DO NOT EAT HERE. I have never had such terrible customer service in my life. I ordered 40 dollars worth of food for delivery through grubhub. The man dropped off our food but then we realized one of our entrees was missing. So we called the restaurant and were met with immediate attitude from the hostess one the line, then were accused of lying when the supervisor got on the phone until they (finally) realized that the mistake was theirs and they forgot to give the delivery person our order. They simply told us we had to come pick it since they dont do delivery themselves, and we demanded reimbursement for the 8-10 dollars worth of delivery fees and taxes we wasted ordering through grub hub only to have to pick it up anyway, which they agreed to. We then showed up to the restaurant, where the hostess gave more attitude AGAIN and the supervisor told me the grub hub person showed up and they gave the food and reimbursement cash to him but didnt call us to let us know. Which means we wasted a trip driving there because they simply didnt want to call us. They gave us a new entree but still did not reimburse us since they claimed to give the money to the driver (who claims he refused the money due to protocol) I will never eat here again because this whole process took 30-45 minutes for mediocre food

It was my first visit to the restaurant on September 15th 2015 with a friend of mine and my daughter. The waitress didnt speak a single word of English nor did she understand it. So from the beginning I was a bit frustrated. After finishing our appetizers, our sushi came out. The waitress handed my friend a Sriracha and mayo dish and I just asked for Sriracha. She then told me that they dont have any Sriracha when she just clearly handed my friend some. So I gave up. Before I even took a bite of the sushi my friend saw a roach crawl on the wall of the booth and jumped up. I used my daughters lid to her cup to fling it on the table and trap it. The waitress walked up and calmly tried to hand me a napkin to kill it. I wasnt about to do that... We ended up leaving the restaurant and not leaving a dime for the appetizers consumed. I would NOT recommend dining at this restaurant. I woke up this morning with a terrible stomach ache and a disgusted feeling from even stepping foot in that place.

When we went, we had sushi and Hibachi Chicken. The food was excellent and was a good value. The real only "ding" I am going to give them is that at the end of our meal, a cockroach jumped at me from behind the booth. Since we went in the summer and we were pretty much done with the meal, I almost didnt mind and could even understand why. However, when we told them what was going on, they offered neither an apology nor any other type of resolution. They just laughed about it. I understand that any restaurant could have these issues, but the way they seemed to ignore the issue may signal other problems they may be ignoring. Note: I did return for take out a few days later and had no issues with the food.

The staff was terrific, the restaurant was clean and charming to look around. The food was not good. Only the shrimp shumai and pan fried dumplings are tasty. The miso soup was water with seaweed, no miso flavor could be detected. I ordered a spicy red and golden dragon roll, friend ordered the eel and spicy salmon roll. My rolls werent spicy at all and lacking the tempura flakes or masago as advertised. It was poorly rolled and tiny. For over $9 a roll, Im expecting a bit more. The eel roll had a tiny sliver of eel in some bites but mostly it was all cucumber. The salmon wasnt spicy. I wont be back.

Its true, they have a slightly limited menu but at the same time what they have is VERY good and reasonably priced. The service is excellent, all the waiters are very friendly in a quiet way, the food comes out VERY fast and with the fast entrees it is usually plenty of food. I also appreciate that when it comes to eating out, this is probably one of the more healthy places to do it. Mostly non-fried food, veggies are included (though the carrots are well sweetened) bottom-line I dont feel about after eating there. Try it out, at worst youll be out a few bucks.

My first time I eat in and it was really great ,second time I went in and ordered to go.got home and there was like 4 pieces of chicken in my teriyaki chicken so once again I go in and order to eat in . The meal was not great at all it was too runny .There were 4 girls one at the register and 3 on the floor including my waitress which never once came over and ask me if I needed anything. All four were sitting down all on there phones.I will never eat there again and then I looked up and they had a 91 score!!

My food had a roach in it and when I went to restaurant to return the food they were upset at me for asking for a refund. They refunded the money for the teriyaki chicken with rice where I found the roach but not for the sushi roll because I had eaten half of the sushi when I saw the roach on the chicken. The cashier got really close to be pulling out his chest as if he was about to hit me and yelled at me for wanting my money back for all the food. WORSE SERVICE EVER!!! DONT EAT HERE!

They make the sushi/food incredibly fast which is good and questionable at the same time. The sushi is not the best I have had but it definitely satisfies my taste buds! I really like their plates that include the rice with the veggies. Those dishes bring this amazing sauce along with it and it can be used to put on your food and I sometimes even dip my sushi in it. Yum!! I believe on Wednesdays they have the special which is 50% off all sushi but that can always change.

Religiously I return here for some of the best Japanese Food in Town. Does NOT get any better than this! Environment is awesome: Waiters are Very Friendly! Decor is Beautiful! Menu is Easy to order from! Food is at a Great Reasonable Price! Convenient area to all your shopping desires on Highway 74 after you eat! I actually reside/live in Burlington and when I visit Charlotte I pass through Matthews for my favorite Restaurant! Try it and it will become yours!!! ;)

I am re-reviewing Shiki as I have been a few times since my last review. The day I went on the last review must have been an off day because since then I have not had any issues. I do not order the ginger dressing any more as it is to spicy for my taste. The service is always friendly and fast and the food is good. The habitchi chicken and steak with mushrooms is my go to. The fried dumplings are satisfying, if you are looking for a good meal quick Shiki is the answer.
