Ideal restaurant for family of varied tastes - we had a blast trying new dishes and found familiar flavors that left EVERYBODY happy!! Starting with Diver scallops - buttery, smooth, and a perfecting beginning to a long night of eating! We also had the Bacon Jalapeno Rangoon, Crab Rangoon, and multiple plates of Ika (calamari - expertly cooked) Tempura - each was cooked to perfection. Then we dove into the "88s Favorite Rolls" menu - the Black Pearl, Hiro 88 Roll, and Spicy 2 in 1 Roll - these were INCREDIBLE - each levied a complex yet complimentary balance of flavors - SO GOOD! Then we tried the "Classics": Califormia, Negi Hamachi, Rainbow, Spicy Hamachi, Spicy Tuna, and Tsunami Rolls - these proved to be among the best weve had in town or anywhere near Omaha. For our non-sushi diners we ordered Beef Broccoli, Yaki Soba, and Uangi -- each made smiles and full bellies...a LOT food. Prices were extremely fair, considering the freshness, variety, and upscale atmosphere Hiro 88 provided our group of five. OUTSTANDING service and super fast preparation on a weekend evening - zero errors and 1st class personal touches - from the second we arrived to the moment we left - felt like VIPs! Looking forward to next visit -- we are trying some others first - but this is a must return no matter what!!

On a quest I was, looking for a place to fill my tum tum after a long days work. After having a couple drinks I decided to venture out on foot to see what succulent cuisine awaited me. I searched "food near me" into Google as I was too drunk to think of a great place and it laid out in front of me many options. I checked them, one by one, near and far. It was all for naught as every eatery had shut down for the night, but I was determined! Just then, out of the corner of my eye I spyed a red pixel out of the millions on my 5.6 inch phone representing a waypoint; my prize of satiated hunger was within reach. A sushi place, "Hiro 88", was suggested. I marched forward into the unknown not fully knowing what my fate held. After a long and arduous 3 min journey I arrived at the oriental palace. A magical tree of lights marked the gate to this castle. I entered slowly and made my way down a long hallway towards two women, who I assume were royalty, and presented my story, "I do not possess clothing which has sleeves. May I enter your establishment?" They replied yes most graciously. Phones dying, cant finish story. Food was good though and happy rules!

I went to Hiro 88 tonight after it being recommended by a friend. I could almost call this friend my best friend now. What an amazing dinner I had. I had been craving some great sashimi since arriving in the Omaha area, and I found it tonight, finally. Our dinner started out with the Spicy Yellowtail, and I knew everything was going to go great from there because the jalapeno was crispy. A crispy, fresh jalapeno is what can make or break a dish like that. I ordered the small sashimi combo and had a long-term craving finally fulfilled. My wife ordered the adventurous bento box and the chef made her night. She also discovered her new favorite drink, "Make It Rain." I enjoyed the Rouge Marimoto Soba Ale which was also delicious. I would like to thank the GM Charlie for making sure that tonight went great. It was also great to sit next to Dale and Anne for dinner and find out that they are long time fans of Hiro 88. I look forward to my next dinner there!

Smallest pieces of sashimi I have ever had were served to me here. To put in perspective one order is 3 pieces and they were much smaller in size than my pinky. I have been to this location previously and the pieces were what i would consider a normal size. I call the manager and he says it could be the cut or the sushi chef etc. I could possibly see if it was one type of fish as being the cut buy i had a few different types and they were all very small. Anyway he basically says too bad at which point I say take all four orders away then and off the bill. The sushi is fresh which is a big plus but not worth the price if they are going to get skimpy and cheap with the product.

I enjoy going to Hiro. Food us good but staff is hit and miss. They give you tiny water glasses and a carafe of water to refill your own glasses, but they are really, really slow to get you a new carafe. We had a table of 4, and one carafe for the 1.5 hrs we were there. We asked several times for a refill and the waiter just kept forgetting. When he brought us the check we asked again and we got one. Promptly everyone at the table filled their glasses. Well, almost everyone. The carafe only fills about 3.25 of the tiny glasses. The desserts are delicious though.

Went with some friends and family and the food is alright. The Sushi rolls are way too big. There Calamari is disgusting right along with the sauce they serve. They put a raindrop of sauce on your salad. The only delicious thing was there chicken fried rice!!! Our waiter was so concerned about the bigger party she had in her section (about 10 people) she visited our table all of two times. Didnt get any refills or anything. Terrible service. Ill never go again! Weve let everyone we know about our experience here & they arent going to risk going either.

When I arrived in Omaha today, I took a look at places to eat in an app, and Hiro 88s menu caught my eye immediately. Bacon jalapeno rangoons. Other dishes cooked with jalapenos. Avocado egg rolls. First thought was "these guys are a little nuts...!" They are. And theyre amazing! This is the best Japanese food Ive had in years and part of it is that they put a unique spin on most of the dishes and even the normal ones are done just a little better than anything else Ive had recently. Oh, and the staff kicks ass too!

Whatever you do beware of ordering to go dishes. Ordered myself some lettuce wraps, which Ive had plenty of times eating in at the restaurant, only to get home and find myself with the saddest, most disappointing, awful excuse for food. The lettuce was witty and gross plus there was about 3 tiny pieces of it that I couldnt even use to put the filling in bc they were so small. The chicken was low volume and did not include any of the usual sauces. Sad sad excuse. Go to Blue around the corner, much better.

Of the 4 Sushi spots in the Old Market, this is my third favorite. Chic, modern atmosphere with as much noise and crowd as you like, especially on weekends. Good place to bring a social group for sushi. The big draw for me was a nice, full service bar. The patio will probably be pretty nice in the spring--I dont think any of the other spots have outdoor seating available. For atmosphere I like Blue only a little better. For sushi quality (fish, rice, and price) I prefer Matsu.

Went here last week for a bachelorette party. The sushi and small plates were good. We got the BLT and Philly rolls, pork buns small plate and chicken satay small plate. I didnt care for the BLT roll but my friend loved it. Despite the crowd, we were seated at our reserved time and served in a timely manner. I got a mojito and it was incredibly sweet! Way too sweet. Others in my group commented that their drinks were way too sweet as well.
