I was assigned to the nearby Camp Mabry and wanted to find a nearby bar where a few soldiers could sit and relax on a free evening. My first experience here was decent. There is an impressive amount of draft selections and finding something interesting wasnt difficult. The bar is clean and the outside seating section has a lot of room. The patrons seem to be mainly service employees working in the Austin area, not the usual UT college students common to the bars closer to downtown. This made for a more mature enviroment, people that were not drinking to the point of obnoxiousness. My friends appreciated that the local ladies dressed to impress and did not mind a GI striking up a conversation. I was impressed enough to return the next week with a new group of friends. This is where things fell apart. Same clean bar with a decent beer selection and spacious outside seating area. Many of the staff were the same, they just took thier evil pills that night... Service was rude and slow. The ladies waiting tables outside were blatantly ignoring you. Clearing your table of empties while ignoring any questions you had about getting more drinks. It lead to thinking that many of the ladies were simply bar-backing, but later youd find them serving drinks to another table. Our group did a quick self-check to see if out behavior might have caused this shunning, and came up with nothing. This place has all the possibilities of being a great place to have a good time. Considering all the great places in Austin there are to go get a couple of drinks, they need to knock the chip off their shoulder if they are going to stay competitive.

This is the "outdoorsy one" in the circle of bars owned by the same guys, and though its usually alright, I cant give it the same gushing praise I give the others. I hate complaining about "service", since service is so variable and specific to particular experiences, but I feel like the service here is genuinely more inconsistent than a lot of other bars. Sometimes youll be able to chill out on the excellent patio, playing cornhole or just chatting with your friends, steadily resupplied by more cheap beers until you feel ready to leave without a care in the world. The next, youll be slumping, sad and sober, bereft of beer for dangerously long periods of time. One time I had some out-of-towners come hang out with us, and despite not being drunk at all our waitress flatly refused to serve them. I understand that its her call, theyre just trying to protect themselves against TABC accusations, and it wasnt like I was going to appeal her ruling to the Supreme Court, but it was still a downer. Other than that, its got a lot going for it. That patio is awesome and the inside is fine too, with tables to watch sports. The food is cheap and great; their beer is a good deal as well. Due to redevelopment theyre going to shut down for a while and reappear as part of a new condo/retail project, so hopefully theyll be able to iron out their service issues then and meet the high standards of all the other bars in the group.

I had a horrible experience at Pour House last night. My friend and I went there to grab a late night drink and snack after Yard Bar closed. Big Mistake!! We sat on the patio with our very well behaved dogs and I went in to place our order. After I came back out and we were drinking our beers, a young server was sent out to tell us we had to leave. She informed us that there had been an incident and dogs are no longer allowed. I ran back inside and told the bartender to cancel the food order - he looked super annoyed! The "manager" then asked if I was the girl with the dogs. He said if they had been small dogs and could sit in our laps then we could have stayed. I asked him what I was supposed to do about our drinks and he did finally decide to refund my money. While gathering up our stuff, the young server came back and said she had to take our drinks from us. I told her it wasnt a problem because I didnt want another sip of something from this establishment. How about you post a sign that dogs arent allowed??? That way people dont show up, place an order, and then get kicked out. And if you dont allow dogs then you shouldnt tell me that it would have been okay if my dog had been smaller. Just tell me that you discriminate against certain breeds. Way to be a dog friendly establishment in Austin. I will never be back and I have let all of my rescue friends know so that they will not support this bar either.

This place has amazing burgers, Im just going to get that out of the way before I get into this review. The first time I ate there it was the best burger I have had in Austin in a long time. But then each time I went back there were problems, like the cooks not holding the mustard or giving me fries instead of onion rings. I have been back three times now with friends and family, and each time the order is messed up somehow. Last time I ate there my burger was actually raw on the inside--not just rare, RAW. From what I can tell, just dont go to this place on the weekends because the cooks that work that shift are probably totally hungover or have been up all night on drugs. I cant think of any other reason that they would consistently do such a terrible job with every single order. Im going to try the Pour House again today (a Thursday), and if they dont get my order right I will probably never return, even though their burgers are so darn good, I can only handle so much crappy service before I have to move on. However, they have a great jukebox! Iron Maiden, Ramones, Zeppelin, tons of great rock!

I used to like this place until the last time I was there. I had had 3 drinks plus food during my friends bday get together on a Sat night. At the end of the night, I decided to be responsible and leave my car. I was shocked to find that it was towed the next morning! How IRRESPONSIBLE for a BAR to tow the cars of its patrons?! I had to pay $200 to get my car the next morning - why? - for trying to do the right thing?? I will NEVER go to the Pour House Pub again. We called them to complain, they told us, it was the property managers fault. We called the property manager, she said it was the property owners fault. I say SCREW YOU ALL! I hope everyone enjoys those Sunday garage sales in the parking lot, that encourage people to drive home drunk! Shame on you Pour House Pub (and those shady property managers)!

Ok, so I go to the Pour House literally every week. Service is slow, but thats Austin. Every time I go I am with other regulars, the wait staff knows us, we chat with them, always leave good tips. Today I go in, it is very busy, and wait about 5 minutes before I am offered a beer. The bartender asks for my ID, I think hes joking because they usually have my drinks waiting, at least a shot. But he was serious! Guess what? I forgot my ID at the bank this afternoon. Im 30, Im there every week, they know who I am, I was carded the first few times, but b/c I AM A REGULAR I havent been in a long while... Guess I left great tips for naught. Way to take of a previously loyal customer who forgot his ID; I AM NEVER RETURNING.
