As nicely decorated the restaurant is, the food isnt real middle eastern food. The fresh bread was good as well as the hummus but thats kind of hard to mess up. I ordered the beef shawarma plate and it was so over seasoned I couldnt even taste the flavor of the meat anymore. I kindly asked to switch to the chicken shawarma. The cook came out, looked at me, then walked back into the kitchen. A little awkward but I didnt think much of it. Then when the chicken came out, there was NOTHING shawarma about it! It was rotisserie chicken shredded into pieces. I could have bought it from Krogers at that point. I didnt touch it, I ate my side of fries and left the chicken alone. The waitress never asked how my food tasted or if I was satisfied with the switch. As I paid and started to leave I had a feeling telling me to turn around. I look back and the entire staff is huddled watching me leave the restaurant. Very unprofessional, I will not be a repeat customer!

First time here. Fantastic service by Oktay. The lamb vegetable soup is SO delicious (and its nice to know they have lamb, as some Arabic places seem to have been cutting back on it lately.) Their Turkish coffee has extra spice and is oh-so nice. Chicken shawarma sandwich (my benchmark for a new Arabic restaurant) is tender, generously portioned and has a good amount of garlic; next time I may ask for a few extra pickles though. (Disclaimer: extra garlic & pickles is probably a personal preference.) The inside is clean and nicely decorated. Service was super fast, AND they open at 10:00 for lunch (good if you didnt have enough for breakfast as I did today!) The manager came over to make sure my visit was good; also very friendly. Overall, for no complaints, I give La Marsa 5 stars and will definitely return! :-)

Horrible service. I would never recommend them to anyone. Hired them for a graduation party came about 1.5 hrs late. I had guests show up and leave and I had no food out. Once they started cooking, they didnt have enough meat/chicken (i had hired their cook to grill on site). They didnt bring any tools or containers for the cooked items to be transferred to my chafing dishes. Left a mess on the grill and floor surrounding the area. At the end he tried to overcharge me. Never even got an apology instead I was told I mistreated his employees because I was upset. I have never dealt with such unprofessional people. Take my word and do not use them.

Servers are friendly and polite but the food is nothing special flavor wise and the portion sizes are very small despite the prices being a bit high, also it takes VERY long for your orders to come out, even something as simple as a cup of soup and a smoothie/raw juice takes a ridiculously long time to come to your table. Also, they mixup orders, bringing you things you didnt order and forgetting things you did order. I ordered a sandwich with a side of fries for my main course and they brought me an extra sandwich I hadnt ordered while forgetting my fries. I will not be coming back.

If you havent tried this place, go try it out! Great lentil soup, one of the best!!! Garlic dip is good, so is fresh tasty bread! sometimes hummus is salty, but they have great raw juices and can make any combo you want (thanks!) fattoush is fresh, chicken kabob/tawook and chicken shawarma sandwiches are pretty good, but small portions (sometimes not enough chicken, sometimes too much!) mozarella sticks and fries are good. falafel is mostly good--each place makes it different, so its up to you to judge.

Best Middle Eastern carry-out around. Hands down. At least for chicken dishes. Thats all Ive ever gotten here. Kabobs, Tawook Salad, etc. All great. Chicken Kabob Sandwiches are great. Fresh tender kabobs. And theyll usually add hummus & tabouli to the sandwiches at no charge if you ask. Its a bit more expensive than most other local Middle Eastern places, but you can expect to get what you pay for here.

Lovers of middle eastern food know flavors and recipes can vary from place to place. But its the basics that matter. At this location, quality has been top notch for the past few years Ive been eating there. Huge portions, fresh ingredients; authentic food prepared and presented in a manner top chefs would approve of. Its on my list of the best middle eastern places around town.

Great place for lunch. The fresh juices are delicious. You will smell like garlic when you leave but it is worth it. The bread and garlic dip is wonderful. The lunch options are delicious well sized and priced. The dinner options are huge and usually make leftovers which are wonderful reheated for lunch the next day. I highly recommend if you like this sort of food.

Had the server Jiji and she was sitting at a booth talking to her friends instead of serving us and the place was also not very clean. After I gave her a tip she requested me to tip her MORE. Do not reccomend this place at all. absolutely horrible service and overpriced food. the shrimp kabob cost $20 and only came with 5 pieces of shrimp.

The worst chicken shawarma I ever had, it does not even look like shawarma. And when I told the waiters that I was disappointed with the food I got she said thats how we make it, I was like I know how shawarma at least should look like I have had it a million times and she just walked away. So disappointed, and will never go there again.

To be fair, my first visit was OK. Good garlic paste & humus. My second visit, with five coworkers, landed me in St. Marys hospital for two days with severe food poisoning. All of the other five guys got violently ill as well. Its safe to say we will never go back and would definitely recommend staying away from this restaurant!

Casual place with excellent service! The lentil soup and fresh baked pita bread make a nice light meal. Try the mint tea, its not on the menu but they will gladly brew a pot for you if you ask. The falafel was very sharp from the raw garlic but I enjoyed the smooth and slightly smokey baba ganoush with the warm pita bread.

Although food is good, but watch out for the Sever you get, DINO is the worst server I ever had in my life. He refused to separate our bill, switched orders, forgot to bring soup for 3 of us, randomly switching the orders after getting food to the table (between vegetable and meat orders), not POLITE.

Come here only if you want to eat pita and garlic butter. I ordered chicken shawarma which was stale and cold. I then asked the server to change shawarma and I got back the same plate reheated. I wouldnt recommend the place for entrees. Appetizers and pita is great to have here.

I just moved about 20 minutes away from La Marsa and I still go back because I cant find any place with food thats so great or employees who are so conscientious. I always get the grape leaf sandwich and lentil soup. And theyll load you up with bread for your hummus!

La Marsa is pound for pound the best Mediterranean restaurant in metro Detroit and there are other strong contenders for this. They make the best salmon ghallahba in the area. The service is very accommodating and they create a wonderful dining experience.
