(They should allow for negative -stars) To my horror during my visit to my-previously favorite- restaurant, Upidi Café, I found this (refer to pic) crawling all around the food and along the serving utensils. They simply just removed the one dish, but it was running over the whole right side of the bar. Also, I noticed that the water that used to keep the food warm on the bar looked as if it hadn’t been changed in months. It was a very stomach churning experience. I will never go back to this place again. Shame on Upidi, I used to really enjoy their food. Disgusting! I immediately contacted the health department and filed a complaint.

As with many ethnic restaurants, the saying goes "Eat where the natives eat" (I dont know if thats really a saying, but I just made it up to apply to this situation) :-) Seems to be a mostly South Asian clientele at Udipi and they know good food! Bottom line is Udipi has a great vegetarian buffet, along with some great menu items as well. Since I discovered it, I ve eaten there a couple times a week and havent had a bad experience yet. Highly recommended!

Came here last minute notice on a Sunday night and was pleased to find they offered masala dosa at very reasonable prices ($6.99). The dosas here are huge and will fill you up. Not sure if they offer this throughout the day, but they provided a free cup of rasam soup as an appetizer. It was pretty spicy, but pleasant. Pros: -Price Cons: -Bathroom is disgusting

Food and service is good in this restaurant. It si quite busy most of the times but they still manage to serve well here. Staff id very friendly too. My only complaint is the restroom. They just upgraded the while restaurant and forgot the bathroom! Such a shame! This owner is certainly making money and not investing any in making the restroom better.

Frequent patrons here. Consistently great quality food. Idlis are very soft and fresh. Sambar is genuine south Indian style and dosas always come out crisp and golden without too much oil. Recently tried the sugarcane juice- it is as advertised -freshly squeezed and tasted lovely. Customer service good too. Their buffet food is consistently good too.

Consistent , Authentic , Hearty . So forth , been there numerous times , and yet to be disappointed . Most clientele is Indian . Hot , Spicy and may not be suitable for those who prefer bland palette . Agreed withe the other reviews on weak selection . Disagreed with the cleanliness issue . The place was very clean every time I paid a visit .

Really really tasty food, very cheap. Everything was flavorful. Even though it was a quiet time, nothing tasted like it had been sitting out on the buffet. They bring dosa to the table, like many south Indian buffets, and those dosa are great too. They have a really nice toasted onion flavor to the filling. Would return in a heartbeat.

Vegetarian lunch buffet was delicious, fresh, and plentiful. The buffet was regularly stocked and was well maintained. I really enjoyed the jackfruit dish offered. Staff were friendly and helpful. Whether or not youre a vegetarian there are many dishes to enjoy.

This is my go to place for good Indian veg food. The ambience is really good and its a great place to eat. I love their rice because it has a very interesting flavor. Their Bisibellah bath is on point and they have pretty good dosas as well.

This location is very dirty. I stopped in a few times over the last 8 years and I always wonder how do people eat here. I cant and wont! The Udipi in Katy is still there its just further south in the same shopping as Big Lot.

We went with great expectations and were utterly dissapointed with the food. It was as plain as it could get and the dishes we ordered - dosa, sambar, idly were all almost tasteless. I would never go to this place again.

Really liked this South Indian vegetarian restaurant. I went for the weekend lunch. The food was nice and tasty, everything seemed fresh. My favorite was the masala dosa & spring rolls that come included in the buffet.

Delicious, vegetarian South Indian food. One of the best places to get South Indian food in Houston. Everything here is great. Have been a few times, always for the lunch buffet. Great chai as well! Highly recommended.

I saw a roach on the wall as I walked toward the bathroom, needless to say I walked out. NEVER returning and they have been cited for this in the past. Just go search restaurant violations.

It is pretty good! I love their spicy chutney. I usually order one of their Dosa variants (I love Dosa) but their Batoora is pretty good too! Costs around $10-15 for a fulfilling meal.

This restaurant is one of the best place in South-West Houston for vegan. I love their buffet(11am-3pm). And also the crews are friendly. The restaurant is spacious too.

Simple South Indian food. Love their chutneys and sambar. They should look to keep their place clean though. Downgrading the review after we got ladoos covered in mold.

Went for the Sunday Buffet. Doas is included in the buffet. Its a small restaurant nothing fancy, food is ok and Service is ok. Better than the Udipi in Katy.

Great tasting south Indian dishes ..Beware how many dishes you order because the quantity per dish is more than you usually get in India.

Delish food, good prices, the only thing is the low variety at the buffet, but you can always order off the menu.
