An amazing sushi spot with great service! Its very cozy and has a very edgy interior, which I found intriguing. The staff was super nice and polite, so no issues there. It does look like it might be a tight fit if they were busy, but they are definitely worth a wait! We had lunch special rolls which were priced right: 2 for $9.95. We had spicy crab, Philadelphia, chicken tempura, and crab mango. Both served with a salad and miso soup. Next time I will try their special rolls (which looked delicious!), but I have to say that what we did have was amazing! I highly recommend the chicken tempura roll for anyone wanting to try sushi for the first time. And the crab mango was by far our favorite! It is simple but the mango and crab compliment each other. I also had their hot tea, and that was a delicious treat that felt authentic. If you havent been here before, you must try it.

The food here is amazing, the Marilyn Monroll is one of my top 3 favorite sushi rolls ever. I cant help but order it every single time I go. Additionally, they have the absolute best ginger dressing Ive ever had. I do like to stop by and buy a small tub for home use on my salads sometimes too (luckily its so cheap). The only complaints I have about this place are these: the waiting area is inadequate (there usually isnt a wait so thats okay) and the parking lot is THE WORST. There is no good way to exit the parking lot, theres a lack of physical spots, the parking lot pavement is uneven and sketchy, and there is no clear direction of traffic. Parking lot definitely needs a slight re-design and to be re-paved. Other than that, its great!

Hot food appetizers were good and fresh but the shrimp tempura rolls were the worst Ive had in my life. The fried shrimp inside was cold and stale, tasted like it had been fried hours ago. Plus it was super-loosely wrapped and every single piece fell apart when trying to pick up or put in soy sauce. There was somewhat of a language barrier with our waitress, because when she asked how it was and we told her "tastes old, stale, and is not good" she just nodded, smiled, and walked away. Overall very disappointed in this place, because Wasabi Tao is normally excellent with friendly, fast service and delicious fresh food. I would definitely recommend you only go to that location and skip Wasabi Chi altogether.

Went here as a second choice after Lemon Grass was closed, due to a situation back in Thailand.(at least that is what the sign on the door said) So my friend and I went here. Good thing we did. This was some of the best sushi I have had here in Des Moines. And the service was very friendly. I was there on a Friday night, and even though this was their busiest times, the wait was very reasonable. The presentation was great and as previously stated, the sushi was wonderful. Definitely recommend checking this place out. Dont be afraid of going the during the peak dinner hour, they are pretty quick. And if you have to wait, it is not very long

I have been a regular here for 3+ years and I just had the worst lunch I have ever purchased at this location, I did not get ginger or wasabi with my bento box my sashimi was cut thinner than they have ever done and they even threw in the cucumber skin in my kani salad and my sushi roll everything was still flavorful but i cant believe how much went wrong. I hope they just are having an of day because i will not continue to come if this will be the way they prepare their food from now on if I would have made this review a month ago I would give them a solid 5 stars but this is a 2 because of how bad this experience was

Inexpensive but brimming with flavor and culture! You can get quite a bit of cuisine for $11. The presentation is spot on with any of the more exorbitant Japanese restaurants, nut the atmosphere is relaxed and not at all pretentious. I love all of the bento boxes, as well as the lunch entrees that I have tried so far. The sushi is first rate. Ive been a fan of sushi since 1994 and have had it in Japan, most major cities in the US, and Europe and Australia. This place is on par with the best Ive had. Defo check out the pork gyoza (dumpling). OUTSTANDING!

Expensive, but fresh, inventive and flavorful, with a great atmosphere. I go to their restaurant in Waukee. All n all Im a very picky sushi girl, spoiled by some of the best sushi in LA. Wasabi and all their other locations are the only sushi restaurants that are acceptable to me. All the others Ive been to (so far) serve sub standard fish, except for waterfront seafood (but they dont have other quality ingredients). If you can afford to spend between $60-$100 for two, go there.

I am from MN & WI. This is, hands down, the BEST sushi I have ever eaten. Love love love the Des Moines roll. The foxy lady roll was also good but not better than the Des Moines roll. The other type of food are delicious as well. The Thai lettuce wrap was absolutely amazing. The chef is amazing. If I can realistically rate it, I would re-rate this restaurant a 15 out of 5. No sushi place can beat this sushi restaurant.

Relatively quick lunch option for me. Food is good and for what I get I believe it to be reasonably priced. My favorite is the tempura bento box. It is a lot of food for the price and comes with Miso soup. Staff is always friendly and attentive. The only thing I dont like is their parking lot. Depending on what direction you are going it can be very hard to get out.

Loved the sushi here, and the atmosphere was really great. Restaurant looked and felt really nice, and the food tasted great especially for the price. Certainly less expensive than some sushi places Ive been to, and had a more fun variety. I had the Marilyn Monroll (super cute name btw) and Id totally recommend it. Also a great date spot as it isnt too crowded. :)

Tried for the first time about 10 days ago. Wife found something she really liked and she isnt a big sushi person. Food is excellent, service was wonderful. Everyone in there is really wonderful. I highly recommend. The Thai Spring Rolls are absolutely fantastic as well. Since the first visit we have been twice more. New favorite local Sushi place.

I visited this restaurant on my way to Omaha NE from Chicago IL. It was evening time around 6:30, it wasnt a long wait but as I was leaving, I saw a long line waiting. Japanese fried rice ( dont know exactly the difference between Chinese fried rice, but it has stronger soybean flavor) and Marilyn Monroll. Food was excellent, but the server seemed busy.

Ive had the sushi and a fish I forgot the name of. I would say that both were better at Waterfront seafood. But they do have good staff, a nice atmosphere; generally its comfortable. I would rather go to Waterfront, but Wasabi Chi is closer and less expensive, so if you are watching your watch or holding on tight to your wallet, its better to go here.
