Im going to try to be quick, but there is a lot to say here. This rating is mostly for the food, it is wonderful, authentic and carefully prepared food. The ramen and sushi are the best you will find in charlotte. Period. They will not do take out for the ramen, the ramen will go mushy and cold they say and they are correct. I respect their pride for their work. It is a small place that is sometimes packed, it can be slow to be seated, served, and to pay. Sometimes the server can be seen as rude, especially when they are busy. Thats just the way it is here. I personally think its a privilege to have sushi, ramen and other Japanese dishes of such quality available to me, so everything else is forgivable. 90% of the time i have an awesome experience with the service at this restaurant. 100% of the time the food is great. If you can set aside entitlement and just allow time for this place you will be in for a treat.

I would rate it zero stars. It was the worst experience ever. The food was disgusting!! We ordered the chicken teriyaki. They serve you slices of chicken with gravy on top. Im not sure what type of sauce that was, but it was disgusting. You also get some type of noodles with tuna and a salad that covered the entire plate. $14 for a plate and only ate the white rice. The waitress did not come by again to ask if we needed anything. We paid and as we were walking to the car, the waitress runs after us. I thought maybe we forgot something. She came outside to ask us for tip $. I told her i was not going to give her tip because the service & food were horrible!! Im never coming back to this place again!!! I mean i have never tasted japanese food so horrible and never have i experienced this. When we left there we just stopped by mcdonalds and got some food because we were still hungry.

Worst service ever!! The owner lady never seems happy... We ordered 3 lunch items and every one of them came out at different times. My husbands miso ramen came out when I was all done with my katsu and no one ever bothered to say sorry or checked on our table. When we were done all ready to leave, they made us stand by the door for 5min with that owner lady walking by us not even asking what we need help with. Instead of giving us a check, that owner lady went ahead and took a togo order from the guy who just walked in. Seriously, there were only three tables including us!! They really need to realize how bad their service is....

years ago I ate at a great little tempura shop down the street from the Musashi-Sakai station in Tokyo. I was surprised to see a restaurant called Musashi in Charlotte, but it surpasses my expectations. this is as close to an authentic Japanese restaurant youll get in Charlotte. sure, there are other places that have cool decor, fancy lighting, and other hip touches that impress white yuppies - but if you want real sushi and superlative tempura, go to Musashi. suggestion: in the winter order a Tendon Box instead of sushi; it is cold weather comfort food.

The mister took me here for my birthday it was amazing and it was amazing. So worth the wait and if i could i would go back again. got to meet her and she was so humble and thanking us that we came to dine at her place. I know some people might think its overpriced and stuck up but it is not like it here. the food and service was perfect loved every single dish! you wont regret it and if you can watch chef table first before you eat here it gives a different experience. that pasta is to die for!!!

We went on a Saturday 7-ish pm and waited and waited for anyone to get my name or tell us the waiting time, something. Nobody cared, even though the lady who was at the front at that moment took the number of people for a table to the guy in front of me and ignored us like we were invisible. She went serving tables ... I thought Japanese people were polite and atentive ...maybe not in here. I took my business elsewhere.

Amazing restaurant, my wife has lived in Japan for 6 months and we had her nephew from Japan visit us and everyone says its EXACTLY how they are in Japan. The food is AMAZING! If you love sushi or ramen you wont leave unhappy. The family who runs it are GREAT GREAT people. Dont be surprised if you have to wait though, I usually go after the lunch rush or before the dinner rush because it gets full really fast.

I dont think reviewers realize that this is an authentic Japanese restaurant. There are some cultural differences like calling the waitress to your table rather than them waiting on you hand and foot. Its an authentic place. If youve been to Japan before, you will appreciate the atmosphere and service. Its a cultural experience.

Had a fantastic experience. Definitely a hidden gem here in Charlotte. For those of you looking for authentic Japanese dinner, look no further. From sushi to ramen and katsu plates, this place has it all. The establishment is small. Only down side is service is a bit slow and there will be a wait guaranteed. So have patience.

After our move to Charlotte, this "hafu" asked some Japanese patrons at Hatoya Mart to recommend a place with authentic Japanese food. Musashi is the one place they agreed was the best. The lunch specials are reasonably priced and taste delicious! I love noodles and the Udon and ramen are always great.

Exceptional sushi and very good ramen and other traditional Japanese fare. The prices are a little high and expect rough customer service if you dont speak Japanese, but I suppose its all part of their charm. Warning, do not attempt to go with a large group and split the check, its a bit of a nightmare.

This is the most authentic Japanese food in Charlotte. They have daily Bento boxes that rotate, delicious ramen, and amazing Katsu-don plates. You have to come here if youre looking for real Japanese food. The décor is great as well, including paper wall dividers and floor seating.

Is the service here a JOKE? Got there around dinnertime on a Monday. Place was half full. Asked for takeout. The guy said they were not taking takeout orders. It would take at least one hour, and they will not take takeout orders. Thats a first!

This is the real deal when it comes to Japanese. Love the sushi...its the freshest. Also love the noodle bowls. Many Japanese families are in the restaurant which helps with the authentication of how good their food is. Real gem if you find it.

Sushi made by family of Japanese origin and not Chinese or Mexican which is rare in Charlotte. If you are a sushi snob and accustomed to the Japanese culture, you will like/love it. Otherwise, go elsewhere and enjoy your Mexican "sushi" por favor.

Consistently the best and most authentic Japanese in town. Best Ramen, especially the Tonkatsu. If you are comfortable, order off the separate Japanese menu (they will translate if asked) which features beef tongue, jellyfish in mirrin, etc.

Ordered teriyaki chicken to go for lunch one day. I got what appeared to be a boiled chicked chicken breast with no seasoning and some teriyaki sauce on the side. This is not at all what I would have expected given the other reviews.
