My cousin took my mom, my other cousin and myself here a couple of weekends back for dinner and this place is A++bomb-diggity!! First thing you want to do before coming is make room in your refrigerator...you will return home with leftovers...possibly a lot. Second, BRING YOUR APPETITE! The food is delish and you get generous portions...every pound you gain will be worth it. Third, I wish I could remember our waitress name cause she was superlative and an Einstein with the menu (cute blondish gal in her 30s...sweet as pie). Lastly, as much I can rave about the sandwiches (super tasty) and how hard it would be for even a crocodile to bite into one of them, they aint got nothing on the desserts. If you order a piece of cake, ask them to make it the size of a Volkswagen Beetle, that way youll at least be able to finish it by sundown on the third day! NO JOKE! Folks, take the extra time to fight the traffic, hunt for a parking space, or whatever else you gotta do to come fill your hollow leg here because it is worth it, you have my word!

IF I COULD GIVE THIS -.8645 STARS I WOULD! Once me and my friends walked in the door they just stared at us, it was extremely creepy and they wouldnt stop, even if we stared back at them. Weirdos -_-. Anyway me and my one friend had some pre packed sammiches yo and they was like " uhm u cant eat that here" (which i understand) and we was like "but our friends are getting food let us stay" and they was like "not unless you order something" and so i asked for water and they said "no", so we left (me and the sammich friend) and went down the street to Starbucks, a fine establishment, where we enjoyed or lunch in peace. Afterwards, my other friends came back and told us that even after we were gone they continued to stare at them and they said they made them feel extremely uncomfortable, oh and also the food was bad and the sandwiches are dry. Just go to Starbucks.

first stop in Philly for me and my girlfriend from Europe, were advised to take any seat, sat by the window in the corner to get a good street view. The table wasnt cleared off but we didnt mind it being done while we waited. The server came over and told us she thought we were very rude to sit here and she had to clean it as it wasnt her table (having been advised by the same server to sit anywhere) so we got up and left- pretty miffed I didnt speak up to the manager but we were hungry, angry and couldnt be bothered. We certainly didnt want to be parting with our money if we were being perceived as rude because we are not. PS. America in general has been nothing but kind to us for the last three months! Ate at the hungry Pigeon- Brilliant 5*****

Went in, had a great meal, decided to go back and order some sweets from the deli to take home. The girl at the counter ignored me after I gave her my order, then went to wait on someone else. When I asked her five minutes later if she was getting my order, she paused took a sigh then replied yes. She stood there and look at me for another two minutes, then finally grabbed a bag to get my order. She was so rude I finally told her to forget about it. When I went to complain to the owner, he started yelling at us that we were trying to cause trouble. He would not apologize for the bad service and we finally asked for a refund. Horrible service, never been treated so bad in a restaurant, let alone one that charges $18 for a sandwich.

I havent even finished my sandwich yet, and Im already writing my review. Theres two reasons why: 1) Its so frickin delicious I had to tell you about it ASAP. 2) Its so big (triple decker!) that I could only eat 1/2 of it before calling it quits. With three kids of meet, 3 slices of rye and Russian dressing, this thing could seriously feed a small country. AND you get a pickle and your choice of a side! Be still my heart (it probably will). Thats probably why a sandwich wont cost you less than $20. I ordered a black and white cookie too, because they were the size of my face. Ill update this review when Im no longer full from the sandwich; give me about a week or two).

they should have a couple of people preparing the fish, had to wait till all the table orders were done which took about half hour, then the girl got my order wrong didnt give me the right smoke fish which she should have asked what kind also she forgot my rye until i told her. had to take public transportation home which the buses were detored and then had to go back and get the right fish because it was a a surprise for someone. i have been going their for a while wouldnt you think they would get the fish right after spending over a 120.00 to 150.00 a pop. please check your orders .

This is my favorite place to eat in the City of Philadelphia. Best pastrami sandwich on the planet. That sandwich is half the reason I moved to Philly. I often joke with friends that if a guy proposed to me with a pastrami sandwich from 4th Street instead of a diamond ring, Id probably say yes! Im only half kidding. Go there and see for yourself! Split the sandwich though- its huge! I once split 1 sandwich and 1 piece of cake between 4 people... and we still had leftovers! I speak for their location at 4th and Bainbridge as Ive never been to the Center City location. Enjoy!

5 stars for the experience. Heres why: 1) Its in a fun part of town and has an old, inviting deli feel to it. 2) The food is amazing. We ordered the pastrami sandwich (the best you may ever have), corn beef hash and chicken cutlet sandwich. The portions were HUGE so only order one dish for two of you. 3) They did a great job of surprise and delight. Once we sat down, they brought out pickles and vinegar based slaw. Both were amazing! Then with your check, they give you a small warm chocolate chip cookie. Amazing. If youre in Philly, add this to your list!

Late lunch for 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Very friendly staff, accommodating, and big, big portions. If you go, split your order with someone. The sandwiches are at least 4-5 inches thick. I had the most delicious Corn Beef Ruben ($24) but could only eat 1/2 the sandwich. Prices are high but portions serve 2 people. A staple that is served at no charge is big bowl of cole slaw and another of sweet & Jewish pickles. They are delicious. I did not try the Matzo ball soup but everyone was ordering it so Im sure its delicious.
