So I just went to Amedeos for the first time to dine-in. I figured as a State fan I owed it to them to give them a shot. When we walked in, I was immediately in love with all of the NCSU memorabilia on the walls. The place was a little awkwardly quiet and it felt a little stuffy. They werent terribly busy, but it still took quite a while for our food to arrive, but I passed the time by looking at all of the State stuff. As for the food, I ordered the lasagna because of all of the people suggesting it on Google. I also had their pizza, with meatball and salami. I must say, the lasagna was not for me. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt good. There was basically zero ricotta cheese in it, which is my favorite thing about lasagna so I was pretty disappointed. As for the pizza, it was very good. The crust isnt too thin, more like a traditional NY/Italian style and it was slightly crunchy on the bottom with the correct amount of chewiness. The sauce was pretty good, as was the quality of cheese. The meatballs and salami were good as well. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur and I would give their pizza a solid 7.8/10. Surprisingly, the biggest surprise of the night was when my wife ordered the Oreo cheesecake for dessert. Our server suggested it and said that it was homemade. It was absolutely amazing! It was way better than the Oreo cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory by far, also cheaper. Overall, I get the sense that their entrees arent that great but their pizza is good. So, Ill be back for sure......for the pizza.

The terrible service in this wonderful restaurant is going to make me think long and hard about revisiting a once favorite restaurant. In the last year, I have eaten at this restaurant at least 6 times. Each time, the service has been very slow (even when they werent busy) and there were errors in the order. A hamburger pizza became a ham pizza. A pineapple and jalapeno pizza became a pepperoni and jalapeno pizza. Beers have not been refilled for long, long periods of time, and wait staff simply disappears for unbearable amounts of time. My family and I waited at the host stand for 15 minutes with small children after a State game (they werent that busy) as staff walked back and forth in front of us and never acknowledged or spoke to us. We finally left. This is disappointing because it has been a favorite restaurant of mine in Raleigh for 15+ years. The food, when it is correctly prepared, is always great, and so is the atmosphere. However, when you dont know what you are going to get in terms of service, it takes the fun out of the meal. My family and I will probably opt for Mellow Mushroom or other popular Italian/pizza joints in the future. It is unfortunate because the food is so good, but service also counts.

My husband and I were sorely let down by Amedos. From outside appearances we expected rich, flavorful Italian food with a mom and pop feel... it took 10 minutes to get someone to greet us and seat us. (after awkwardly standing around the front area alone not knowing what to do) The waitress barely acknowledged our presence even though they werent busy at all.... she took our order after waiting another 15 minutes for her to appear... then brought us bread that was an undercooked ball of dough!! I had to flag someone else down to return the "bread" and get some more. Another random person brought our food out after a 30 minute wait. (during which our waitress never came back, refilled our drinks, or checked on us) The meal was bland and cold. (obviously sitting in the kitchen too long) I, honestly, have gotten a better meal from a Budget Gourmet dinner. **Dont order the "Veal Amadeo" -- its plain spaghetti with butter and stringy grey meat thrown on top-AWFUL! At that point we just wanted to leave and had to wait another 10 minutes to see our waitress walk by so we could flag her down and ask for the check. My husband and I eat out regularly... and this was the WORST dining experience we have had in YEARS.

Went there with my boyfriend. Waited about 20 minutes for someone to come and get our drink orders. Claudia brought our drinks to us and said shed bring out some bread. 10 minutes later she mentioned appetizers were half priced today. We ordered mozzarella sticks. She brings by our mozzarella sticks and takes our order. We ordered two seafood Amedeos. We waited 30 minutes only for her to come out with ONE entree. She said she thought we wanted to share one entree which is weird considering she asked us separately what kind of pasta we wanted for our entree. So we eat our dinner, never even got any bread. She comes by and I ask for the check. We also mention we have our student IDs for the 50% off entree special. She comes back and says the student special is only if we ordered multiple entrees. WE DID ORDER MULTIPLE ENTREES. She then decides to be a smartass and says "At least youre only lying for one". Umm no. Were still hungry and we didnt get any discount. Then it turns out she also didnt do our appetizer at 50% off, which is what she opened with. Overall awful experience, make Claudia a busser cause she isnt cutting it as a waitress. I dont think Ill ever return.

Amedeos is my favorite restaurant in Raleigh and my preferred location for watching Wolfpack games. Since 1963 Amedeos has been making delicious Italian food. I have enjoyed each meal I have eaten at Amedeos and there is nothing that I would not recommend. I dont have a "favorite" menu item because everything is so good. I rarely eat dinner at Amedeos without getting a side Greek salad, the dressing is homemade. Other dressings and sauces are homemade in addition to the cheesecake. If you have a big group you cannot go wrong with their pizza, it is fantastic. I am also quite fond of their lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, cheesesteak sandwiches, and the hot Italian hero. If you need a place to watch a sporting event you wont be disappointed with the beer selection and prices and buffalo wings. Wolfpack fans will love the decorative theme and may recognize parts of Amedeos as where some interviews took place for ESPNs 30-for-30 Jimmy V episode. Every now and then in between play during Wolfpack games ESPN may air footage of the restaurant taken during the filming of those interviews.

Amedeos Restaurant, down in ol Raleigh near the campus of NC State is more than just a place to get the most delicious home style Italian food in the Triangle area. As soon as you walk in the front door you know this place is all about Pack Pride. The memorabilia and pictures cover the walls making it the last remaining NC State Sports Museum around, and the roots run deep here. In fact Amedeo himself played football for the Pack in the late 1950s. This restaurant has withstood the test of time, proudly representing the Wolfpack, and the idea that home cooked family recipes are always better, for over 50 years. Everything at Amedeos is home made from the salad dressings, sauces, the amazing soft, warm Italian bread, and the pizzas, which are second to none in these parts. The servers are quick, professional and friendly, youll feel like part of the family. Go down and see for yourself, Amedeos has it all.
