I have been to many restaurants that serve sushi, and tried a wide variety of rolls. This place has the best sushi Ive had... Infact the meal I had here may have been the single greatest meal I have ever had in my life. We ordered four rolls to start. The Ceviche and the Royal Treatment, as well as two of the specialty rolls which were the honey smoked ham and the (this may be wrong) sun child. Every time I chewed the flavor changed and it was like fireworks in my mouth. The Ceviche was like biting into a light soft delicious cloud. The Royal treatment was a very tasty and filling roll that was definitely one of my favorites. The honey smoked ham roll didnt literally contain honey smoked ham, nor did it taste like it, but it gave you sensations that reminded you of it in such a unique and fun way. The sun child had a sudden surprise crunch that you dont see coming and its super fun and it works with the flavor. When we finally finished up I couldnt pick one favorite, although I high enjoyed the honey smoked ham roll. The staff was excellent and our waitress was very nice, when she asked us if we wanted any more we couldnt say no. She suggested the anaconda roll with a different sauce than what was on the menu and we had to give it a shot. When it came I was absolutely blown away. It was by far my favorite, maybe because I enjoy different/exotic/weird foods such as eel or maybe because it was just amazing. Who cares though because oh my gosh this roll was superb. We also ordered a desert to go which was something with beats and goat cheese. We took it home and shared it with the family and everyone loved it. Id go back in a heartbeat, the food was delicious, the staff was pleasent, and the environment was different and cool. The wait for food wasnt long at all which was surprising because the place was about 3/4 full (there were still plenty of seats) The ONLY problem I experienced was that they didnt have my favorite soda, which is no problem at all. For all that we ordered the final price was about 100 dollars. Its a little pricey but I highly recommend it and will be going back myself.

Lowest customer service I have had in a long time. After waiting at the front for a full minute while watching staff chat between themselves in the back, my party was approached and asked " has she assisted you". Well I am not sure whom she is and if I was assisted I would not be standing at the front of the establishment staring at staff as they walk by. After this odd encounter, I informed the staff member that I had a party of five and would like to dine in. The staff member asked if I had a reservation which I did not. The staff did inform me I was free to sit at the bar with my party of five and the menu would be the same. At this time a member of my party apologized for not making reservations as they had thought about it. When told that we had thought about reservations the staff proceeded to blame me for not having a reservation and was proud to inform me that they are busy all week and I was wrong to arrive on a Tuesday without a reservation. We then proceeded over to the bar while the staff walked away leaving us with no menu and no service. After consulting with my party we did decide to leave, and as we left we got what I can only describe as the evil eye from the staff. I will probably not be coming back, which is a shame as the establishment looked pretty cool. For the record the appropriate way to handle a customer without a reservation when the establishment is over capacity is to apologize that due to your great service and food you are booked at this time, however, the party is free to sit at the bar until a table opens which would be in about 30 minutes and then actually escort the party to the bar and proceed to pass out menus and take orders. You want to take extra care of any customer that arrives when an establishment is full as they are the most at risk of having a bad experience, as I did. I hope this review assists you in remembering where you started from and to come down a bit form your high cloud, every customer counts, no matter how busy you are.

Prepare to leave hungry. This is one of those places that knows its business and market, and that is people willing to spend a lot of money for very little (albeit good quality) food. If youre really looking forward to spending a siginificant chunk of your paycheck towards 4 pieces of decent sushi, or a miniscule cut of well-seasoned steak, then sure, go for it. Otherwise, youll probably end up like me, and head to the adjacent Taco Bell afterwards because youll leave hungry! Horrible! Service was alright -- nothing much to complain about there other than the general busyness/crowded conditions of the place. Nothing that could really be helped by waitstaff, so you cant begrudge them for their popularity. This place really would have been okay if the portions were somehow designated on the menu blatantly. As it stands, most of the entree items price range from $12-20+, and the fact is that you would expect any dish of this price range in any other Oviedo-area restaurant to at least fill you up. This is not the case here. Prepare to spend a lot or leave hungry. Would highly not recommend unless they sized up portions or lowered prices significantly. Youre basically paying a premium for well-seasoned appetizers. To be fair, the cut of steak I got was very tasty and nicely seasoned! But boy, it was TINY! Avoid unless you know what youre getting into. Id recommend virtually any other restaurant in the area, if only in the interest of leaving the restaurant like you had actually eaten a meal for what youre paying.

Oviedo was a very odd place for this borderline pretentious, niche market. Lots of flash, not so much smash.. and bring plenty of cash. Sushi Pop dares to bring a thick vainer of a faux-modernist, pseudo-Asian.. uh.. thing... An injection of culture in the middle of a driving range? The bottom line remains that the overall theme of the establishment is forced. From the Ikea catalog showroom interior, the laughably "edgy" ensembles of the staff, all the way down to the gimmicky water bottles, and pipette soy applicators. Though in some places this would actually be a fairly good fit, but in Oviedo.. Well, to this reviewer.. I am lost.. Because with the glitter and glamour comes a costly, oversimplified, and marginal selection of sushi. Much like a 1st graders pasta art adorned with food coloring and glitter, it really is just a distraction from something mundane at best. I will give credit to the friendly staff. they do try their best to perpetuate this 1980s throwback to when sushi was not bought in Winn dixie, and had a gourmet appeal to it. The menu is very small, and if you are a vegetarian you will be very disappointed. For something that looks the part, they do not offer many alternatives for the alternative culture. So, to me they are all looks, and no follow through. The food is.. okay.. Nothing to write home about. Times have changed, and I do think that sushi pop should spend more time working on making an impression in the kitchen, and stop trying to give Avril Levine a run for her money.
