Honestly, I cant say I agree with the previous reviews. I have been coming here for many years and Ive never had a problem with the service or food. The food has always been good, except one time about a month ago... I didnt like what I ordered, but when I told the manager they immediately changed it for me and it was great. During lunch time its pretty crazy, but the food is really cheap. The place is really old, but I have never seen any bugs there. I used to be waiter at both a casual dining restaurant and fine dining chain and I have to say that bugs can be seen anywhere... Seriously, people. Not that anyone wants to ever see that, but it really does happen. Bottom Line: friends and family love it and I will definitely continue to go!

We were reluctant, but curious. We went and this restaurant is absolutely disgusting. There is no other way to say it. Filthy. The food lacked a lot a flavor, too. The waitstaff werent rude but, very unprofessional. Our forks were dirty. Oh my goodness! The womans restroom was just awful! How is it that this restaurant has been around for years and not been able to AT LEAST renovate the restroom?? The toilet scrubber was on the floor and the walls are so dirty! If you want delicious order by the menu Chinese food go to Xin Xin on north 10TH. I am NEVER coming back here AGAIN.

The food is consistently good and an overall great value for the price especially if you do the lunch specials. The cabbage soup "principio" is one of my favorite things about eating at Lotus and is included "free" with every meal. The water doesnt seem to be filtered as restaurant water should be. They make an attempt to hide the bad taste of McAllen water with a squeeze of lime however the bad taste is very present and obvious. All in all Lotus Inn is one of my preferred Asian restaurants and the service is friendly.

I am absolutely disappointed with this place. It was our familys favorite place but in the last 3 months everything has changed for the worse. The fried rice was extremely dry, almost burnt. The waiter had absolutely no time for us. Only 2 members to the wait staff. One was clearly new & the other was rude & to rush rush. Then our order was brought out wrong. On top of that, we were $7 CHARGED GRATUITY!!! WHAT?!! Never going back.

Great food! The service was a bit slow even though I was one of three people in the whole restaurant. The water tastes like tap water from old pipes. I really feel this restaurant could do soooo much better with just a few small improvements, such as fixing the super tiny bathroom stalls. I do love the vibe of this place and the view out into the garden makes you forget youre in McAllen on 19th St.

Lotus Inn has seen better days! Definite decline in the quality and taste of food. Service was great, but that does not make up for the tasteless food. Starter soup was warm water with boiled cabbage. Disgusting! Shrimp chow mein was hot, but totally tasteless! Added soy sauce, Chinese hot sauce and sweet and sour sauce to no avail! It saddens me to not recommend this restaurant.

Took the family to eat there on a Sunday after church and order the chicken and garlic sauce . Which eating I notice a little almond or it looked but then I saw tentacles and to my surprise it was Roach. The manager on duty told me that it was because they had finished spraying the night before. What an excuse and what an experience never going back there again.

I went on my birthday after finishing school. It was lunch time and they had lunch special we got 2 soups and 2 plates for only $12.75!!!! The atmosphere was great! I love how the restaurant looks really Asian and has an old feeling but I love it! I will come back again for sure❤️ Dont remodel because you feel like your in another country when you go there!

I actually used to consider this place one if the best places to eat Chinese food. A couple of months ago the food has changed, the soup they give you, which I used to love, is not the same. I can say the same thing with the food and egg rolls. Honestly the food is not that bad, but its not like it used to be. Im so disappointed.

The Lotus Inn messed up an 80$ Order I just got by Not including everything I ordered and didnt give me a Refund Or Even Add the stuff they forgot In the First place and when I called to ask about the order the Prople where rude So I would recommend this place to anyone after this!!!!!

I always get the mushroom chicken, its outstanding! The cold lime water is refreshing,and they provide great service, absolutely no complaints. Ive been coming here for over 20 years (McAllen location), so please give it a try.
