I have enjoyed many restaurants in KC metro area. This was not my first time, to the Capital, but will be the last time. The Waiter was horrible. I decided to try Capital out again, because of the Restaurant Week promotion. I waited 20min for a table, when with a reservation at 7pm. The server was slow to come to the table, presented menus. I asked if the Restaurant week menu was on here, his response was "NO" and walked away. Ten Minute later, he returned with the menu, handed it out, and walked away. When he returned, I pointed out, it was the lunch menu, and was looking for the dinner menu, he looked confused and irradiated, and walked away. Later he return, with the Dinner menu, and left all the other menus on the table. He hardly smiled, and looked inconvenienced to be a server for our table. After we finished our salads, he asked me 2x if I was finished with my salad, and I yes I was, and he walked away. When the food arrived, I asked the serving staff if they would please remove the salad plates, dishes were piling up. NEVER offered to refill beverages! NO TABLE maintenance at all! When desserts were brought to the table, had to ask to remove the piling set of dishes once again. Table full of crumbs, and ZERO effort to keep the table neat and clean. There were several people at the table, and server didnt inquire if separate checks or all on one check. The food was good, nothing special compared to the restaurants in the city. When you factor in the poor service, really this restaurant is extremely over priced. There are so many restaurants on the plaza for less money, get same quality food, but far superior service!

Make sure to make a reservation, I much rather have an intimate meal than try to find an spot in the busy bar area. To start, the service is amazing. The servers really know the menus and aim to please. Our servers name was Bob and definitely ask for him if you can! It was busy when my boyfriend and I went because it was restaurant week. I only tried the pineapple cockstail and its very refreshing and its worth the try. As for the food; excellent steak, mashed potatoes were lumpy, green beans were undercooked, one of the types of breads was a little burnt. The espresso cake was delicious but unfortunately they ran out of crème brûlée, which was supposed to come with the meal too but they did replace it with some yummy fresh berries and cream. Despite what was a less than perfect meal, I think maybe my luck was bad because of the busy night. I definitely intend on going back and would recommend it.

This place is on a steady decline. Our server was great and she tried very hard but she was the only highlight of the evening. We were packed in tight and it was very loud. We had to wait over 45 minutes and we had a reservation, and no one checked on us, we had to remind them we were waiting, and this was on a weeknight! The soup was good and so were the deserts but the steak was overcooked which was upsetting since I paid $51 for it. They did not have a second bottle of the wine we ordered, and the appitizer was not very good. KC has other options and this place has really fallen.

The one star is for our waiter who was wonderful. However, I have lived in Kansas City for years and often frequent Capital Grille. I was there twice recently and sadly, the food has gone way way downhill. Even the wedge salad, which used to be crisp cold lettuce with pure bacon and blue cheese crumbles has changed into rather wilted yellowish lettuce, blue cheese cream without bacon, and it tasted like a cheap diner restaurant. Tuna appetizer must have sat in the refrigerator for days and the steak was fatty, inedible. I wont go there again.

We walked in 20 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately in the perfect "people-watching" table. The atmosphere is first-class as was the service. We received complimentary samples of soup and pineapple martinis. Their wine menu was on an iPad. The food is as good as anything youre going to find in Kansas City. The steak was phenomenal inside and out, the sides were filling and we splurged on cheesecake, which our demise. I would recommend this to anyone though its quite pricey, so make the experience worth it.

Food was above average but not worth the price. This use to be a classy place to enjoy an evening out. Unforunately, the atmosphere seems to have changed. The table next to us was cursing, getting physical, talking about threesomes and acting completely unruly. The management was absolutely flippant. Id rather spend my money some place where the guests are treated with a little more respect. This is and most likely will remain my only review ever placed online. It takes a lot to upset me...this place did it.

Excellent experience. We went there for the 1st time last night for our 10th year wedding anniversary. Ashley was our server and she did an outstanding job. The level of service was top notch, not to mention the food was amazing as well. The entire staff provided the best level of service Ive seen in a Kansas City restaurant in a long time. Maybe some of the other "high end" restaurants in Kansas City should take a trip to Capital Grille to see what good service and good food is really all about.

Went there this past Fathers Day with friends and noticed that they had placed the only African American families (all three) together in the rear of the restaurant. The glasses were dirty the food was tasty but the entire experience was tainted by the systematic racism. There were other tables open. This was an intentional, disgusting, and ugly practice. I never witnessed such foolishness and stupidity at the Savoy Grille. 2 stars but really zero because they are classless.

Wife and I went for our 1st anniversary. We were treated like Kings & Queens from the minute we stepped in. Service was A+++, Food was delicious. Free dessert for our occasion. Plus they took a picture of us w/ our dessert. Then printed it out and framed it and gave it as a gift all within 5 minutes! 12/10 would recommend to a friend. The only "issue" was our food took a little longer than expected. But she explained the reason why and was so friendly and helpful. Thanks Celia!

So, Capital Grille is expensive, but you probably already know that :) The food is delicious and worth the splurge for special occasions, certainly. We just went for Valentines Day yesterday and enjoyed ourselves, even though reservations were running 30 minutes behind (so we had to wait in the bar area for 30 minutes after 8, when we booked our reservation a month in advance). So that was a little frustrating, but we had a very enjoyable and delicious night, nonetheless!

Probably one of the most bipolar dining experiences. Fabulous service for cocktails in the bar. Surly hostess. Server poured $150 bottle of wine in a water glass and offered no discount nor new bottle. Chowder served cold. Steaks and tuna main course were fantastic. Asked to take leftover tuna home...ended up with someone elses half eaten burgers. Called management who expressed apologies and said she would send a gift card. It never showed. Never going back.

Dear Capital Grille. Can you remove all of those unnecessary Yelp party photos (On Yelp not google maps). I would really just like to be able to see the food photos people post. Scale: bad, o.k., good, awesome, super awesome. Last night had the calamari (good) crab/lobster cakes (awesome) Cesar salad (good) shared a bone in KC strip topped with shallot butter (super awesome) and asparagus (good). Service (awesome) Overall a great dining experience.
