This place was voted best Japanese Restaurant in Omaha and I wholeheartedly agree. The atmosphere is nice, and I really like the floor tables they have in the corner. What pleased me the most about this place is the food. Ive been to Japanese restaurants all over the country, and they all have the same teriyaki items and sushi menu. They taste the same, and not too great for that matter. The menu here is fresh, and of course delicious. I didnt talk to any of the staff about it, but I get the impression that the chefs put time into experimenting with different ingredients and have come up with some impressive dishes. The service was top notch. Our server was a guy named Il Suk (sounds like a Korean Name), and Id request him if you can. What really impressed me was the owner came out to chat with us for a bit. We came at the tail-end of lunch so he probably wasnt as busy as normal, but I was still flattered. Bottom line, Ive been to dozens of Japanese restaurants all over the country (the side effects of having a Japanese dad). This place takes the cake as my favorite.

Ive been eating here since it was under the Sushi Ichiban name at 84th & Dodge. This restaurant has some of the best Sushi Ive eaten, including highly rated Sushi restaurants in New York and other places Ive lived with better access to fresh fish (San Francisco/Bay Area and Seattle). The nigiri is the perfect size with amazingly fresh fish and perfectly cooked rice. The rolls are excellent. Ive seen reviews that complain about the sushi/rolls being "bland". Whats the point of using fresh, high quality fish and ingredients if youre going to cover it up with spices and Americanized sauces? Use the soy sauce provided, thats what its for. The bento boxes are always a great stand by if youre wanting something cooked. The salads and soups are some of the best Ive eaten. On top of the great food the service is always impeccable. If you want overpriced, non-traditional, mediocre sushi go to Blue Sushi, or any other place in Omaha for that matter. If you want quality and wonderful service, go to Sakura Bana.

TLDR: Food seems like Americanized Japanese food. Their shrimp tempura was a normal size 1 inch shrimp that was macerated and extended to mimic a jumbo shrimp. Even with that it still left a 3/4 inch portion of breading only at the tip, between my wife and I we got 6 pieces exactly like that. The bonito broth was too salty without enough mirin. Many rolls on their menu use cooked low quality fish as the main ingredient. With all that their food was decently prepared in a timely manner. Their restaurant itself is small, with the booths being barely large enough for adults because of the table protruding into your stomach while seated. My final thought is that this place has potentially made these decisions to make its food cheaper for the nearby UNO students, however I would not consider its food to be traditional.

Sushi was really good. The restaurant was actually very busy, Saturday night at 730p. It was not clean though. The table we got was enclosed, had to take our shoes off to get in but there was rice everywhere and the table was sticky. We waited for 25mins before someone finally came to take our order. It took another 20 or so minutes to get our foodand then we were forgotten. I had to ask for our check and I asked for a box, by this time there were 2 other patrons. The waiter brought our check and placed it on the bench and I asked for a box again. He walked away and left us waiting for about 7 mins. I had to walk up front to the hostess and ask her for a box only to see our waiter restocking the fridge. I was not impressed and think we paid too much for this service and I know we wont ever go back.

1) Unreasonable wait time: We were seated right away but no server showed up to even introduce themselves for almost 15 minutes. We ultimately waited about an hour and a half to be served our meal. 2) Mediocre food: This is being generous. We ordered 4 rolls. 3 were edible. The volcano roll was basically rice and scallops with mayo poured (yes poured, like half a jar) on top. 3) TERRIBLE SERVICE: Server took approx 15 min to greet the table, forgot to bring out an appetizer we ordered and never once checked in on the table while we were waiting the unreasonable amount of time for our food. When we expressed our dissatisfaction we were comped the appetizer we had to remind her we even ordered and offered a free dessert. The manager made ZERO attempt to resolve the issue. Dine at your own risk.

Nice variety of dishes. Clean, nice staff, food is pretty authentic, good and with a nice presentation. It is a small restaurant and usually quite busy so wait times are a bit long but usually worth it. There are good options for people who cannot or dont want to eat sea food, but sushi is their specialty and is definitely good. Often has specials and a happy hour that is worth taking advantage of. Offers innovative desserts and Japanese candy.

Well, I ordered my sushi over an hour ago and Im still waiting for it currently. They have literally brought two canoes worth of sushi out to another party and havent bothered to even attempt to take care of us in any way. I am severely disappointed in the service here after seeing the all the positive reviews which is what brought me here in the first place. Definitely will be trying to find a different spot for sushi after this.

I was quite skeptical when we sat down and I took in the atmosphere. I was expecting something a little nicer, and the menu was a bit overwhelming and poorly organized. However, the food more than made up for it. The Beef Yakisoba was delicious and savory, and the 3 sushi rolls we split were phenomenal. The Volcano roll is a must! Went back the following week with some other friends, we enjoyed it so much.

Real Japanese Sushi Chefs, not Chinese or Thai chefs or any other Asian country. Food is good for price. Waiters and waitresses are great and really try to make your experience relaxing and enjoyable. Also a very family friendly atmosphere, not like a bar or night club sushi restaurant. Good for family weekend dinner, work lunch or dinner date.

Dont be deceived by being listed as one of the "Best of Omaha" restaurants. The sushi rolls tasted TERRIBLE! I would give it no stars if i can. The sushi rolls were so bland, and the rice tasted like it was days old. All the rolls were very plain and are comparable to rolls served at chinese buffets. I will never return to this place again.

Great Sushi! Not super expensive and if you go during happy hour you save some money with their deals. They get good quality food and do a great job preparing it. The staff is always friendly and usually service is above average. This is the number 1 place in Omaha for sushi in my opinion.

This is a very authentic Japanese restaurant, exelent atmosphere and service. The sushi is fresh, well crafted and good taste. Hot tea is as good as the original from Japan. I work for a Japane company and being in Japan, so I know when is authentic.
