Horrible service. Done with this place. Im done with this place. Ive been here four times for dinner and the service has always been mediocre but its close to my office. Today service was exceptionally bad. So here is the last straw. I went in with a coworker for dinner around 7pm, we waited five minutes for the hostess while waitresses looked at us and didnt say a thing. When finally seated by a very grumpy looking hostess who sat us right by the sink of the bar. Of course we moved ourselves to a different table since the place was 1/2 full. Waited another 3 minutes and let my co-worker know that "Im getting a bad vibe feeling" lets leave. We drove 8 minutes to my favorite place, Yotsuba on Hogback. Yotsuba was the ying to the yang. Yostuba is bright with a definite Japanese feel (hanging cloth signs over doors, etc). Greeted by the owner as soon as we walked in with a smile. We had an amazing waitress, within 5 minutes we had green tea and tempura. We ordered a bunch of spicy sushi and ramen. Awesome as always. Thank you Yotsuba for saving the night and allowing me to keep face with my co-worker from Gross Pointe.

Ok wow - that was truly awful. Hate to leave such a negative review but every aspect of the dining experience was bad. Saw some older reviews that seem to imply things were better here in the past - I very much hope they were at some point. The wait staff looked like they would rather be anywhere but there. Really just a depressing vibe. Normally I would say that we caught the place on a bad night and leave it at that but the food was amazingly bad. Stale rice, rubbery gyoza wrappers... the eel was not fresh. Im just wondering why they would choose to serve food like that. Also expensive. Normally I would give a place a second chance but just cant in this case. I should have simply returned the food and left (my bad). Truly, save yourself the regret. I guess I can say (on a more positive note) that the service was fast.

Growing up around the corner, I used to come here all the time. Everything is so expensive now!! The specialty rolls and sashimi are good quality, but not worth the increased price. They charge more than sushi restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor. They also charge a lot for simple fare like dumplings and spring rolls. On top of that service is downright terrible. I think thats why most people do not eat in the restaurant but get take out (including myself). The waitresses are not friendly, they always have an attitude and sport a frown. Usually the restaurant is empty so there is no justification for slow service. The sushi chefs are all very nice!

Glad I didnt base my review on the first visit. The bar tender makes a good drink but is not attentive. First time was good. Second was horrible. This is based on the second. She took my order for two rolls and a yakisoba noodles. Took forever. When I finished the sushi rolls my noodles still had not come. Then she gave my order to someone else and brought me theres. I was there an hour and was fed up so I left all she had to say was Ill get the order in now. I told her never mind I need to leave. Wont be back there. Also the spicy salmon roll were hunks of salmon too big to chew and nothing spicy about it.

As a UM student Ive tried all the Sushi places Ann Arbor has to offer, and Godaiko charges double what all the other places charge per roll. Yes, its good, but in my opinion its no better than what the others (i.e. Sadako, Sushi.come) have to offer, so there is no justification in charging so much. You dont even get miso soup or salad included with your meal, as all other sushi places on central campus do. My suggestion - go elsewhere if youre looking for the most bang for your buck.

Decent, but overpriced. We had the daily special on Saturday, which consisted of a half price sushi roll. The rice was underdone and hard, and the fish was on the slimy side. At half price, it was just adequate. If Id paid full price, Id have been unhappy. Didnt try the grill items, they might be worth the prices, but from the descriptions, it doesnt look like it. Service was ok, but we came in the early afternoon on a Saturday, and the place was practically empty.

I simply cannot recall a restaurant meal that Ive enjoyed so much. In Philadelphia for a brief, last-minute trip, we booked a late dinner at Vetri (last table seated that evening). It was worth staying up for -- every dish was exquisite, especially the famed gnocchi, light as air. And the service was so cheerful, engaged and considerate. Worth every penny and every minute. We may come back to Philly just to eat here again.

I love love love the food and service at Godaiko. The quality of food would bring me back even if they didnt have spectacular service but the service is excellent too! I always have my favorite dishes but the staff have been very helpful in getting me to try new dishes too. I bring my family in for dinner, my colleagues in for lunch meetings and friends and I meet here regularly for weekend dinners. SPECTACULAR.

As an Ann Arbor native my family and I frequent Godaiko. The wait staff and owner/chef are bomb diggity, and their sushi is absolutely the best in town. This is not only the best sushi bar, but also the best RESTAURANT in Ann Arbor. Would recommend for Ann Arbor natives and those just here visiting. Also their Tatami rooms are GREAT for business meetings.

Ive been all over the country and anytime I am in a big city - I look for the best Sushi place in town. I still cant find anything close to the quality I get here right at home. And the presentation is also top-notch. If you go for lunch and sit at the Sushi bar for the best experience - youll probably get to talk with the owner/Sushi chef.

For the third time that I give this place a chance they did desapoint again, for the price they charge this place should be perfect in all aspects, staff and manager not so good, food presentation not so good, service horrible and the atmosphere became all about the money, never go there again. But luckily it is better sushi in town to eat.

Reasonably priced and creative veggie options. The ginger dressing for salads should be bottled and sold in bulk its SO good. I have been here several times, but extensive times between. The server actually remembered us and most of the things we order. I have never had a bad experience here. Try the banana dessert!!

This was attractive to us because they offered both ramen and sushi. Unfortunately both of us found both the ramen and sushi to be okay at best, and the service somewhat surly. I think wed have been better off going downtown and starting at Totoro and then walking to Tomukun if we wanted both sushi and ramen.

Service is practically non-exist. Expect to wait forever to get seated or to just get a check, even if there is only a few tables occupied, two or three waitresses wandering around doing absolutely nothing but ignoring customers. Food is ok. But be aware and get prepared for mediocre experienced!
