Mediocre food. Ive had better at a buffet... you know, where its all you can eat The Tandoori Chicken was served in a large bed of onions and lettuce. Cheap. The fish was dried fish (perhaps that is common) We ordered three dishes and only two came. When we discussed with the waiter he said you only ordered two things. Untrue. Nevertheless, we felt blessed to get less, pay less. This is an Indian Restaurant with one person from India: the owner, you will see the very obese person sitting near the the front door. Everyone else is from Nepal (according to the employees we spoke to) We will NOT visit again. Not disgusting. Just not worth the money. It could be fixed but likely will not be. Nice ambiance. Note the address. There is a place across the street with a similar name. I have NOT ever eaten there. Below, a guy named Razim said, "I was there once with my family. The total bill was $59 and i left $6tip. And a week later i was my visa. They charged me $83 . Doesnt any one know why ?" Razim: It is called THEFT. Certain families allow for it. Perhaps someone in his family thought that you should have left a larger tip. Im going to call my credit card company as soon as I post this... Can you image a MERCHANT stealing from a customer!!!??? Cant say what happened with you Razim... but it seems that some types of people simply will steal if they think that they can get away with it.

I never bother to write a review for a restaurant until now…yesterday I went to Punjab for like 5th time and every time I been there the quality and the test of food is getting worst by day, the only reason I kept going there was I didn’t know of any other Indian restaurant in Boston and oh boy there are so many class Indian rest I my friends recommended me now!!!!!!1 What bother me the most is every time I been to this palace the staff is so unfriendly and lack serious management and serving skills and training…u have to wait so much for someone even to attend your table for first glass of water; and when they come…no smile no greeting nothing…..even though I m eating my appetizer they will start serving the main dish (every freaking time) …..Yesterday I ask if they can substitute chicken instead of paneer …and the can is like “ I don’t kn why don’t you other another chicken dish if u want chicken” hahah …and the dish I order had serious bacon flavor and smell to it (and the dish has non-bacon dish)me and my friend couldn’t even eat it. Yukkkk I m never going back to this place…

Definitely not punjabi, especially the "dal makhani" a dish core to the list of traditional punjabi food, was sadly flavorless and bland. The hosts at door are merely checking for open seats for one...two..three into their screens, without considering if it was a matter of the restaurants reputation to deliver a better image of the place through thoughtfully considering if its family..friends that need to be seated. Costs of food and proportions are ridiculous and the tables are so small that even the dishes and the plates find it hard to be believe they are there on it. Overall... It is a sad place with silly ambience aka poor light positioning on ceilings...this place is definitely not worth the price and I recommend indian restaurants in Harvard square over this place, any day. This is strictly my opinion and people can choose to find out their own experiences for themselves... I dont believe in spending $12 per dish for such a sad experience.

Ive had a number of excellent meals here. Ambiance is high quality and comfortable and clean. Very nice and comfortable bar, which is where I usually eat. Service is always great at the bar, so I cant speak to the other negative reviews from the dining area. Prices are fair for very high quality food. The home style chicken curry is really authentic and delicious. Theyll spice it up as well, which is nice. The double cut lamb chops are tremendous, slow cooked in their tandoori oven. Tender, spicy and lean. Really nice. This place also nails the little things like Naan and chutneys. My wife is nuts about the tikka masala Highly recommended authentic Indian food.

I have always like Punjab for its friendly service and reliable dishes. I count on the yellow dhal and pooris to fill my cravings for Indian food. Even my kids love it. The chai is authentic Indian style (not that Starbucks crap) The bar is trendy and comfortable, especially when they put on a Hindi film!. But I think the dining room is too cold with its metal chairs and stone tables. I think a dining room should be warm and comfortable. That is the only thing I would change. Other than that, the food is great.

We celebrated a friends birthday here and the staff was very nice and accommodating. They allowed us to cut a cake there and even helped light the candle. The Lamb Chops were beautifully cooked (cut like butter) and very well spiced (without being spicy, if you dont like hot food). Samosa Chaat was exquisite and very filling. The portion size of this starter is like an entree. The lamb samosas were also heavenly, but the serving has 3 samosas. Be wary when choosing spice levels, as their HOT is VERY spicy.

I have been there multiple times - by myself, with friends and with colleagues. The food is terrible. I dont think it is even close to real Punjabi cooking, let alone other styles from other parts of India. The service is mediocre at best. The ambience is decent but does not justify the ratings. I can think of only two possibilities. Either they pay people to write those reviews and give those ratings. Or people genuinely like that food which is definitely not Punjabi.

Ive been to a large fraction of the Indian restaurants in the Boston area, and this is by the far the best Indian food you can get, way better than Bombay club. Dining area was a little dark and dull and service was a little slow, but who cares? You go to a restaurant to eat, and this is the best Indian food around. Samosas were excellent, all the subjis we ordered were served piping hot and excellent. They do make you pay a little more than average for it though.

Food was ok but the service was terrible. Instead of being polite, the rude waiter was constantly towering over us, taking our plates away before we were done eating, almost spilling water on to our plates. Was unsatisfied with the tip he received for a party of 4, and demanded for more money for the tip. Its rude to demand additional tip on top of the 15% that we have them. The service definitely left a bitter taste. Never going there again.

Good Indian Restaurants are hard to find. Many now cook large pots of curry well in advance and spoon them out for customers. Not so at Punjab. You can watch the chefs prepare your meal though the large windows overlooking the tandoori ovens in the kitchen. Be careful of how hot you order as medium to hot is hot at other places. Overall, curries were excellent and they have a nice wine list with appropriate wines for Indian food.

This is probably the best Indian restaurant Ive ever been to. This place serves near-perfection naan and rice, and the lamb tikka masala is amazing. The ambiance is nice, and I love getting seated inside the bead curtain in the middle of the restaurant. Im always surprised how fast the meal gets to the table. I like how they put little candles under the food. Its easily accessible by public transportation. Amazing.
