The atmosphere and decor was good. The food was very well presented, which I guess is why they call it Masala "art". They have small portion options like tapas under 9 dollars, so you can try items without getting a large amount. I ordered the Dosa platter, which I attached a picture of. I have had Dosa once before. This tasted good, however I thought it would come pre-assembled. Instead it is a make your own Dosa (basically a crepe). Still it was fun. My wife on the other hand ordered the Chicken Tikka Lettuce Wraps. It did not say it would be spicy, but after a few pieces we just could not eat anymore. I wish they had indicated that it would be spice and my wife would not have ordered it. All in all it was a good place, the price is fair, and the ambiance is nice, we will go back, but try other options.

3 bad experiences. Two pertain to the buffet take out. I like rice so I put a really generous layer of rice in the container. Twice the owner gave me a hard time for taking too much. There is no sign that says how much one can take, if the owner is concerned he can provide smaller take out containers or do it by the pound. The third experience as beyond belief. The restaurant closed on Sunday for a private part at the time when folks go to the brunch. There was a sign on the door BUT since I had no reason to doubt that the restaurant is open, I drove 25 minutes to be turned away. I will not be returning to this restaurant. The last thing is that the awning at the back entry is filthy so now I am wondering how clean is their kitchen.

Masala Art of Needham specializes in Anglo-Indian cuisine, offering a well-balanced menu of meat and vegetable dishes. It is a nice-looking restaurant with a conscientious service staff. My favorite of their entrees is the Lamb Vindaloo, a spicy curry with lamb, vinegar, hot peppers, and potato chunks. I typically order the Garlic Naan on the side, a delicious ghee-drenched flat bread. The old English-Indian standby Tikka Masala is also a favorite. While a meal at Masala Art is not going to blow you away with creativity or flavor, it will likely be satisfying, and it will never be awful.

A MUST-DINE spot in Beantown .. as a foodie who has eaten @ top notch restaurants around the globe I can vouch that Masala Art is up there with the best of the best. Do not miss their green cardamom inspired curry (yes, its that unique). The breadth and depth of options on the menu far outranks your average Indian restaurant .. again, a do-not-miss spot. The added bonus is that the owners are genuinely nice and you will leave feeling you have made a new friend over lunch or dinner!

Had one of the most forgettable meals on the July 4 holiday here with family and friends. Perhaps the A team had the day off - every Indian Chinese item we ordered was unbelievably bad with an overdose of soya sauce and vinegar drowning all taste and flavor. The service was non existent. There was no owner or manager in sight. Shared feedback on the website but no response. Overpriced + bad food + poor service = avoid.

Terrible service and rude staff. Waited over 30 minutes for my order. Once I arrived home with our food the management called to say they had given me the wrong order and asked me if I could return it, which I did. Upon my arrival back home with the "correct" order, I was disappointed to find out they gave us a wrong entree and denied any wrongdoing. I hate to say it but we will never be back here again.

The food is above average but nothing to write home about. The waiters were rude and slow. We were there for the lunch buffet and the waiters took forever to give us bread to go with all the curries. When they did get around to giving us the bread, they just gave us three pieces of Naan for a table of 8! Parking tip: there is free parking at the rear of the building that you can access from Chestnut St.

Its was 5 in evening and my wife just wanted some Aloo Paratha so we took a detour from I95. The menu specifically said "Tawa aloo paratha" but they served Aloo Naan. When I enquired, the waiter said "they now make it like that". It was pretty much tasteless. We didnt feel like ordering anything after that and the waiter banged the plates when he was clearing up. I dont know what the attitude was for.

Good atmosphere, avg service. If you know anything about Indian Chinese food then you will be highly disappointed to try here. Those were some Hakka noodles full of ketchup and super spicy I mean isnt there a concept of putting stars on the menu , well this must be more than 5 stars but the point is its supposed to be dry not soggy in ketchup. Cmon 1 good indian restaurant is that so hard??????

Had gone after seeing few good reviews but should have skipped it... seems like current reviews are correct, food is not as expected and service is very poor...I love Indian food but this one was very low to my expectation.. Someone correctly said, better get readymade packs. Avoid.

I have had several good meals at Masala Arts but am not in a rush to go back due to the bartender. He rams his suggestions down your throat and then gives attitude if you dont follow his instructions. I will only go there off times when I do not need to come into contact with him.

I arrived at the end of buffet, ten minutes left. Probably would rate it 4 or 5 stars if I was offered a discount, take home plate, or if the buffet items were refreshed for me. I will probably try again and order fresh as it seemed like it was once decent food.

Service was poor, the lamb saag was tasteless, the garlic naan tasted worse than the frozen naan from the grocery and it took 20 minutes to be served after we sat down and just as long to leave after we asked for the check. This used to be a good restaurant.

This is a contemporary and elegant Indian restaurant in Needham Center. We love the food here and look forward to eating here regularly. The restaurant and their food is a bit more upscale that your average Indian restaurant and the prices follow suit.

I did pick-up from this place and have also eaten their food at parties where they catered. The food is good, the breads were really good. The website does not have the prices so that was not convenient at all. Goodluck and enjoy

The food is consistently good but pricey compared to better options in Waltham or Brookline. Most dishes tend to be spicier than I am used to. Even when I ask for dishes to be mild, they are still too spicy for my kids.

Yummy food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere. The prices are average-slightly high, but the dishes are slightly smaller than your average Indian restaurant. Not enough to lose a star though!

I ordered food from here once and I have decided not to go back. the parathawas very small and they charged around 4 $ for one paratha. The lamb curry was also tasteless. Service was okay.
