I am a regular here at Chettinad. It is the best buffet in this area and by far the best indian restaurant nearby. It is very affordable and the selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items are authentic south indian and yummy ! They also serve butter Nan as part of their buffet (which regularly gets re-plenished, nice and hot!) I know the owner and he is such a genuinely nice guy. All in all I would recommend Chettinad to anyone near the NRG Stadium, 610 loop, and Medical Center area. There is not another indian restaurant that caters authentic south indian taste and food than this place ! -ARJUN

It really annoys me .. does it annoy anyone else? Why does a person compelled to slam a place with one star because of one bad insurance of service???? The reviewers are clear to state that theyve been to this place numerous times before and always gotten great service in the past ...Yet the moment they have one bad experience ,theyve ready to thrown the place under the bus . Just had dinner here and the service was okay to me and the butter chicken I had was the best in Houston.... I will recommend this place to everyone and will definitely come back.have a try and put review. Dont let them down .

Worst experience! Nothing good about it thats a saving grace. Wish I could give lesser than 1 star. Firstly, we called before going and the guy who picked the call was very rude! Once we reached he tells us that they dont accept credit/debit cards. We got cash from a nearby ATM and went back. He then tells us the card machine works. We were a group of 5 and he seated us at a table thats meant for 4. He did not join an extra table until we asked him 3-4 times. After all this the food he got was the worst I tasted in a few years. Please do not go to this place.

Third time here in the past month. Raymond the overseer is very welcoming to his restaurant. They offer great tasting Chettinad Indian Cuisine and serve to order relative large portion of freshly Mixed Fried Rice that is enough for two meals. Also, another hit is an order of 4 homemade Onion Kulcha that consist of a Nan stuffed with lightly spiced onion and cilantro. So far we have only taken the food to go, but they do have a charming dining room.

This used to be my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. But I have been very disappointed the last three times I have come the food is ice cold. It makes me feel very uncomfortable that it may not be up to code. The staff is very attentive and the restaurant is always clean and the food is always being refilled but, they really need to do something about the temperature issue. I am literally looking at the steam table and no steam visible.

Had went there once with my husband. I was skeptical to go there as we are vegetarian. But must say, the food was much better than I would expect. The taste was good. I agree it took a little while to get our food. But, that in a way implicate that they were serving me freshly cooked food. So, I would not mind waiting.... this place is now added in my list of good resturants. Will definately go there again.... especially with my guests....

Not Indian food, leave alone Chettinad. Most of the buffet was bland and tasteless, and some of it was bad. Not authentic, not really edible. Frequented by starving Indian students from UH, who can get a cheap $12 fake Indian buffet. We thought wed try the ala carte menu, but they said nothing on it was prepared. Poor service, below par cleanliness. 5 of us were all unwell after the experience.

Worst Indian food I ever ate in Houston The food seemed like it was cooked two days ago!!! I dont know what did they add in buffet but my stomach is full of gas after I ate there! Food contains too much of cocunut oil Will never go there again! Restaurant looks good but they should improve interms of cooking tasty food, serve fresh food & should provide better service!!

Fish moilee for the win! If you are concerned with them taking 20 minutes to prepare your dinner, then consider calling your order in ahead of time. Another dish I particularly LOVE is the Malabar Calamari - its an appetizer that is prepared quickly and was NOT an item I saw in Kerala when I visited! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I have Indian friends who strongly disagrees with me, and they may be right. But for a Chinese-American palette, the buttery-ness of their buttered chicken, and the spiciness of the goat curry is just right. For lunch, the all you can eat buffet, is a fulfilling enough that you can eat it enough for just a light dinner latee

I eat here all the time, I love the butter chicken and chicken Vindaloo. Not sure what everyone else is complaining about, food is seasoned well, generous portions and average preparation time. I always get it to go, so I cant comment on the buffet or the service but have been very pleased so far.

The food is very cold . And the service is pathetic. Aprt from that if you request them to bring hot bread or naan they will say " eat from buffet table only otherwise it will be extra" most of good restaurant provide fresh and hot naan and roti but this place just not the place to visit.....

The worst food I had in any restaurant. I dont why they call it a buffet because there are only 5 items in the buffet. There is no starter, no classic indian servings like daal or sambar, there is no curd or curd rice. Hated this place than any other restaurant visited in my life.

About average Indian food. The kidney beans in the dal makhani werent cooked enough. Should have been softer. Plus it had too much cream. No taste to the lacha paratha or Chana masala. The rice they have wasnt fresh. Tasted like leftovers from lunch buffet. Nice staff though.

Undoubtedly the worst food Ive had in the past few years. On the top, the person who was serving was way too rude to us. Guess his name was Rehmin. I would never recommend this place to anyone, not even my enemies. If there was option for negative rating I would give -5.

This place makes living in the med center ghetto tolerable. $10 for a lunch buffet, butter chicken/tandoori chicken are great, the restaurant is clean, and they are polite. Notice how most of the bad reviews come from people with Indian names? Coincidence? I think not.

This was my first time here and it was a great experience. The lunch buffet was diverse and fully stocked. The staff is friendly and attentive and the decor and ambient music set a good vibe for the place. If you come be sure to try a mango lessi.

I had a great first time dinner at this very nice Indian food restaurant. The chicken tikka masala and the dosa were amazing. It was one of the best dosas Ive ever had. And hopefully I can get back soon for to try the buffet during lunch.
