Terrible food and service. I am not one to write unfavorable reviews, but felt compelled after my experience with Mehak. The samosa was extremely bland, and the chicken tikka masala tasted like it has come out of a frozen meal box. They forgot to include a part of my order during delivery, and hadnt bothered to check beforehand - I happened to open my packet as the delivery guy was walking down the stairs and noticed a missing component that I had already paid for. I called after him, and instead of apologizing profusely, he smiled sheepishly and asked whether it would be ok if we let it go this time (yeesh!) stating that it would be too difficult to go back and get it for me. No proactive offer to take it off the bill, to discount my next order, to go get the missing item for me! I had him take if off the bill and have vowed never to eat here again. This has to have been the worst customer experience I have ever had.

This is definitely good North Indian food, theres no question about that. And delivery is always prompt, and its free, which is a good thing. They also give you a lot of rice, more than you probably need. I take off a star because they once mixed up my order, but they were very apologetic when I called and quickly brought the right food. Also, the quality is a bit variable. Once the food was absolutely excellent, and another time it was bland and disappointing. But I still come back to Mehak when Im in the mood for North Indian food because I know its the best in Berkeley. I dont think you can beat South Indian dosas, though. South Indian is also healthier, they use a lot less butter. Oh, and make sure you have exact change, because they dont carry change, and when they do give you a few dollar bills back they always round up. Ive probably lost $10 just from not having exact change.

Unbelievably amazing! Just found this place today and could not believe the food quality for the price. They had a $3.99 lunch special, which has a wide choice of curries and it comes with Naan and rice! I got the chicken tikka masala and it was amazing! An easy 8! Im not sure about Colleens review of it because it was exactly how they described they liked it. It wasnt watery or hot, but creamy and perfect! Maybe they changed it. Anyway, I cant believe they only charge $3.99, Ive been to places that charge that much just for Naan. I also got the vegetable samosas and they were some of the best Ive ever had, hands down! I spent less then $9 and even had leftovers for dinner. I cant recommend this place enough.

Heard about this place via Google Offers, and tried it for the first time today. We will definitely be coming back. My wife had the buffet (featuring 3 different chicken dishes and some vegetarian items). Normally, she doesnt like buffet-style chicken dishes, due to their texture, but she loved all 3. I prefer lamb dishes, and had the Ginger Lamb, which was fantastic. We also both liked their chai, and their mixed appetizer plate. We brought home some Chicken Tikka Masala for our son (its his favorite Indian dish, from any Indian restaurant), and he devoured it, together with the Naan we had also brought home. We will definitely return.

Weve been getting home delivery from Mehak for nearly 7 years, since our child was born and we couldnt get ourselves out of the house. It was started by cooks from Breads of India , the much more fashionable restaurant across the street. While the restaurant is very simple in decor, we find the food to be much tastier, and much less expensive. And there are no lines. With one or two exceptions, it has always been outstanding- and weve had a lot of mediocre Indian food from other restaurants.

Mehak is terrific - the food is tasty, the portions generous, some of the dishes cant easily be found elsewhere. The staff are very helpful and friendly, but not intrusive, and theyre never slow to bring a course. We love Mehak so much that when we cant spend the time to order a meal there, we call for take-out, and enjoy it at home. It could be that their take-out portions are even more generous, maybe to make up for us missing being there with them.

No nonsense Indian food. You know theyre good when they compete with another Indian place across the street (way more flavorful here). They seem to mainly do delivery/takeout (Ive gone in multiple times where there was no-one in the dining room, but stacks of takeout were visible & they were bustling with delivery drivers). Friendly staff, quick turnaround, very reasonable prices.

This place is a worst place I have ever been. Its dirty and they give you fry rice if you order biryani. When I asked the owner/ manager he became so angry and became so rude to me. He mentikned that he dont care if it doesnt look like a biryani... and said thats what we make and we dont care if you dkbt come here. Very rude and dirty place. I regreat that I went there.

The saag paneer was excellent. I had had saag paneer elsewhere for lunch that day and didnt even want it for dinner, but even so couldnt stop eating it. But the chicken biryani was terrible, bland and lacking in the aromatic spices i expect from biryani. It tasted like Spanish rice ... Really disappointing.

Zero rating!!! Very Bad Indian food... - Punjabi Chicken curry was tasting like Fish curry. - Roti was hard and not tasty. Etc... So nothing was good... If u really want to have Indian food... Never think of this restaurant.

Dont pay attention to Googles description: they do NOT serve lunch buffet and the waiter looked at me like I was nuts when I asked. Otherwise, the food is great for the price. Almost impossible to find such deals.

You could live on $3-$5 per day in Berkeley by eating lunch here daily. A lot of their regular dishes are only $3-5 and come with naan and rice, enough to take home leftovers for dinner. Seriously great bargain.

SOOOO delicious. a thousand times better than breads of india across the street. Its cheap and "oh-so-tasty!" Try the lamb curry coconut dish. The cucumber salad and the saag paneer is also fantastic! :)

You wont find a cheaper place for a satisfying lunch! Dinner prices on the other hand are more normal and will make you notice not everything about this place is great, in particular on the cleanliness front.

This place had easy street parking and great tikka masala. The portions are giant (at least for take out), and not spicy at all, if requested. Definitely our new go to Indian restaurant.

Best service I experienced in Cali. In addition to a great price for the quality and quantity of food. And the server wouldnt even accept a large tip

The chicken tikka masala was fantastic. I am also a huge fan of paneer and it hit the spot. All in all, I think this will be my favorite in Berkeley!
