Saffron was our first Indian restaurant that we tried, I thought the food was very tasty so everytime we wanted India food wed go to Saffron. But the last Saturday that we went it was very disappointing, we arrived at 2pm and just two more tables were there, so it wasnt busy at all. We sat and our waitress just asked if we were there for the buffet and she left, no more words from her part (ok..) That was the last time we saw her. About 20 min later the last couple left the restaurant, so we were the only two people in the restaurant. The service started to stare at us from the buffet area, that was completely awkward because we didnt feel welcomed after that, instead uncomfortable as We had to rush eating our meal. We left at 2:44 , 16 minutes before closing time. The service is beyond awful, if you dont have patience, dont work in the food industry or in customer service.

I ordered Goat korma. What was brought to me was about two ounces of meat and the rest was bone and gristle. My wife ordered a chicken dish and she was equally unimpressed, as the meat was mostly dark and fatty. There are two ways you can go. You can either charge premium prices for premium meat, or dirt-cheap prices for C-grade animal product. You cant have it both ways, and at $14 an entree, it seems as if Saffron is trying to pull the wool over your eyes without bothering to see whether the lamb is worth a damn. I also ordered an IPA (beer) because the last time I went, the IPA was from a great NC brewery named Highland Ales. This time it was an awful, mass-produced yeasty mess from Bridgeport Brewing, and they charged, again, a premium price for this stuff. Atrocious to say the least. Avoid at all costs.

While I have enjoyed the lunch buffet here for years, their dinner service is terrible. We waited a good 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a server, and there were maybe only two tables aside from us. Our server spoke almost no english and I had to point to things on the menu. God help us if we had any questions. The bottle of white wine we requested came to our table warm. I had to use gestures to the server to try to explain. Our food was fine, arrived hot and as ordered, but we chose the dinner package for two and had no modifications. We were never checked on, our wine finally came back cold when we were almost done, which was sad because they have a decent wine list, and this bottle was a personal favorite. As long as you can wait on yourself (buffet) they have good food, but their service is god awful.

Saffron has one of the best lunch buffets around, and their food is very tasty. It is slightly more Americanized, so many of the spices are scaled back to appeal to more mild palates. Even when requesting "Indian Hot", your meal will come out however the chef felt like preparing it. The service can be hit or miss, but the food quality is always good. Like NaWaab in Winston-Salem, Saffron offers a nice dining atmosphere and even a wine and beer selection. I love their rosemary naan to pair with my meals. Their dinner prices are the highest in Greensboro, and their quality and authenticity doesnt really rival other local and more authentic restaurants like Tandoor. In many cases, their $17 entrees are as much as 1/2 bones and come in smaller portions than other restaurants.

Ive been to Saffron many times for dinner, but yesterday I went for lunch. Saffrons food is good, but I gave them 3 stars for their level of service. On the occasions that I have gone there for dinner, the waiters and waitresses have allowed my glass to empty, without refilling it. The most frustrating part was the fact that they walked by many times, without even noticing. As the customer, I shouldnt have to ask for a refill on water. Additionally, Ive made requests for additional sauces, etc. and it has taken them more time than necessary to bring it to my table, even when the restaurant wasnt full. Saffron is delicious but if you cant deal with the lack of good, attentive service then you may want to dine somewhere else.

I have gone here multiple times. First time did go with my local friends and service and the food was great. I have taken many other friends to this restaurants and had good experience. Last time I had gone alone and was very disappointed with food quality and price. Food quality dropped from A to D. I have gone to other restaurants which may not be fancy but always had great consistency in food quality. I made a mistake of going there again as there was no other India food restaurant. They changed the menu and prices are up. My family noticed that the guy taking order was pushy. Cost is too high and some food items are not even close to what it should be. I will never go there again.

Ive always loved the food @ Saffron, but yesterdays buffet offering was a major disappointment. As a vegetarian, I found theyve made their buffet line smaller, resulting in fewer veg choices although there were two kinds of chicken, one lamb & two rices; the vegetable choices they had for were fairly boring. The cauliflower dish had little, if any, spice and I found myself adding copious amounts of mint & onion chutney just for flavoring! Although I was assured by one of the waitstaff that the offerings were as plentiful as always, I didnt find that to be the case. I may give them another try another day because I hope this was just a bad day or an inexperienced chef.

Never go here. The racial profile is crazt. I went for my second time with a college buddy , hes 100 percent Indian and looks like it so there would be no guessing on his race.. me however, Im multi racial mom is siscillian and father is Japanese the whole time my waiter and others made me feel so uncomfortable they stared me down the whole time as if why is he with a non Indian woman. I already called to complain, they showed little remorse, and to top it all off I unfolded my silver ware to see a big black hair in it. I will never go again and I will try my best to make sure noone gives any money to this disgraceful business place.

Good choices for lunch! Friends and I come by every month or so and have always found lunch to be very good. Highly recommend for your Indian food craving.... Staff is attentive but do not engage in any conversation.... manager if you read these reviews (and you should) please tell staff to not stare at diners while we eat. I know you are attentive to be of service but it can be off putting...but this doesnt mean I wont be back! I will and hopefully If I notice the staff not staring I will raise my rating (and also means you read these and care about your customers dinning experience).

We went during the lunch buffet on a weekday. All my comments are with regards to food available in the buffet. As a vegeterian, the food choices/variety were OK. They only had Naan for bread. And only 1 daal dish. As an Indian, the food tasted good, very heavy though. I was however disappointed with the desserts section. When we went, the only sweet they had was strawberry pudding. Not very authentic at all! (No traditional Indian or Begali sweets) Service wasnt great but thats generally okay at an Indian Restaurant. Buffet price is very acceptable. The place was well kept.
