I called in an order for a combo plate of sesame chicken and chicken fried rice. I was told it would take 15-20 minutes. I drove 10 minutes from another zip in Columbia and when I got there, the food was not even being prepared. This was 6 pm on a Sunday evening, so they were not slammed. I decided to add an order of 10 cut chicken wings to the combo plate order. I waited an additional 20 minutes for my food, for a total of 30 minutes. Then, it cost $17.55. WTF??? Two egg rolls were included, but I do not consume pork, so that was pointless and useless. The rice was OK in taste, the wings cooked properly, but there was a large undercooked piece of dark meat chicken in the rice, just one single piece about the size of a half-dollar coin, instead of small diced pieces of chicken, which is typical of chicken fried rice. I could tell by looking at it that it was undercooked, so it went in the trash and I just ate the rice. The sesame chicken was just not cooked properly either. It wasnt crispy and it was sloppily prepared. They cooked it in goop and sprinkled a few sesame seeds on top. I know Asian cooking and I cook well, so this was very poor effort. Not to mention, before they even began cooking my food, they asked whether I wanted sesame chicken or General Tsos chicken, when I had already called 15 minutes prior and gave them my order. I waited in line 5 mins before they even knew I was there to pick up my order...it was then I realized it hadnt been cooked and the place was empty aside from 3 goofy college kids standing at the counter staring at a menu. Im going to Chinese American House or somewhere else from now on. I live off Rosewood, less than 5 mins away, but this place was a waste of time and money. Wouldnt recommend.

I dont eat meat so my review is only based upon a small sample of dishes I have tried. I live right down the street from Main Moon so the location cannot be more convenient for me. I mostly only eat the vegetable lo mein which is really good. I have tried the general tsos tofu and the vegetables with brown rice and white sauce which were both horrible. The white sauced tasted like thousand island dressing, which was not the white sauce I am used to. I have also never been charged an extra $1 for brown rice and the use of white sauce which I thought was strange. The service is fast though! I can always guarantee my order to be ready within ten minutes. Also, they know me now as a regular so they throw in a free fortune cookie (normally 10 cents). I love lo mein though, so that is what I order and they make it very well. A small is less than $6 and a large less than $9 with the price staying the same regardless the time of day. That is convenient! I have been told by other friends that the majority of their beef and chicken dishes are good so I kept a four star rating. It is all what you make of it and what you expect. I enjoy my noodles :)

On the surface, this is not exactly the most beautiful or luxurious restaurant. As of May 2016, the "Main" part of the sign is not illuminated, there is no soda fountain (drinks are in bottles or cans and unrefrigerated), there is a $0.30 extra charge for bills less than $10 and now they will be closed on Tuesdays. But make no mistake about it, this is the BEST Chinese takeout restaurant in Columbia, SC. Plates are about $8-9 and absolutely delicious. Sesame chicken, chicken with broccoli, and the rice are all things Ive tried and I love them all. This is a "hidden in plain sight" gem in Cola. A must try as a local. Dont let its *ahem* lackluster appearance turn you away. Love it!

Ive eaten at many of Columbias chinese restaurants and this one is THE BEST. The others seem to have old food, especially teapot- The prices at Main Moon are good and the food is fresh. I saw the cook in the back chopping up fresh veggies to put in the food, my dinner was hot and delicious...too bad they dont delivery. Fortunately its only a minute away from my house so I can pick up in no time. The store inside is just a typical strip mall chinese restaurant, nothing special. They are open until 10:30 on sundays!

Great food great service great location...I was dying need to cure my urge for Chinese food but didnt know exactly where to go so I googled Chinese restaurants and seen their ratings were great so I called for a pickup....when I got there they were so nice, it wasnt expensive at all for what I got and I was given plenty of food....I will definitely eat here for my Chinese food....it reminds me of my fav restaurant back home....a little home outside of home...loving it.

This Chinese restaurant was the 2nd Chinese restaurant Ive ever eaten at in Columbia and the food is just good enough. I frequent here and the food never gets any better. My favorite is the Crab Rangoon/Wonton. My least favorite is just about everything else. Their wings are always undercooked and rice is usually mushy. I gave it a 3 only because its just good enough for me to return to on lunch breaks. Quick and Close.

My experience at main moon is the best you could possible imagine. Their food is top notch, as is their service. A very nice Asian lady took my order and it was ready pretty quickly. I always have terrible diarrhea after eating here, but the quality of food is worth it and diarrhea isnt that bad if your trying to do a full body cleanse or something

Bad customer service. I was told that it was an authentic Chinese restaurant, but its far from that. I asked for water and it was declined. I order a dish and I wasnt please with the flavor. I wont come back to this place again.

I love Main Moon. Its fast, cheap and yummy. No, its not the BEST Chinese Ive ever had but their sweet and sour chicken and their hot and sour soup are fantastic. It is good late night drinking food!

This was my favorite restaurant in Columbia when I went to school at USC. Its definitely no frills but they made the best General Tsos tofu Ive ever eaten.

Fast service! Clean. Food was hot and good. If you are from up north, it doesnt compare. But overall this place was great.

Not impressed. Wife was unable to eat her general two chicken. Flavorless and fatty. Will not be going back anytime soon.

They have brown rice and the food isnt as greasy as other places I have been too. Best spot I have found so far.
