A cool concept, worth trying but just above average. Would have given it 3.5 stars if possible. Those of you who follow my food reviews know that sushi is my kryptonite, I love some good sushi and sashimi. It is kind of eerie sometimes how I just get this tingle, some would call it a sixth sense, when I am out and about. Somehow, someway I just know that there is a sushi place near. I have been to sushi train numerous times and at various times of day. First off, I do love the concept of the train. This was the first city I saw this in and really loved the idea of being able to try out different types of sushi without having to buy full rolls, I could see this adapted to other "genres" of food as well. For the most part I have liked what I have tried there and will say that I do like having the choices available. So why the "above average" comment at the start of the review? Because there are times that items seem to sit before they get to hop onto the train for their ride around and for the rest of you who like sushi I think you will agree with me that one of the most important factors of freshness is just how quickly that sushi is served after it is made. That is one of the biggest draw backs of sushi at a buffet (which this is not, but I am using as a reference), it tends to sit around. I have never timed how long the sushi sits at the window waiting to go out onto the train, but I know I have gotten some that has sat at room temperature too long to really be considered nice and fresh. This doesnt happen often ming you, if it did I would be giving them a bad review and never gone back and I am not doing that. I will return to them again in the future. Customer service is generally good, a few times it has been lacking but for the most part it has been good. Facility has been clean, no complaints there. In summary, do I think they are worth trying out? Sure I do! The value is there for what you spend especially in relation to choices available. If they could get their timing a bit better, that would really put them over the top I think.

The sushi is typically good and I enjoy having the variety at a decent price. The waiters/waitresses are generally friendly, I would say the waitresses are more attentive to your needs than the waiters (the guys seems to be a little clueless/lost and unfortunately it makes the customer service experience poor). I would also suggest grabbing a menu so you can read ingredients in the rolls on the train as it is difficult to read the ingredients on the tag as the train passes, also sushi followed by a T on the menu is available upon request as a train portion (just an f.y.i) . Overall experience has been up and down lately, there are good days and there are bad/off days. Our most recent visit wasnt very great, in between lunch and dinner, hardly any of the sushi was labeled on the train so it was a guessing game on what ypu were getting (the sushi chefs were busy prepping for dinner so they werent available to ask what each roll was) the waitresses werent in yet and the guys serving our table just arent very warm and not very helpful, that and we ordered two rolls from the menu and it took 10-15 mins for one roll to show up and the other roll we thought would never come (almost 30 mins and it was slightly different than described on the menu ( not sure if we will continue visiting since it has been so hit and miss lately).Although I never considered it a top contender for best sushi in town, for the variety and price it was good, it sucks to see a place we ( my wife and I ) enjoyed fall short of expectations set by previous good times.

This place is a joke. First the server was a total stoner who you could hardly understand when speaking. We had to ask for menus, plates, and utensils. One of our party had food but two of us did not and the one time he did come to our table he asked how our meal was after we had placed our order 30-45 minutes prior only ordering a couple rolls. The restaurant was empty minus two tables. We ate about three pieces total since there were multiple rolls and people sharing and something was wrong with the food. Flagged someone down since our waiter was no were to be seen and simply asked for the food to be taken away since it was not what the menu described and tasted off. Then another person came with a menu and interrogated us as to why we didnt like it and sent it back. We told them it was not what we expected as the salmon was blended in some fashion instead of in whole pieces like other places and that the other roll was not as we were accustom either. We didnt expect to get anything free just that it was not something we wanted to eat. Needless to say we were billed for everything and got no apology except for the waiter who delivered the bill. Which its not his fault. Oh yea we are now having to take the day off from work and potentially go to the hospital for food poisoning as one of us who ate the blended salmon is sick. I have a feeling it is related to the prior review posted here. Never again thats all I know.

Im on a budget, but I love sushi. Sushi Train is great for people like me, especially when I want to go with my family. If you order off the menu, rolls are extremely cheap. Eating off the train can get pricey if youre not careful, but the pricing is easy to understand so you dont get shocked when the bill comes if you pay attention to what youre grabbing. My two year old LOVES the train, we rarely sit at the bar but always try to sit in the booths where she can easily see the train. Its great because while we do order off the menu (sometimes the sushi on the train sits out longer than Im comfortable with :x), we can grab some wontons or chicken teriyaki to tide her over while we wait for our meal. The sushi is a little warmer than I prefer, even when you order fresh rolls off the menu its always room temperature which Im not fond of but its definitely not bad, its great sushi. I love that they have an actual kids menu. The service is typically a bit slow, the waitresses dont always get around to customers right away and every time Ive been there (more times than I can count just in the last six months, obviously its not horrific by any means!), they seem to take their time getting to people. For the most part though, its a great place for a family on a budget to enjoy some good sushi. It has its flaws and I wouldnt recommend it for people without kids as there are other much better places to go.

I LOOOOOOVE Sushi Train! I hate to order an expensive roll just by the description, mostly because I am faitly new to sushi but also because I have no idea what to expect. Sure it tells you but I just never know if ther is gonna be a giant raw piece of something on top or if it will be rolled in with stuff to help disguise it. Im not a super big fan of raw stuff to begin with. I have ordered rolls at other restuarants and hated it so Ive wasted money and an entire roll. The rolls on the train are smaller for better sampling. The sushi on the train is always fresh, if you would like them to make one for you they will while you watch the cleanliness and technique. Its affordable and fast sushi. The building is run down and the staff is so-so, I have had great service and awful service but it doesnt stop me from loving their sushi and the prices. I would suggest the Sunny Pop and the Krusty Crab. They are delicious every single time, Sunny Pop doesnt have anyhting raw. The Krusty crab does have raw crab on top but mixes very well with the rest of the ingrediants and sauces. Also they have yummy stuff that non-fish, customers can eat. My mother in law had the short ribs or something of that sort and they were delicious. They also have chicken nuggets for kids. I do love the place but had to give a 4 since the service is not so great
