My wife Tara and I were married at the North House last month and cannot recommend it highly enough! Born and raised in CT, my wife and I have been to over a dozen weddings in the area and did extensive research on comparable venues. Compared to nearby options, the North House had by far the best location, flexibility, customer service, food quality, and overall value. We first looked at the venue a couple years ago when it was Belle Terrace. We loved the location, on-site ceremony option, and proximity to Avon Old Farms hotel for our guests, but had some initial concerns about management, catering, and service. These concerns were alleviated immediately during our second visit when we learned the Chabot family (Farmington Gardens owners) had purchased the property and taken over management. We met directly with co-owner Nick to discuss the space and choose a package that worked with our budget. Nick and his staff went out of their way to address our concerns, customize the menu, make exceptions to our package, recommend vendors, accommodate a rehearsal, decorate the space, and help us with all planning aspects for our big day. The family-run feel was pervasive before and after we signed our contract – a feature of the North House that stood out from the other venues we considered, which felt more like rigid wedding factories. We worked with coordinators Saleesa and Tori who were honestly as valuable as wedding planners. They met with us on weekends, took countless phone calls, kept us on task, collaborated with our vendors, stayed late the night of our rehearsal, and made sure we were calm and fed on our big day! After the reception, we invited guests for cocktails and late night snacks at the North House’s classy new restaurant, which was a quick walk from the ballroom. It was a great way to end the night and definitely a better option than the crowded hotel bar across the street. After our big day, guests raved about the food, drinks, servers, staff, venue, and overall experience. We cannot thank the North House and their staff enough for an absolutely perfect wedding day!

My girlfriend took me to The North House for my birthday. We had never been before and couldnt have been happier with our decision. While looking over the menu a manger came and introduced himself. Moment later he returned with a complimentary appetizer to welcome us for our first time to the north house. It wasnt much but was a very nice gesture. We ordered a tuna carpaccio appetizer which was delicious. My girlfriend had a blackberry salad as her entree, which was one of the night specials, she loved ever bit of it. I had a beautifully cooked pork chop with baked beans aged cheddar and apples and escarole. I loved all of it but the escarole because it was just to bitter for me but I think thats just my preference. For dessert we had the Peanut Butter Creameux and Carrot Cake. The were both good sized desserts and both great but we fought over the Peanut Butter one. That was just the food. Our waitress was phenomenal. Probably one of the nicest dining experiences I have ever had. I wish I could remember her name just so I could call back and have it know how welcome she made us feel.

Well, I guess it just must be us, but we did not care for our lunch at North House at all! We had gone there a while ago, once or twice and found the food selections to be odd. So today, they had a limited selection for lunch; they were out of the lobster salad that I wanted. The waitress did not seem knowledgeable about explaining items on the menu, if you had questions. So we both ordered the turkey sandwich; my turkey was fairly dried out & over cooked and difficult to chew. Both sandwiches came with a large order of so-so fries. They should have offered us an option of a small side salad or something; most diners are on a restricted diet of some sort these days. So they brought me a chicken caesar wrap, but I did not like that any better. We will not be going back there anytime soon! (Even though we live near by)! Also, it was pricey for what you got. $7.00 for two cups of tea...

We went to the North House last night for happy hour. When we walked in, there was no place to sit. The pub was packed. As we were about to leave, the manager asked us if we would like to sit in another area which was not as crowded but we could still order from the happy hour menu. So we decided to stay. The oysters were delicious and you cant beat the happy hour prices. We also stayed for dinner and we were very pleased with our food selections. The next day, I realized that i was missing my wallet. I called the North House and they told me they found my wallet. When I picked it up a few hours later, Nothing was missing from my wallet. Kudos to the honest staff and for the great service!! We will definitely return to the North House:)

Great experience in celebration of our 33rd wedding anniversary. Actually held our wedding reception here so we were happy to see North House was open so we could celebrate. Our server, Beth, did a nice job of helping us celebrate. I had the duck breast, served with enticing lemon jam that paired beautifully with medium rare entree. My wife enjoyed the grilled double cut pork chop, Both entrees went well with the 12 Duckhorn Parraduxx red wine. A cozy table back in the original Avon Old Farms property was perfect. A terrific experience!!

We live in NYC and are New Hartford weekenders. Almost every weekend we are in CT you are going to find us at The North House, near the fireplace. Great food, amazing people ( everyone is great but Beth is our favorite) and incredible prices (at least compared to what we pay for the same thing in NYC) . We love the bar area, cozy and bright at the same time, and we certainly love their cocktails. Margarita anyone?

The food was really good food, menu, and service. The highlights were the French onion soup and so was the calimari to start. The beef wellington was cooked perfectly. The duck meat was high quality but didnt love what it came with. The carrot cake was amazing.

The North House is my favorite restaurant in the area. The owners did a wonderful job renovating the property without taking away the historic character. Their food and service are incredible and you cant beat half off of ALL wines on Thursdays!

We were here for a group dinner and even with 40 meals being served at the same time the food was excellent! Very friendly and good service and a beautiful, historic setting. Many different dining areas with completely different decor/setting.
