YUCK!!! I am a person who normally can find the good in every situation. However, this time, I couldnt. Tonight, my boyfriend and I came to Bo Lings for our 1 year anniversary. I had never been before and was really excited to try it! It started off great, the waiter was kind and brought our waters quickly. As I was sitting there taking a drink of my water, I felt something pinch my ankle. I was wearing converse and thought maybe the tag was scratching me. I looked down to adjust the tag, to be pinched again and watched a BEETLE crawl across the rest of my foot. This beetle was probably the size of a silver dollar. I looked under the table and noticed a hole in the wall about the size of a coke bottle. So Im assuming thats where it came from. It crawled from under our table to the center aisle where our waiter picked it up quickly with a napkin and kept walking past as if it was a regular occurrence. He came back and said "Did it get you?" I was in shock. I responded with "Yeah, twice on my ankle" while I was rubbing it. Then he said "I got him pretty fast!" That was the end of that conversation. We had already ordered our meals or else we would have walked out. Our meals came and we ate them, paid our $35 bill and left, promising each other wed never go eat there again. I called my mom to tell her what happened and she said I needed to call them immediately due to the fact that its a health hazard. I called, was put on hold without being asked, and then a lady named Rebecca (the manager) answered. I explained the situation to her and she asked us to come back and talk about what happened, we had just left so it wasnt a big inconvenience. She offered us a gift card to be ready when we got there. After we hung up, my boyfriend decided that he would rather just have a refund than a gift card we will never feel comfortable using. We arrived back at Bo Lings and talked with Rebecca, and our waiter, both apologizing. We said we understood but theres no way we would have the desire to come back after this experience, and that we would just prefer a refund. She said she "cant do refunds". That we can have the gift card instead. I told her that I dont plan on coming back. She was telling me I had "nothing to worry about", that "nothing like this had ever happened", "I would hate for something like this to hurt our reputation", "the health inspector ate lunch here today." (Lets be thankful that the health inspector didnt come for dinner) My boyfriend, wanting this awfully uncomfortable situation to be over with accepted the gift card. We walked outside opened the gift card to see it was worth $20. A $20 gift card to place that serves their dishes with a side of beetle? No thanks. It felt like it was "Heres a gift card so you dont tell people about what happened, and youll still have to spend more money here!" We walked back in, laid the gift card down at the desk and wont be returning. I am incredibly grossed out and couldnt fathom recommending this place to anyone.

I have procrastinated writing this, but I want people to know about my experience here on my birthday. I brought my little brother, my boyfriend, my two best friends, and my boyfriends parents. It took us 15 minutes of sitting before our water came. First, our waitress came to the table and looked at my dear friend, who is a beautiful black woman and was wearing dark lipstick and a lovely purple dress. She said to our table "I thought Halloween was over." We all looked at each other, confused. She repeated herself, "I thought Halloween was over." Do we look odd, we finally asked. And I realized that she was zoning in on my friend. She then commented on her dark lipstick, which complimented her skin, but apparently made our waitress feel that it was funny. She then went to get our appetizers, and they came STILL before we got any water. Finally I went to the host and begged for water because we were so thirsty, we were cracking jokes about drinking from the bathroom sink. The waitress never acknowledged or apologized for not bringing water. She then continued to talk to my friend in a condescending tone, treating her terribly as she ordered, repeating what she said like she was a child. It was making us all so uncomfortable. She brought her a very odd dish, and when my friend questioned it, she said she would have to charge her to change it. I was angry and asked for the manager, who said the waitress was just new to American culture and she defended her inappropriate behavior with our table. She offered my friend a different dish, at which point we said "that IS what she ordered in the first place." So she had intentionally brought my friend the wrong food. The manager still charged her for the food and then had the audacity to add gratuity to our bill, when the woman who waited on us gave the worst service in the history of waitressing. She also kept harassing my friend after reporting to the manager, apologizing but then asking questions and just driving her crazy. The manager should have removed this woman from caring for our party long before this. What a terrible birthday dinner. They had some dishes I really enjoyed but I will NEVER go back. A terrible discriminatory waitress topped with a manager who barely bothered to fix the situation. Ive had better service in fast food!

I went to this Bo Ling location yesterday for my father-in-laws birthday. It was a total disaster. Here is the list of items that made this evening so horrible. We waited almost 20 mins till anybody even came over to greet us after being seated. We waited another 20 mins after ordering our drinks to be seen again, we were all ready to order we ordered our appetizers along with our meal. Because of this, our appetizers came out the same time of our meal - why this was thought to be a good idea I have no idea! One of the meals we ordered didnt come out for another 10-15 mins after the rest of us got our meals. We were never checked on again by our server. NEVER AGAIN in the whole rest of our experience I had food dropped down my back by one of the servers at the end. I found a piece of hair in my food My sister-in-law found an egg shell. We went to complain to management about everything we had experienced and nothing was done. NOTHING. We got a quick sorry, and a "birthday cupcake on the house" - as we left we saw another table receiving a "birthday cupcake on the house." Usually my fiance and I go to the RiverMarket location because we have heard from others about horrible experiences with the Plaza location. I think we will stick to that plan. Just a horrible horrible way to celebrate a birthday! I wouldnt suggest this group of employees/location!

While the server was excellent and extremely helpful the food as not even mediocre at best. First they have a dozen various teas from Asia on the menu and when I asked what kind of iced tea they served I was told Lipton! I thought she was joking but she was serious, she said it was very good. So the Asian restaurant doesn’t even serve iced tea made from the dozen hot teas they serve. Ok, strange, but I guess they don’t have a Chef capable of making iced tea…. SO…. I order shrimp Pad Tai. And I get it, and I asked for extra peanuts and I received them as well, they even charge extra for them, peanuts are SO expensive…. And the five shrimp that were in it were good size, and they were cooked into the sauce and noodles with the tails on…. Real tasty… umm… pad tie with simmered shrimp tails in it because the cook ( Yes anyone that does that does not deserve to be called a chef ) was too lazy to cut off five shrimp tails. Obviously that place can be summed up in two words , TOURIST TRAP ! I would rather have something shaken out of a frozen bag than dine there again.
