings.

Water was like sewage water. Told waiter and he couldnt give a toss, ordered two Mexican waters. $7 for two. I know Im in a "pub" but seriously, these are 59c in fiesta. Ordered an appetizer "sausage roll" it never came, just our main course came, two absolute terrible curries, no decent beer on tap or cider, waiter decided to add two naan breads to the tab also, we thought they just came with the curry but nope, $4 each on top of the over priced water we got two out of a packet frozen naans. Terrible hipster service. Thanks for nothing. Coming from England I thought I could find a little local joint. Ill stick to bakers street where they actually have half decent English dishes. Bunch of jobs worth.
