I cant say enough great things about Sushi Kata!! A small unassuming little Japanese sit down sushi joint in a strip mall. Youd easily pass it by if you didnt know better. If you are a sushi lover, that would be a mistake. My wife and I enjoy the entire selection of sushi, teriyaki chicken, tempura prawns, and the miso soup is especially hearty and delicious. But our favorite has to be the Kata bento and the Salmon bentonite. The prices are very fair for what you get, and the service is amazing. Esther is very friendly and always greets us by name. If you want to go to a friendly place with great sushi & sashimi and personal friendly service, Sushi Kata is a great choice. I highly recommend it. Tell Esther that Eric sent you!

This place is a treasure. Im amazed theres not a line out the door, if it were in any other part of town I think there would be a long wait. Thankfully they are swift and provide great sushi cuisine. I believe its a family run business. They are genuine and caring with their service. Good sized portions and great quality fish. I noticed there were a lot of take out orders for the simpler items like teriyaki bento. Love this place. Wish it was on my side of town. I go here almost every time Im out visiting my family in Milwaukie.

The first time I ate here, the food was OUTSTANDING. I was so happy to (after 4 years of searching), have found a truly stellar sushi place in/around Portland. However, the second and third visits were not as spectacular. The quality of fish itself is inconsistent. Twice the tuna had a strong, not-right odor, so much so that I couldnt eat it. I will eventually give it one more try, attempting to recreate my first experience, but Im not holding my breath for that chance that I may have to... and my nose.

It is a small place, in a strip mall, but serves great food. The locals love it and it can get busy at dinner and lunch. Food is great, service is quick because the place is small. There is a lot of take out service and people come in and out. The Sushi is great, and fresh and made for your order, nothing pre made as far as Sushi. Sit down service is for about 50 people, dont be surprised if you are seated next to people you dont know. Great place, good cost for your buck.

Pretty gross in my opinion, I had to ask the owner (who was our server) to heat up my food that was cold. My boyfriends food was hot and you could tell my dish was sitting for awhile. It didnt taste very good even after it was reheated. The sushi tasted like it was days old and the sushi rice didnt stick together. I would go somewhere else for sushi because it should taste fresh and clean. And theres much better teriyaki out there.

My husband and I always scope out the local sushi places when we move, looking for our new favorite place, and when we found this place we found the best of ALL!! Not only is the sushi really fresh with good-sized portions, you cant beat their prices, and they have the most complete bento menu Ive ever seen. Great staff, and awesome unique rolls. Free miso & salad with every order. Go! Now!

Do you love old school Japanese Sushi and Bento? Try this hole in the wall place, staff was nice, didnt smell like fish at all(hint of bleach actually which is a good thing) Good Value for the Lunch Bento Box. The only thing I could say negative was the sushi portion size was a little too big to easily eat in one bite. Plan on making this my new favorite sushi place in Milwaukee/Clackamas.

This place is great. I have been going here for several years. It might not look fancy but the sushi is wonderful. I think you get your moneys worth but the quality is even better than the large portions. It is my favorite place to go but I have several close second favorites. The nice thing is the sushi is consistently good because they have only one, maybe two, regular sushi chef(s).

Cool little fam operation with good food and prices. Beware of the fascist Milwaukie police, especially on your way home as they scam a speed trap at the bottom of the hill going north where the speed limit suddenly changes to 25 despite the downhill expressway look of the place. They hide in the dark like spiders. But, back to the restaurant... not much not to like about it :)

Great sushi.. incredible hole in the wall place. With the quality of food and prep this place does, they deserve a much better/nicer location. The restaraunt is small but I always get to-go anyway. Best sushi in the area, by far, AND for much cheaper. They even care about presentation in their to-go orders. Cant recommend enough if you like sushi. Their teriyaki is good too.

The service is bad, and the waiters are not specific about what you are ordering. The food is okay. Personally my favorite is the crunch roll. Some of the waiters arent very good at speaking English, but that is understandable. My friend says this place sucks a like a vaccumme, and thats why it draws so many people in here. So anyway beware.

This place may mot look like much from the outside, but inside is Sushi heaven. I have been eating here for a couple years now, and love everything they serve. Ive eaten at many sushi restaurants, and Sushi Kata serves up the largest portions for an extremely low price. I feel like Im walking into Cheers, they know me by name :)

Delicious!! Simple, unassuming decor with friendly service. Fresh, varied menu. You will find something for everyone your dinner party will love! Sashimi is a fav as are the dragon rolls. Lunch is super affordable. Large portions served quickly. You can be in and out in 30 min, leaving with a full tummy and a big smile!

I love this place! I always order the Oregon Roll and/or the spicy chicken teriyaki, and it never disappoints. The environment is comfortable, the servers and staff are friendly and accommodating, and the prices are unbeatable. We come here more often than we probably should! It is always our "go to" place to eat out.

Good quality food and pretty friendly staff. Prices are a little high but they do have a good selection. They offer a lot of different things including sushi, bento, rice bowls, etc. Small dining area, but they are usually accommodating depending on your group size if you talk to them.

When we want Japanese food, we always consider going to Kata. Good service, large helpings and good variety. The tempura is fresh and the sushi is made with very large pieces of fish. Fun to go to the Baskin-Robbins in the same mall for desert.
