First off I hate doing this because this used to be my favorite restaurant. However I went in today to get a to go box and found out that they no longer allow you to serve your own food when you get a to go box. Instead I was given two pieces of butter chicken and a bunch of sauce two pieces of chicken and my curry chicken with a bunch of sauce and was given some rice with some green stuff that I don’t like and I never have this I never get it but I wasn’t given a choice on that and two little chunks of veggie pakora… I then called the restaurant when I got home and realized all of this on top of the fact that I was not even offered any sauces to go along with it… But I tried to call and ask to talk to the owner which I know personally. Upon asking the young lady who also served my food up very rudely LIED TO ME and said the owner was not there! I spoke to him when I was there!!! Questionable whether I will ever go there again with how I was treated today! That young lady needs to be fired!!!! LIARS HAVE NO PLACE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! If K would like to call and speak with me he can let me know here and I will give you my number again!

Listen to my words carefully. I fancy myself somewhat of an Indian food connoisseur. I have been to several Indian restaurants in various states. There was a time in my life when I considered these places to be good. I enjoyed the food, and would visit them frequently. All of that has changed since eating at Maharaja. The food at Maharaja is superior in every way, shape and form to any other Indian restaurant I have experienced. If you want fresh, high quality, mind-blowingly delicious Indian food, you will choose this restaurant. Take the Saag, for example. Saag is a creamed spinach dish, which every other Indian restaurant seems to hate, and so they make it forgetably. At Maharaja, the Saag is creamy, flavorful, spicy and delicious. I could go on, but Im afraid there are not words in the tongues of Elves or Men which can adequately praise this fine establishment. Let me also add that my close Indian friends were also very impressed with this restaurant. Not that this tidbit discredits the negative reviews you might read, but it really does.

We came here for the lunch buffet. There wasnt much of a selection (there was a single island worth of dishes to choose from, ten in all including dessert), and much of it was saltier than we would have liked. The only meat was chicken cooked a few different ways. We expected lamb from an Indian buffet, especially at the $9.95 lunch price. Their "salad bar" consisted of lettuce, tomato, oranges and cucumbers. The naan was burnt, and it appeared that they only covered it in foil when serving themselves. And then they charged us $7.95 for our two year old, who ate a few orange slices and some cucumber! Definitely not worth the nearly $30 we paid for two adults and a two year old. Every other buffet weve ever been to is better priced and has a lot more food.

Just went here for all you can eat lunch buffet. I was very pleased with everything I had. I realize that they dont have that much of a selection and the only meat is chicken however for a quick lunch buffet I dont need the full spread of meats because then I would just eat too much and go into a food coma. So I personally dont mind the choices only being chicken. I do however think that their salad bar is pretty pathetic with just tomato cucumber and iceberg lettuce. Thankfully I dont come to Indian restaurants for a salad bar. I say dont come in here expecting lamb tikka masala or anything fancy like that and youll come out full and happy and ready to continue your work day. Also the price of 9.95 was really fair.

This has been one of the few Indian restaurants in the area that has been fairly consistent with their food quality. We had made our peace initially with the fact that we wont order anything other than vegetarian food from here because we didnt like the weird taste to most chicken dishes at least. But as long as we stick to vegetarian dishes, we leave happy! We like their paneer pepper masala, dal makhni, chana masala, naan and papdi chaat. They serve papad with chutneys while you are waiting for your food and thats very good too. We mostly carry out or eat in for dinner. Whenever we dine in, its fairly empty so we are in and out very quickly and I love that.

Went to get a lunch to go and they wouldnt let me fill my own box. And rude about it. Why? Because I might take a few more ounces of food?? Then charge by weight if youre so cheap. Dont offer to go at a buffet and then expect your customer go accept that you get the right amount of each item they want. I know she intended to fill the whole damn box with rice (as she fills a huge spoonful of it without asking me if I even want rice) Walked out and will never return. Oh and the place was dead at 12:20. Tells me the other reviews are stale.

I have eaten at Maharaja for a few years now and I love this place! The food is excellent, very delicious. During lunch, they have an affordable all-you-can-eat buffet ($10). I always walk out way too full. I wish they offered some seasonal or rotating dishes (maybe they do and Ive missed it), but their standards are amazing (tandori chicken is super delicious, butter chicken is amazing). For dinner, they are a tad pricey, but its so worth it. The restaurant is a bit small too, so get there early.

This is a small but very nice place. Simple and reliable menu. I had been twice here once with my family and once alone. Planning to take my friend very soon. They have very balanced vegetarian and meat/fish dishes on their menu. Rice comes by default with any curry which is great super economical for such good food. The recipe is little softened for Western tongue with perhaps cashew / almond which is not really an Indian way but I appreciate it so that all can enjoy good food

I know, I know. Take out doesnt count since the true reviewer should have the full experience. I must say that just sitting in there waiting for my delicious (ate it all!!!) Shrimp Tandoori has been a very pleasant experience. Outstanding service! Thanks for asking if I needed plastic ware! I can tell this is a family business that cooks authentic Indian cuisine... I know, I know. I am not Indian, but has been the best Tandoori I have had in my life! Best wishes!!

Besides the Portland restaurant Siri, I can confidently say this is the next best Indian eats in the metro area; not even Bollywood in Portland stacks up to Maharaja. Their authenticity and flavor is incredible, and even though everytime my wife and I come to this restaurant its pretty empty, our experience has always been fantastic. Weve always had the same waitress, who is very polite and helpful. I could eat this every week and never get bored.

Dinner menu has a large variety of foods. I settled for the lamb vindalo (spicy) paired with the garlic naan. As well as a cup of tea. While i waited i was served some bread with three sauces. Coconut/sweet/and a green sauce. The green sauce was fantastically spicy and delicious. Dinner was served within 10 minutes and was great not to much not to little. If your in town for dinner i highly recommend trying the maharaja
