I had a terrible experience here. I had come in with 6 other coworkers and we had ordered the "Curry with onions and potatoes." I asked for tofu, since I am a vegetarian, which I specified, and when the dish was brought to me, it was the tonkatsu curry. No one else had received tofu either so I asked to have it removed and tofu intead. When she brought out the tofu it was uncooked and just completely plain in a small cup. I didnt complain and just ate that, however after a few bite, I realized something was off...I pulled some beef out of my mouth. I had asked about the the curry and she said it was cooked with beef and I had already specified I was a vegetarian. It was infuriating to have had to compromise my own ethical beliefs because they did not properly label their menu and to have a waitress not pay attention to my order, as we were her only table.

I have been going to this location for nearly eight years now and the only thing I have ever had to complain about would be the fact that the place is forever understaffed because the owners arent willing to hire more people even when they know that the restaurant will always be swamped on minor holidays and especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. But beyond the general slowness of the service at times, the food is beyond wonderful, the sushi chefs are funny and definitely make the place an experience, and above all, it tastes authentic (with the exception of the imitation crab of course, but you got to work with what you got)

One of the best Sushi restaurants Ive eaten in nationwide. On par with the best in New York, DC, LA, and San Francisco, and still the least expensive quality place in town. I rarely even order from the menu anymore and just ask the Chef to "make me something good" because I have no fear that it will be just that. When I do, the Mark Diablo is hands down my favorite, and some of the fresh Sashimi and sushi are often rare delicacies not offered even on the coasts. The quality is 5 star. Im with Ben below, if I could go more than twice a month Id have a seat with my name on it at the bar.

This is my favorite sushi place in either Omaha or Lincoln. I have never been disapointed and always gone home happy. Their sushi rolls are amazing, my favorite being the Alantic, Tijuana, and X/O Spider. Their hot meals are good as well as not everybody in my family enjoys sushi. They dont have the fastest service, but its a nice pace and allows you to enjoy your meal. I have ate there over a dozen times and have only ever had one off piece of tuna out of everything I have ever ordered. If you go here you will NOT be dissapointed.

I was so excited to find a yakiniku place in Omaha after Living in northern Japan for 3 years. Loved all the different dishes they had as well as the authenticity of the restaurant itself. I had everything available to me that was in Japan Itself. I will be back and have been raving to everyone who will listen to me about it. For all those hating on the ambience, this place is typically what a family owned restaurant would look like in Japan. Very down to earth. Loved it.

I moved to Omaha from San Diego in December 2007. I found this place and have been going here ever since! I tried other sushi places but none compare. If you want authentic, delicious, decent prices, great atmosphere and awesome employees...its Sushi Japan all day every day. 9 years later and I still go once a month. Love it!

I moved here from Hawaii a few years back and I have a love for sushi. Sushi Japan has in my opinion the best quality as well as the most imaginative specialty rolls. I have been all over Omaha and Lincoln and my favorite is Sushi Japan. Try the springfield roll is you dont mind cilantro and a little heat! If you havent been GO!

Small quaint sushi restaurant, very personal service and friendly staff. I highly recommend the Beyond Rangoon roll. Its beyond delicious. Like any quality sushi restaurant, you get what you pay for so its a little pricey but completely worth it. Very upscale atmosphere and good selection of Japanese beer and sake.

This is some of the best sushi in Omaha. The venue is small and quaint, so call for a table ahead of time for busy nights. Sometimes the service is not the greatest, but this has been rare for me. Overall, they have very creative and delicious rolls, and the sashimi is very fresh and well prepared/displayed.

Im not sure what happened with the few that claim the service was bad, but every time I have been to Sushi Japan, the service has been excellent. Their sushi is fresh & delicious every time, and the selection is wonderful. Oh, and their appetizers are also delicious.

Not trendy, excellent service, and the freshest fish in town. I could eat their salmon everyday! I have tried every "sushi" spot in town they there is no comparison! Try the beyond rangoon roll for the 1st timers, it is basically crab rangoon made into a sushi roll.

Awful service! There was only one waiter for the whole restaurant and he completely ignored us once he realized I had a coupon that made gratuity included in our ticket. It took me 10 mins to get low sodium soy sauce. Good sushi, but very dissapointed with service.

Tried to complain, but the waiter never came by. Asked the hostess for a manager and she blew me off. I seriously asked for a manager 3 times before I got one, he was unapologetic and full of excuses. The food was decent but I would never come here again.

Very delicious food and a great atmosphere. It can be a little pricy, but the quality and quantity of the meal makes up for it. Excellently staffed with very friendly servers. Definitely my go-to place for Japanese cuisine.

Used to love this place. Then something happened with the chef and help. We try it once a year to see if it is better but the last time was the worst. Food was just ok but strange acting staff and odd feel was too much for us.

Sit at the bar - the sushi chefs make your dining experience very enjoyable! Traditional ambience and service are great and sushi is phenomenal for Omaha. While you are there try the Tokyo Martini!

Best sushi in Omaha. Grill side is a fun date night. The Ginger dressing is a stand out on the simple salad. Bento box at lunch is a great value and always good

Best Sushi I have ever had in Omaha, hands down. Great kitchen menu also. The whole family lives it, and often out choice for special events and birthdays.
