Ive only had Tara via delivery, and its by far the best one in my area. I used get my food from Alhamra, but it would usually take 90 minutes (sometimes more) to get our order and it would often be lukewarm. Taras food is better, hotter, and timely. And its actually some of the best Indian food Ive had in a long time. Weve had the Vindaloo, Curry, and Tikka Masala. Tara is now my go-to Indian restaurant. A special acknowledgement for the fact that they actually make it spicy when we ask them to make it very, very spicy. Id love to give them an extra star for that, but five is the max and they already deserve that.

I thought the service was good, all the waiters were so very nice and advised me on vegan options (which are also marked on the menu). The veg. momos tasted great, and were my favorite dish, even if they were breaking apart. My entree was just okay... I was upset when the dish my husband ordered, which was labelled VEGAN on the menu, was added cream. And we found out by chance when asking clarification for something else... If it says vegan next to it on the menu, why do you add cream to it?! Obviously we were not going to share that one anymore. Not sure it needs a second visit unless I am craving just momos...

Me and my friends were looking for a mysterious vegan restaurant that may or may not actually exist, going in circles through Noe, Castro, and the Mission. Just as we were getting ready to give up the pursuit, we drove by this place and liked the vibe. The decor is awesome - walls covered with paintings of traditional Indian bronze statues. Food was solid if unmemorable. Tasty offerings of the standard north Indian classics, prepared more simply than your Americanized Indian restaurant. Combined with the location near Dolores, would definitely come back again.

Wow. Why did I wait 17 years to go here? Best Indian in SF, easily. Beats Indian Oven, especially in authenticity. Did you know that Tara Indian makes their tikka sauce by using only tomatoes without skin, and hand removing the seeds? The result is the most buttery sauce Ive ever had. Naan is long, thin, not fat bread like they want to fill you up. Kashmiri Chicken is the most popular chicken, and I easily saw why. Get a masala chai tea. I ate so much, never felt bloated, and will be going back soon. One of the best kept secrets of the neighborhood.

Came late to have dinner, the manager said there was no problem! After I ordered my meal, I was put into pressure to finish my meal! The waiter (extremely rude) dropped my dish at the table and said: "eat fast" .. they turned off the music, and I had a complete unpleasant night! They just wanted to sell me food, but attended me in a very rude way! Oh, I havent added any tip in my credit card, but they added anyways, by themselves! Which is fraud! Awful experience and restaurant..

Dined here again and it was decent. I feel like the quality of the food is different from what it used to be 2-3 years ago. We feel like the service is fine but generally lacking because management might have changed. I like their cocktails but their wines by the glass arent that great. I wish that there were better options especially for the white wines by the glass as Indian food goes well with white wines.

Despite positive reviews here and other popular review site I was disappointed with their food. I ordered butter chicken and lamb korma. You can judge Indian restaurant by the way they make butter chicken. Mine was watered down shredded pieces of chicken that looked more like like leftovers than actual dish. Small expensive portions. Not buying there anymore.

This place has some truly amazing indian food. I was happy that they actually have their spice to their food - a lot of indian restaurants tend to mute their spices because most people cant handle it. I was able to talk to the server about the level I could handle and I was really pleased with what they served me.

The food is delicious with all the traditional dishes offered. The chiken vindaloo was the group favorite as was the khadi ghost. Also the prices were not bad. Good food good service and good prices in a good location. So far the best traditional Indian place Ive eaten in the bay

Overpriced and food was not good , and I am Indian. I know what Indian good is like . I really did not like any of the dishes. There were too many onion seeds in every dish . I dont think they need that many onion seed . they need spice !

Friendly service and pretty decent food. SF isnt known for quality Indian food, but this is a good choice for the area. Check out Udupi in the Mission for something a bit more "authentic".

Great food, atmosphere, and service. I had the Butter Chicken Masala and it was amazing. Entrees do not come with rice, so make sure to add to your order.
