What To Order: Catfish Combo Ive eaten at a few locations of Bayseas and the food is consistent across them. Prices are fair and service is good. Some items Ive ordered were a bit bland in comparison to other seafood restaurants, but the fish here is pretty good and portion sizes are decent. The recommended Catfish Combo offers a decent selection of items that will ultimately help you to decide if you like the food here or not. 2 Catfish, 2 Shrimp, 2 Oysters and fries. Its a meal that will definitely filling. The fish is particularly good, with a very thin breading, fresh flavor, and the meat tender and falling apart. . The oysters are good as well, a bit small, and even on a full order can leave you hungry, so Ive started ordering the combo now. The oysters here are juicy, not fried until they are chewy but soft and tender with decent flavor. However on one occasion I had a few fried oysters that were very fishy tasting and under cooked. Across my 8 visits so far, about 3 of them have been to this location. Wait time for food at lunch has been reasonable, service has always been decent, and the food decent for the price.

I thought I was going to be getting some great food and all we got was a waste of time going to eat here. When we walked in it looked like a basement turned into a cooking area and the young man that took are order did not tell us that they cater to carry out only that was the first thing so as we seat there all the carry out order were flying out the door even the ones that were order after are order. So about 15 min of watching this we ask the young man we had taking are order what was taking so long, he let us know that they had a lot of to go orders and had to get them out first and the cook was just now putting are order on the grill and what did we want to do. I Looked over at my guy and told him what the young man said and we were amazed how the special of the day is not already done and just needs to be plated up and served. This place also showed us why some black business dont last long. Will never go there again.

Pretty much everything is fried. If you want your fish grilled they can do that too. I had an Arnold Palmer as my beverage, and my guest ordered water. We got two Arnold Palmer. It was way too sweet. I ordered the catfish combo. The fish was fairly bland, and the shrimp overcooked. The oysters were pretty good. I also ordered the fried mushrooms that were good as well. My guest ordered grilled trout, but got fried trout instead. Everything is served on foam plates and cups like its a picnic. The carafe the water came in was absolutely filthy. The menus, table, chair, and floor all felt of grease. Tables are way too close, and the decor hasnt changed in decades. The place looks run down. I was hoping for a better experience based on the ratings, but I think Long John Silvers is probably better.

First of all I am not a big seafood fan , however the rest of my family are seafood fans. Ive had seafood on the west, east, and Gulf coast with price ranges high to low. Needless to say we have been to our fair share of seafood restaurants. This is my least favorite. We started with the shrimp gumbo which was fake, the frozen shrimp was placed in the gumbo as an after thought. The catfish had no taste, the pieces seemed as if they were pressed to look like larger portions. The fried shrimp was horrible, again tasteless. It was hard to find the shrimp once the dried hard crust was removed. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

The food portions were good. The fried mushrooms werent terrible. I got the fried catfish and wasnt disappointed. I would really give the place 2.7 stars if possible just because of the service. Everyone was great except for one employee. This employee made the whole meal an awkward experience. Never smiling or speaking for the most part.. Scowling might be appropriate like they were disgusted by us or something. Super weird. Anyway, I probably wont return simply because of the uncomfortableness those at my table felt.

We tried Bayseas for the first time last night. We ordered the catfish, collard greens, red beans and rice, fried okra, and gumbo. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh. This is my husband and Is new spot.! Only complaint is that the food ONLY comes with fries, coleslaw or both. It would be nice to be able to substitute or have a choice of the sides you want with the combos, ordering separately gets real pricey. Other than that, great place.

I Love Bayseas, however I made a mistake and ordered a family size catfish dinner and fries to serve to my family visiting from Mississippi, my uncle who is fisherman an catfish lover, took one look and said thats not catfish, thats swai, he said people often pass swai off as catfish, he began to show me and tell me the difference. i dont eat catfish that much, but my husband does, we get catfish from here alot....im kind of disappointed.

The seafood here in amazing, however, they serve tarter sauce from a jar. I would expect a seafood restaurant to make their sauces from scratch. Also, I absolutely despise the instant tea that they serve. Why not freshly brewed tea? I would definitely go back if they make these changes. If not, oh well Ill stick to real seafood restaurants. The service is not great. Cashiers are rude. If you eat here bring your own tarter sauce and tea.

Brought the family to try this location out in Converse, as opposed to going into San Antonio for seafood. The staff was very welcoming, courteous and accommodating. We had the catfish and trout lunch specials. The portions were a great size, more than enough to enjoy their and some left to take home. Would really recommend this place to anyone that wants good fried fish! And they have sweet potato pie and lemon pound cake!!!!
