Drove by this place off MoPac and they parking lot was packed. Ive learned that if you I ever see a crowded parking lot, something good must be happening inside. We flipped around and made our way inside. We had planned to spend some time at the Domain, so from the looks of the place, I was worried we were over-dressed. However, those fears were quickly dispelled when we walked inside. This is a "come-as-you-are" type pub. The interior was dimly lit and it appears that they havent put any thought into the interior decor since 1965. Its an old bar that you might expect to see your retired neighbor or coworker in after work. I grabbed a table and we waited for about 10 minutes before I finally asked one of the servers if we could order. She said, "Sorry, I just got sent home. Youre gonna have to order at the bar." No big deal, we get up and move to the bar. It would have been nice for her to tell us this when she saw us sit down. The guys at the bar are not your typical bartenders. They are the two most friendly guys Ive ever met. Ryan took our order of burgers and fried pickles and recommend some good brews. Fried pickles - very well might be the most tasty pickles Ive ever eaten. Cripsy, great batter, and not too salty. Burgers - my wife said this was the best burger shes ever eaten. I ordered mine cooked "medium well" and it arrived more of a "medium". The beef tasted a little off to me, but it was nicely seasoned. The buns are sweet, like Moonies, and Im not a fan of that style. However, it was a good burger and I would come back again, if for no other reason but to hang with the bartenders again.

I come out to this place at least twice a month whenever my roomie had a rough day at work and needed some happy time right when shes off of work at 5:30. This is right around the corner from us so it works perfectly. Everytime we come here, everyone always insists on sitting outside. Even now, in this freeze my buttcheeks off weather. So if you come in during this time and see everyone crowded inside while a small group of 5-6 weirdos braving it outside, that could be me and my crew! The most fond memory I have of this place was when I was walking out of the bathroom and the bartender just put in $5 in the jukebox and was picking some songs and he told me if I would like to pick the rest of the songs. It sounds silly but I have never picked out songs on a jukebox and boy, did this place have an awesome selection! Sitting outside, you can hear just barely hear the music was its great for me and my friends to chit chat and be able to have the music in the background. The servers come by to check on us just the right amount of time. Not too annoying at all. The best part, they have a water jug too with plastic cups outside thats constantly filled. I look forward to my roomies next rough day at work.

Sucks?! So I had just taken from metro train from downtown parked at the park & ride off howard; was gonna try to beat Austin rush hour traffic the best way in a bar...on a friday?!at like 3:45ish... Im a 2nd generation longhorn, I had a jacket & bevo on my lapel jacket; so theres "confusion" when you sit out & have/need a drink...... Thats wut I was told by a waitress; because I started a tab inside; I was told it didnt matter; she told me she would send someone else ( I made it inside & ordered before she even made it back inside) I LOVE barfly; bender.... Even after I flagged down a waitress she "pretended" to care she asked me, "how can I help?" I decided to give her another chance......yet again after drinks kept coming out, I decided to leave & close out.....as I was leaving she comes out & the manager, Blake just happened to be right by me, & she says, "this is the guy"...... Blake still a lil while to approach me after I was talking to my bartender about my experience; Blake only reaffirmed what I already had experienced and that is, the only consistency is the inconsistency in service I received.

consistently consistent. quality and service does matter to these guys. my husband really enjoys a neighborhood bar/restaurant. he plays darts, watches one of their multitudes of flat screens. haha he says hes the old guy at the end of the bar. he mentioned that there are basically 2 groups of people that hang out at the hideout - the inside people and the outside people. the place has a great vibe - inside or out. its low key, in a great location. best of all, theres a chill clientele - Id say predominately 25 & up - no kid stuff. def NOT a meat market. its blissfully UN-trendy. pros: quality, consistency and THE best burgers (omg the bun/bread yumm). cool bathrooms cons: juke box ps. had a drink at their new Pour House (so sad their previous location had to be razed. so painful to see an old historical austin building get demolished). I met the night mgr. wish I got his name. very kind host.

The hideout is back! Ive been a loyal Hideout customer for, oh, 5 years now, since I moved into the neighborhood. I was pretty much the only one ordering takeout, but it was so worth it. For the first 2 years, the Hideout was serving the best burgers in the area, but then they started to fall off: got less consistent, less tasty. Well, Ive got great news: the hideout burgers are back. The burger tonight was up among the best this town has to offer, and I would say it match Counter Cafe and outdid Hopdoddy. Well see if they maintain the consistency, but if they do, this brings them right back to the top. I will say, the fries could still use some work. I miss the old seasoned waffle fries at times. Tonights had too much salt and were a bit on the burnt side. It should tell you how good of a burger it was for a fry hound like myself to keep it at 5*.

This is really what I imagine a bar should be. Its the Every Man Bar. Dark and cold inside with some video games and a jukebox in one corner, dart boards in another, and a big screen with some kind of sports game on it. The drinks are easy on the wallet, not on the pour. They serve your typical bar food fare that is really well done for where you are, what youre paying, and how drunk you are. They have a great patio area where you can have an intimate conversation with friends or try hitting on the dudes at the table next to you. Its your call, because its your bar, dude.

Wednesday nights pretty much have me at $1.50 lone stars. We love coming here for a few beers before we play volleyball. I also love coming here for a few beers after softball. They have plenty of outside seating when the weather agrees with it. The inside is very dark; Im a fan of the lighting, but apparently some people like to look at each other. Who knew? Im also about in love with an inanimate object as someone can be with their waffle fries. Ive heard from my more carnivorous friends their their wings and their burgers are great, as well.
