Discovered this gem after taking a long overdue trip to visit some good friends. We were hungry and this place stood out to us as a cool little dive to have a few beers and some grub. We walked in and took a seat at the booth next to the bar and the waitress gave us our menus and took our drink orders. The vibe of the place is nice, clean and makes you feel like youre at some hidden gem where only locals go. They had a few TVs playing the golf game and a few others playing some music videos. Very interesting mix of music (mostly 90s/80s stuff if I remember correctly). Once we got our Grapefruit Sculpins on deck, we decided to order some coconut shrimp and some wings. We went with the Teriyaki wings and the Lemon Pepper wings. (They have about a dozen wing flavors to choose from, which made it a little difficult to decide) Both were delicious, but the coconut shrimp was the star of the show. Nice huge shrimp and a light coconut coating made these puppies stand out. If youre looking for a place to kick it with a few friends and have a cocktail or beer, I suggest you get your ass over there.

Usually come here for lunch with my coworkers. The food is excellent, wings are awesome, beer selection is on point for what they have to offer. They have daily specials which have always hit the spot for me, as well as a burger of the month. Service is excellent, they even offer complimentary credit card storage for you when you forget to take it home with you two, or three, or maybe four times. Oh, sometimes they also have keep the glass events when they get a special keg in. So far Ive gotten some cool glasses from Ballast Point and Green Flash. Ive found that it works best to keep the glass(es) if you remember to take them with you when you leave. Ive even brought my wife and infant son here, she loves the wings. For the record, I didnt forget her at the bar.

Pillbox Tavern is a great little open air bar right in the heart of Solana Beach. The cuisine is top-notch and unique. Theyve got more varieties of wings than most wing shops and they do them up right. The atmosphere is bright without being overbearing. The bartenders and cocktailers actually are excellent. You wont feel neglected or under served as is the case in so many places these days. I cant speak highly enough of this fine little addition to Solana Beach nightlife.

The first time I went there they burnt my burger and took for ever to serve it. They ended up comping it. Cool. The second time the bartender girl was so rude I bailed. The third time ordered the humus and chips and it never came. 3 strikes. I dont really think you guys know anything about Pillbox. Be kind to the town. My family has been here in Solana Beach since 1940. Service is everything. Get with it!

We ordered buffalo wings, tots, French fries, tortilla chips & salsa. So appetizers were good and fresh. All American sliders was good too. Awesome wings. Great tots. Pretty solid fish tacos, but the competition is tougher in the area for those. Love the open air vibe and the TV screens for sports. Limited but locally focused and well selected beer options. But I cant say enough good much I love their wings. Really solid.

Burger Mondays are great! Good deal on a burger with a beer. Not a ton of beers on tap, but they have some good local ones. The restaurant itself is small and can get pretty loud, but its a good place to come for food and a beer.

I love this place, one of the better little pubs in the area. My only compaint is the place is often understaffed, other than that, THE BOMB!!! Try the buffalo tenders or the blackened chicken club or the veggie quesadilla.
