Ive been to most, if not all, Indian restaurants in San Francisco, and I can confidently assert that this is the greatest Indian buffet spot in town in regards to value! Im a vegetarian, and I can proudly vouch for all the vegetarian dishes they serve here, save for the saag paneer, but thats just because I dont really like that to begin with. The chana masala is divine and is what primarily consumes my plate estate when I dine in. They also serve varying dishes containing potato which are delicious too. Of course, they have plenty of dishes with meat for you carnivores out there, which my family and friends praise highly too. (Chicken tikka masala is always available, dont worry!) They have lentil soup, salad, pakora (both vegetarian and chicken), and even dessert available for buffet. The waiters are always extremely attentive, and every time Im about to ask for more water, theyre already on their way, pitcher in hand and a smile on their face. Theres never any pressure to leave regardless of how long youve been there, so feel free to come in and enjoy a nice, long, healthy feast in a restaurant filled with a caring staff and casual ambiance!

We come here for the buffet. We are vegetarians and there are plenty of options to get us nice and full for a low price. The food is very tasty, especially the korma. There is enough salad and veggies for people like me who want to eat healthy, but also on occasion love warm, tasty, authentic Indian food. They usually have an eggplant dish, a kidney beans or lentils dish, a potatoes or broccoli dish, veggie pakora, and daal soup.. to name a few vegetarian options. The garlic naan comes with the buffet upon request as well, other Indian buffets will charge extra, so that is nice of them. The staff is always nice and friendly and remembers you even if its been months since your last visit. This is also one of the only Indian dinner buffets in the city, so that is much appreciated when we are craving Indian food!

Disappointed in Star India. I was hoping to find a local Indian place near my apartment for those nights I crave Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan (its one of my guilty Star India disappointed me. My garlic naan has no garlic in sight... did they later on a garlic puree or use garlic powder? I cant tell. I usually like my garlic naans with pieces of garlic floating around, that true toasty-garlic taste. And my chicken tikka masala? Very loose in consistency, and no flavor. The pieces of chicken were generous, but Indian food without flavor might as well be frozen food (even Trader Joes frozen chicken tikka masala and garlic naan are better than this).

The buffet is very affordable and u get to try different kinds of curry. The air is VERY fresh, which is important for Indian restaurant cuz there are ppl afraid of strong smell of spices. Most importantly, the CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT! We were waiting for our friend outside after finishing dinner, and it was too cold so we asked whether we could wait inside. They were super nice and asked us whether we wanted something to drink. If u wanna try Indian food, this place is definitely recommended!

I lived near Star India since 1996 but didnt discover it until 2004... And Ive been going several times a week ever since. We even make special trips from our new home in the East Bay! Ive eaten lots of Indian/Pakistani food over the last few years, and I love lots of places (try House of Curries at Ashby and College in Berkeley), but nothing tops Star India. The all-day and very affordable/absolutely delicious buffet has me hooked. I could really eat here every night! Nicest staff ever, too.

Went to eat dinner and my cup had residue of some sort of yogurt. Complained to waiters and they had me wait for the manager. She didnt come to my table, had me wait for her and made me walk to her instead. Didnt apologize, came up with some lame excuses. Just you know customers come in to restaurants thinking you guys are professionals. Food was mediocre. Will not go back there to eat again

For $10 a person, I really cant complain! The food was pretty good, compared to the dozens of other Indian buffets we frequent in Charlotte NC, with the exception of the tandoori chicken & galaba (sp?) balls, which werent tasty. The waiter took forever to get anything done, & it wasnt even busy. Overall, a decent place for an inexpensive Indian buffet.

The sauce was watery and the papadum sauce tasted like bengay was in it! Called restaurant and made a complaint and all they could say was they were sorry! I would like a refund or at least a free meal next time since I couldnt eat but the rice and the bread. Tikka masal was like water! I dont recommend this place to anyone my stomach hurts now!

The restaurant wasnt busy and the buffet food was fresh, although the niggardly choices were fairly standard. The freshly prepared naan brought to the table was a nice touch, and the free chai, although anemic, was plentiful. Best part? The khir and sweet dessert balls. The wait staff was easy on the eyes, too. Yum.

If youre Indian dont come here bc the food has no flavor whatsoever. If youve never had Indian food, this might be suitable to you bc you wont know what youre missing and please dont make any impressions of Indian foods off of this place.

Food is consistently good. Price is affordable with the buffet meal available for lunch and dinner. I always bring my friends here b/c they can enjoy meats and vegetarian items from the buffet. AND you cannot beat the buffet price!

Food was not fresh and it was cold. The rice had a weird smell and the Currys tasted bad. The only good food was the naan which was fresh, but other than that the food was disappointing. I would have given no star if I could.

The service is fantastic, very courteous and attentive. I had the tandoori chicken and saffron rice, the boyfriend had the buffet. Their rice pudding is some of the best Ive had and the mangos lassis are excellent.

$10.99 all you can eat Indian buffet during lunch or dinner. They had a decent spread, food was tasty with a wide selection. Wish the Gulab Jamun was warm. Served cold here. Friendly staff, neighborhood favorite.

Cannot comment about their other food, but the Chicken Tandori Pizza is the best! (Yes, it sounds odd to Philly transplant, but even I was a quick convert). I would say skip the buffet and go for the pizza!

We mainly had non-veg food and the food was tasty. Dont expect too much items in buffet, but was worth $10. The dessert was OK. Golab Jamun was cold and hard. Tea had a different taste.

We enjoyed the $10.99 all you can eat buffet, but the reason for the 4 was there was nothing unique about the experience. The service was great though, which is a big plus for me!

This is a great choice for reasonably priced tasty Indian fare on a weeknight. All you can eat food bar for $11 and you cant go wrong with the Tiki Masala.
