A long time ago, I fell in love with a restaurant. It had everything I could ask for from a restaurant, but sadly it wasnt meant to be. It started as any other day. Work was slow, but I was hopeful, because in a few short hours my coworkers and I were going to eat another amazing lunch. We made the 25-minute drive to the place, but the doors were shuttered. They had gone out of business, and taken along with them the part of me that loved a restaurant in a way only that makes people who care about you go, “that’s a little weird.” I still went to lunch with friends and coworkers, and I still enjoyed the food, but I didnt -love- places anymore. Not the way I used to, at least. My capacity to love a restaurant in the, "its 8 AM and only 3 more hours to lunch--I cant wait!" way, was gone forever. Until I had lunch at Biryani Pot. It was everything I had hoped for, and then some. The Gobi Manchurian was finger licking good. The Palak Paneer had just the right spinach-to-paneer ratio. The cheese naan was fresh and filled with stretchy cheese. The biryani was Im-too-full-to-keep-eating-but-I-will good. The service was... well, pretty slow actually, but whats a few extra minutes of waiting for food thats so good? At the beginning, the restaurant was clearly run by people who knew how to cook and not necessarily run a successful business, because they made a lot of not-good-for-business errors. Like closing the kitchen when there is a line of people literally out the door. Or not hiring enough wait staff to handle a full house. Turning away people who clearly want to give you their money, enough to wait over an hour, is just bad business. But whoever is running the show is clearly learning from their mistakes. For starters, they have better hours now. They also expanded the location and renovated it to where it looks more like a traditional sit down restaurant. The service still needs work, but it has improved drastically. Parking used to be an issue so now they have a parking lot attendant who helps you find a parking spot. The quality of food hasnt decreased and their prices haven’t increased. I could go on, but I wont. Try this place out for lunch, and once you love it and can’t live without it anymore, order it for dinner. To go. Often. TL; DR; Service isnt great, but that can be easily forgiven because their food is so amazing.

Food OK and Very very BAD service. I see the change (not good) in attitude in terms of the service provided from the first time I was there to second and third time. What was most disappointing and prompting me to write this review is that they really did not bother to even ask what was needed to correct when they know the customer is not happy. I ordered the food and one of the members was not feeling comfortable with the smell around and we requested for a different seating which they did not accommodate and showed the displeasure, the guy who was taking the order mentioned that I can talk to the owner. And no one came and I had to pack my food and take it home and wanted to talk to the owner when paying for the food and there was pretty bad attitude and ignorance to the fact that someone is not happy and want to talk. I am from Hyderabad and enjoyed the kind of food they serve. I enjoyed the first time and even took couple of my friends later. But since than the quality of food was also not upto the initial taste and standards. when the food was not that good one of those times and I even said them what was not good. But this time I felt I should write a review hoping that they would show some respect to their customers and try to improve on any suggestions that they can...and customer service is a basic necessity in this line of business.

Disappointed ! . This used to be one of my fav places to have Biryani and other Non-veg items. I went to this restaurant with my wife and kid who came to Houston for the 1st time and boy it turned to be a total waste !!!...We visited on a Saturday evening at 5:35. We ordered Lamb soup, Chilly chicken and Lamb biryani. The soup was lukewarm, chilly chicken was not made fresh, it seemed as if it was warmed and served to us. The chicken was overdone, it was really hard !, may be they pan-fried it again... I thought at least Biryani would make up for the disappointment but it was a disaster. When it was served to us it was Ice cold, we could actually see the frozen Ghee between the morsels...It was as if we were punished for visiting their restaurant...I still have some hopes of visiting this restaurant some time in future, for I have some fond memories of eating some of the best food in Houston here at this restaurant...but then...I hope they improve the quality....or else....

The food was really good. We ordered chicken biryani and goat curry. But the customer service was pathetic. The person serving our table was totally uninterested in getting the job done. Right from the beginning, just a simple request for two cups of water, fork-knife got the guy annoyed. We let it pass thinking he was having a bad day. Then we requested boxes for the leftovers, he shoves just one box and leaves. We had to request for additional box which got him annoyed even more. We let it pass. While boxing the food, he got us the check for the food. We were in the process of boxing the food and he demanded us to place our card right then and there so that he can get the check processed. This was the last straw and we left with a feeling of being shoved out of the restaurant. So much for being an Indian restaurant!! No point of having great food with pathetic attitude toward the customers!

Service is outright bad. There is no system of checking in guests. We asked for a booth and were asked to wait for 10 min. While we waited they continued to seat new guests one after another guess where .... in a booth. Finally after they realised they had asked us to wait they had already seated about 4-5 families. Service with water plates utensils etc was also very erratic. We finally got to ordering the food stayed with the hot and sour soup. It was just chilly water did not resemble anything like hot and sour. The main course was more traditional food and it was good. The Bryani and the chicken curry was good. Unfortunately I did not enjoy it as I was busy being piseed off at the treatment meted out in the beginning. Main reason for giving the low rating is the service. I guess the trick maybe to demand it very vocally next time and not worry about creating a scene.

Pathetic service ! Our order was noted down while we were waiting in the waiting area. Got a table to sit and 40 mins after that, we were still waiting for the fried rice. Upon asking, the waiter rudely said, "you can cancel the order if you want". Well, sorry to say, but the waiters need to stop being jerks and should learn how customers are handled. We spoke to the person (who apparently manages the place) and he could care less with our concerns. While we were talking to him, he was busy swiping our cards. Bad, bad attitude. I have been visiting this place since the last three years, and the food quality has gone down drastically (I agree with other reviews regarding food quality and poor customer service). With the long wait times, dumb waiters, pathetic customer service, and below average food, this place can be given a royal miss !
