Earlier today I ordered an order of Seekh Kabobs. I was extremely excited to try these considering I am a big fan of Indian food. Unfortunately, the texture of kabobs was similar to that of rubber and was not edible by any means. I felt uncomfortable calling to let the restaurant know but after paying 18$ (the cashier did not have change to give me) for the meal I felt the need to call. The female owner advised me to come back with the food. I returned and she had made "new" kabobs that were of the same, unpleasant taste and texture. I apologized to the owner multiple times for she made me feel like I had committed some crime by not liking the food she remade. She stated things like "THE TASTE IS NOT UP TO YOU!" Which was both confusing and surprising considering I am the customer, so the taste is up to me... After arguing with the owner for 15 minutes, she simply walked away. I am disappointed that this was handled in such an unprofessional manner and that I was not given the chance to try something new, rather forced to take with me the same food I ordered earlier. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

We stopped in on a random evening when we didnt quite know what we were in the mood for and were glad we did. This place wasnt incredible, but was worth finding! We started with naan that was admittedly more like a flatbread/pita than what were used to, however, it was still delicious. We had Keema naan with lamb and cilantro - It was really good! For dinner we decided to go classic with curry and tika masala - we decided to go medium for spicy as that generally means mild. These guys actually do spicy! The masala and curry were both flavorful and cooked perfectly. The portions were great and gave us enough to take home some for the next afternoon. Beer and wine were limited, but not restrictive - there was enough to choose from and we really werent there for the libation selection. That said, they had a number of Indian beer selections that were nice to see again! The Bollywood music playing sets the ambiance for what Haveli is - a good authentic Indian place were the food and service were solid. Worth checking out.

Best Indian food in the Iowa City-Coralville area. I usually go for the lunch buffet and get a chai tea. True to form there are always vegetarian options and there are usually a couple new dishes swapped into the buffet every time I go. I also really enjoy the Indian music videos that play quietly in the background. The service is pretty hands-off for the buffet, which works for me. Also note that you pay at the register near the door. My only complaint is that its food is never spicy, even if listed as spicy. But that doesnt stop me when I have a hunger for Indian food and in the Iowa City area. I like spicy food. But nothing beats well made India food. If youre one of those people that is crazy for naan try Exotic India. Their entres are 2nd in the area to Haveli, but their side dishes are 1st.

Terrible management. I called to come in late on a weekday and checked if the buffet would still be open, the lady said yes but I reached there 15 minutes earlier than the time she told me, but only to realize that they took the buffet out an hour earlier. This is ridiculous. If they cant serve, they should have informed ahead when I called in. Then it took so long for them to get me just water. We were the only table in the whole restaurant. And the food was so bland and my paratha was half cooked. I understand they were in a hurry to close and leave, but atleast they should have the courtesy to say it or make it. The staff was very kind, he tried to put up with whatever bullshit the owner told him and be courteous enough. That is the only reason I even bothered to give them a One Star.

Made the mistake of coming here on Valentines day. To my eyes the restaurant seemed fairly slow for Saturday night on a special evening but according to the owner and her staff they were slammed. Long story short, we were made to wait over an hour for even a papadum to arrive at the table (despite having two children with us) and we had to complain to even get that. Once the food arrived it was good but not excellent. If it werent for the quality of the food being of a certain standard I would hesitate to even give one star. After eating, I discussed with the owner what had happened with the service and suggested perhaps a comped drink or some gesture of good will. I was very clearly told that nothing of the sort would happen. Never coming back.

The lunch buffet is consistently good, with a large variety of vegetarian options that change frequently with the season. The meat dishes are fewer, and confined to chicken and lamb, naturally, because Hindus avoid beef and the Muslims pork , but they are consistently good. The desserts are standard but well made. It is highly advisable to go there at least 1 1/2 hours before the end of the buffet time, however: for the low price you pay for it, it is not economical for the owners to make a fresh batch of all the dishes for just a few people if you come in 1/2 hour before closing.. If you do, you are likely to be confined to only those items that have not been fully consumed.

I dont really write reviews, but I had to write one for Haveli. Its Delicious... My wife and I recently moved to town and this is one of our favorite restaurants. Weve eaten a lot of Indian food in Iowa, and this is some of the best you will find, certainly our favorite in Iowa city. Every dish weve had has been delicious and also just unique enough to be interesting and not just another carbon copy of the same dish you will find everywhere. Try the buffet its also really good. Not sure about the reviews about bad service but weve always been taken very good care of. Enjoy!

I went to this place on Saturday, valentines night. I was with a group of 6 other people. Restaurant was full. The food was fantastic and the service was fast. We ordered 2 malai koftas, navrtan korma, chicken tika masala and chicken korma. We also orderd tandoori chicken and some naans. I must admit their tandoori chicken is the best we ever had. The entrees tasted delicious! The bollywood music was a big plus!!! The staff is very friendly here. Will definitely be coimg back soon.

Carefull this place is dangerous for Heath, staff do not wash there had after restroom, put fingers in food and water without gloves. Specially if kids do not go there. Food is full of soda, so people do not eat more in buffets and make your stomach comfortable for whole day. Staff behavior is rude, they become impatient if you go with friends and have talks there, they want you to complete food and go fast, else staff behavior will become annoying and un comfortable

Very good location, Just one mile from I-80, several good hotels and shopping options around. I tried Lunch buffet, good number of veggie entries and decent test. Then I went for dinner, and every thing that I had was awesome. New Restaurant, Nice decor, fast service, spicy panjabi style food, what else you want in a Indian Restaurant. After trying Exotic India, it was like paradise for me. Keep it up.
