Our family loves Japanese restaurants and we have frequented Genji steakhouse on 144th & Center many times. My wifes mother was in town last weekend and we decided to take our 4 month old daughter and 3 year old son out to eat for a special night. After a wonderful evening, we mistakenly left our stroller at the restaurant. Exactly one week later, we could not find the stroller and realized we had accidentally left it at Genji. After placing a call to the restaurant, they could not tell me if they had found our stroller and seemed "put off" that I was even asking them to search their lost and found. When they had not called us back as promised, my wife called and was told that they threw our $200 stroller in the dumpster. After I picked it up, it smelled like vomit and I had to have it professionally cleaned. I realize that we were the ones that left it there accidentally, but they had our phone number from the reservation and we were the only people there that night with a stroller. There are three reasons that I am irate and will never go back. 1. Why didnt they call us? 2. Why would they have placed the stroller in the dumpster after 7 days? 3. Why did they feel it necessary to treat us poorly when we called and not have the decency to even call us back? Please do not go to Genji. They obviously do not care anything about their customers. I, for one, will no longer be one.

First time at this place. Was a 15 minute wait so decided to have a couple of drinks at the bar. Malakai was just starting out as the bartender and was absolutely phenomenal. Fast, great recommendations, and very personable. The server was great also and Tyler (the chef) was flawless. I really enjoyed my experience at Genji and from the quality and amount of food to the excellent service I will most definitely be stopping there again. Being a music photographer, I visit many restaurants across the country. Genji in Omaha, after one visit, has now become one of my favorites.

Took my son and his friends to Genji for his 13th birthday. The kids had a blast! Our chef was very funny, and smooth with the spatula. However, our drink server bumped the table and accidently turned up the heat on the grill, causing our food to be a little over cooked. We had a good time and were glad we had a large party so we didnt have to sit with strangers (that would be the introvert in me talking). Overall, the food is decent, a little pricey, but a good place to go for special occasions and older kids birthdays.

Love this spot! Happy hour specials are amazing from 4-6 Mon-Fri. Appetizers, Sushi, Genji cocktails, and beer are really cheap. My friend and I came in without a reservation, which I recommend making. They were busy but Jeremy squeezed us in. He always takes great care of myself and my party. Liz was an outstanding server. Also our chef Tyler was professional yet hilarious. If you havent been you dont know what your missing.

I always enjoy the food and the atmosphere, but Im starting to question how much they want the business. Theyve switched to an automated answering machine even during business hours and havent returned the calls Ive made to set up a reservation. Its possible they are booked when we want the reservation, but if thats the case they should still call back to tell us so we can make other plans.

I just had to go to the bar to get refills on our sodas, then not only did the server bring us the wrong bill once, but twice. I spoke with the manager. He told me he would be right over. My dad went over and spoke to the manager about 10 minutes later. He STILL hasnt come to the table. Weve now been here two hours. Never have I had this bad of an experience at any restaurant.

We love to come here as a family or even just as a couple. The food is always amazing. The best friend rice I have ever had. The experience is always a little bit different. It is a little pricey but you get a lot of food. I do not recommend it for child that do not sit still for long amounts of time. I also recommend making reservations, as they are always busy.

Genji is where we go for special occasions, our family just loves it. Especially my little sister, she could eat a gallon of the "yum yum sauce". The appeal for kids and adults here is strong. The chefs are so fun to watch and listen to. The tofu meal is delicious and the salads dressings are so good! Make sure to make a reservation to be safe though!

Why make reservations if your not only going to be an hour late seating us... but not have enough seats for our reservation. We were ignored and passed over for seating....and we had a reservation.. unacceptable. This was my first and last time ever coming here. I will not suggest this place and their horrible customer service to anyone.

I took my kids last week for "kids eat free night" and it was excellent. My children are picky eaters and the chef did a fabulous job getting them to try everything. Steak, chicken, shrimp even onions, they tried and ate it all. The food was great and the enviroment was over the top. We will be back!

Very well put together place. Reservations went smooth. They kept our drinks from bottoming out. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were spot on. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Hats off to our chef...Doug I think his name was. Very professional and entertaining.

Always enjoy eating here. The food has always been great! The service has been above fair. Although when calling it can be aggravating, they have terrible communication skills. I have stopped trying to make calls to them , now Im just walk in. I avoid the aggravation from the phone by that.

Go here! The food was great, service was amazing, you need to make a reservation, and this place can get busy. They do birthday parties and since this place had great food people like to visit. Like I said before you should visit here if you get the opportunity. I had a great time here.

We took my granddaughter to Genjis for her birthday and it was absolutely the most entertaining dining out Ive ever experienced.. The chef was very funny and the food was served in a very timely manner and was delicious. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Food was OK, there wasnt anything special about the taste and portions were small for a Shogun restaurant. The chef was also very boring and during the iconic shrimp toss only gave everyone one chance to catch it and even threw it at the guests that didnt want any.

I had an amazing time food was fantastic. My friend I went with had a bad shell fish allergy, we told the waitress but she didnt pass it on to the chef, so it was hard for her to feel safe eating her food. Other than that great experience for the non allergy folk.

Overall a good Japanese Steakhouse with just a few complaints. They use garlic butter which is nice and adds a nice touch to the rice. Unfortunately they use it on everything and it becomes a bit overwhelming. Also, their mixed drinks were mediocre at best.
