Updated 08/14/16 Cafe Mezcla is still a go to spot for me but its impossible to ignore the long wait times for food. If youre coming here on a Sunday morning for breakfast or brunch, itll be a struggle to find a seat. It also takes a super long time to get your food, even if its a pretty basic order. Food is still great though, but -1 star for the lackluster wait times and seating availability. ---------- Cafe Mezcla is awesome-- the food is great, atmosphere is nice, and the staff is wonderful. This is the go-to place in the area if youre looking for a local coffee/brunch spot thats not your typical DD/Starbucks. They have crepes, waffles, sandwiches, omelettes, and more. I am a big fan and always order their chicken and waffles-- theyre simply amazing. Drinks here are great as well! The place is a bit small so seating can be cramped but Ive never had an issue. The vibe is casual as well and you order the food yourself. The only drawback is that there are normally only 2-3 employees working at once and food can take some time to be prepared.

Went yesterday (Sunday February 21st)morning with my fiancé because I had read really good reviews. The decor was cute, but the food was disgusting, or at least mine was. I ordered the chicken Bonita bowl and nothing had seasoning! The chicken was different tempretures (mostly cold)and tasted like it was old. The corn, beans and salsa all a me from cans. The corn and beans were extremely bland. There was also supposed to be gucamole on top of the bowl, but instead what I got was just cubes of avacado. Maybe Im just old but the last time I checked gucamole had more to it than just avacado. When I told my plate back to the girls at the counter to let them know I was told oh Im sorry and they took my bowl and walked away. I could see them talking in the back. No one ever came back to check if we were ok or if I wanted a different meal or maybe even a refund. I ended up going to The Corner Bakery and eating an amazing meal. I am never coming back here again.

The food is unusual and delicious. A very nice change from standard breakfast/brunch/lunch fare. I had the green eggs and ham waffle - ham and eggs with pesto tucked between waffles to be eaten like a sandwich and it was so scrumptious it was gone before I knew I was eating it! The girls working behind the counter could use a little work on their friendliness and professionalism (the were a little deadpan and really needed to brush their hair. That might seem party but they are the faces of the establishment.) and thats why I only have it four stars. Other than that the good was quick and delicious, the place we clean, and even though we went at 11 am on a Saturday it wasnt too busy (although it got a lot busier while we were there). Overall very enjoyable, we will definitely return, and will be highly recommending it in the meantime!

It was pretty busy on a Sunday morning and I dont know how this affected everything. First off the place is poorly ventilated and too warm. Simple breakfast items took 15-20 minutes. After 10 minutes we asked for our coffee since they did not give it too us. The coffee was watery and pretty tasteless. I had to ask for the cream and was handed a supermarket container which they left out and un-chilled. My wifes crepe was overdone and crispy. Otherwise, no too bad. My bacon was paper thin, very chewy and not much flavor, and the pancakes were undercooked. Im guessing the pancakes came from a mix. My over easy eggs were cooked through. McDonalds would have been a tastier breakfast at half the price. $22 for 2, not very good. Wont be going back.

I normally dont write reviews but felt that after my experience, it was necessary. We waited 40 minutes for our simple order of 2 crepes. After waiting 30 minutes, I asked the staff approximately how much longer it would be and while 2 of the staff members were polite, one had a snotty attitide. We ordered our meal to go so that we could eat outside because there were no open tables inside. The crepes were undercooked and stuck to the paper in the to go container, which made eating them quite difficult. We were excited to try somewhere new but most certainly will not be returning.

The food gets 5 stars. This place has excellent food and the best coffee on this side of Columbia. Its a small business--with fresh food made to order--so dont expect big chain efficiency. However, the food is worth the wait. I could nit pick things here and there but bottom line is if you want to keep good food in Hickory Ridge, we need to patronize the establishments.

What a great gem of a restaurant! The food was so unusual and delicious. Service was wonderful. Very unique food but with a great variety...I could go every day for a month and get something different :-) We will certainly return. Just bummed they arent open for dinner but I did find out eggs, omelettes, waffles, and crepes are available all day. Way to go Cafe Mezcla.

First time great, second time great, third time great - so I had to review. The French toast with the blueberry lemon glaze, the savory or sweet crepes, the standard eggs and bacon, no matter what you order its all super tasty. Not to mention the smoothies and coffee. Oh, and this is not a chain so its nice to support a local business.

I am so glad I found this place! Its hard to find a good breakfast in Columbia on a week day. The service was wonderful. The food was fresh from scratch. I got the French toast with blueberries and lemon curd (amazing.) My bf got a fresh veggies omelet. We will be back. I prefer to support local businesses when ever possible.

Very small, very cozy. It will be hard to not be involved in whatever conversation is happening nearby. The omelettes are excellent and well balanced between egg and filling. The tiramisu waffle is to die for. They make soft fluffy light waffles here. The chicken and waffles looks absolutely divine.

This place is trippy, definitely a unique experience. I kinda thought a restaurant with this much verity in their menu would probably be inconsistent, but everything everyone ordered was really good. Kinda cramped and it was a little too hot for some reason? Otherwise great experience.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! It is happiness in your mouth! Tiramisu Waffle is amazing, with a good cup of coffee and you are set for the day (and calorie intake as well). Great little place to go for a late breakfast on a weekend. Servers are nice and place is clean. One of our favorites!

A MA ZING their smoothies are like a waterfall of heavenly ness. Their baltimore fatties were questionable at first but tasted like actual grilled chicken. I rated 4 stars only because online it says 8am to 7 pm but when I called they told me they close at 3:30!

Crêpe was off the hook with tender shrimp and fresh veggies rolled into a perfectly cooked crêpe with spicy-tangy-sweet sauce drizzled on top. Blueberry smoothie was very good too. Clean unisex restroom. Seating area is small so you might have to wait.
