When we lived in Waltham, we ate at this place--which, at that time, was still a whole in the wall, not yet the nice new location on Moody--at least once a week. We got takeout so often that they knew us by our phone order. It is unfathomable to me that these guys dont have flawless ratings on here; the food is hands down the best Indian food in greater Boston, and possibly an even larger radius. We live in Rhode Island now, and there are a couple really good Indian places here, but we will still drive an hour into Massachusetts to go eat at Kabab when we get the chance. Specifics: The food is more authentic than what you often find. So often, Indian restaurants all have the same menu, designed to comfort the American palate. Although youll find many of the "classics" here, the strong emphasis on regional Hyderabadi cuisine means some less usual choices, and also influences the seasoning and spices. Personally, Im a huge fan of the chicken 65 and the ginger chicken, but Ive never tried anything here that wasnt fantastic. Oh, and the paratha is also excellent... Weve taken many foodie friends here over the years, and theyve all confirmed our opinions. The decor is not exciting, but the ambiance is inviting, and the staff are all very competent, friendly, and welcoming. Frankly, though, the food is so good that Id eat at this place if it were in the basement of a tattoo parlor. Its that delicious. The only downside is that, because its a Halal restaurant, theres no booze. But order a tasty lassi, and youll be perfectly happy. You can always go to Tempo for a drink afterwards, if you have any room left in your stomach. I never do. Final point: not for the faint of heart when it comes to spice. "Mild" dishes such as korma and masala that, at more americanized places, are generally devoid of all heat are at least the equivalent of what youre used to calling "medium". If you buy mild salsa, try Kabab for lunch first. The buffet is less spicy than the same items from the dinner menu.

I hate giving bad reviews, but really our experience this evening barely deserved one star. Tuesday evening, two other tables occupied. The waiters ineptitude was hopefully due to inexperience. Halfway through taking our order his cell phone rang several times. He answered it and disappeared for a few minutes before finally coming back so we could complete ordering. The appetizer was the only positive thing, lentil based balls with a spicy yogurt sauce. After that it was all downhill. The chicken breast kebab was 2 patties of what appeared to be mystery meat. The whole eggplant in peanut sesame sauce was 2 small eggplants in a sauce that tasted very vinegary, and not at all of peanut or sesame. We had to remind the waiter that we had ordered mango lassis and they arrived after we were almost done with the little we ate. They were very tasty. We were in a hurry to go and finally got the waiter to bring us the check after several minutes of waiting. We had eaten little, but not wanting to waste asked him to bag everything up. He did so with the rice and sauce/eggplant, but bizarrely left the remaining chicken kabob sitting on its plate on the table. Probably the best place for it. I hope this just happened to be a bad night or they wont survive long against the excellent competition on Moody St.

The worst food I ever tried until now in USA. I went there on weekend and tried the buffet, and guess what all started from plates, not clean at all, there was no napkin to clean, next food- so cold like I am taking from freeze and eating. Tandoor roti was no wonder so hard and cold like they prepared 10 days back kept there for so many days, take any curry- even if you had if from freeze directly that would have been more hot and somewhat eatable but those ones were awful killers. Sweet omg no words, idk how to tell...I took everything just to check if I can get anything just and I mean just eatable becoz I was going to pay anyway. They dont know where is restroom, nobody bothered to come and ask about the food, not even lift the plates, we were 3 people and out of space on that table, but who cares!!! Last thing I hope from this horrible experience is that I will not get seek. This is not the Indian food and definitely this is not how it is served in any of the other restaurant I have been so far. Just spare yourself and skip the any buffet there, even if its free!!!

The minimum I could go was 1 star. This made me sad. First of all, I am an Indian. I shall give my review based on this and also based on the fact that I know what hygiene protocols the USA follows for restaurants (to which I have the utmost respect). Lets begin with the review: [1] Hygiene is no where to be seen. The food is already prepared and laid out in front, all they have to do is sprinkle water and reheat it ( they would heat it for you if you order a take-away). You have no idea how old the food is when its warm. Remember this: The kitchen is very unclean and food is handled very poorly. [2] Restrooms: DONT EVER GO WITHIN 15 feet of that restroom. They are used by all the workers who work in the Waltham India Market and so forth. Very unclean and very dirty. [3] This restaurant (the dining area as well as open dining area) holds a common kitchen, this is one of dirtiest (the last one I saw was in Texas) restaurants I have seen.

I mainly been to this restaurant for lunch buffet. My work place is not very far from here, so me and my friends come here quite often for a bite. Eating area is very nice and clean, gives a very nice ambience. They also have indian snack in the area outside the sitting area which are simply delicious! Even in buffet, they maintain pretty good food quality, I like roasted chicken here. Also, they are one of the few places who cook fresh Haleem on order. Its very good and one of my friend is crazy for their Haleem, but its not included in buffet :( unfortunately. Really recommend this place for trying lunch buffet and evening snacks, you can also do indian grocery on the top level :)

I spent some time in Hyderabad a couple years ago, and try to eat Andhra food whenever I can (not easy in the USA, but theres a place in Bangalore I go to when I can). Im disappointed to say that -- after all these great reviews -- my wife and I went here and it was absolutely terrible. Three different dishes had the exact same watery low-quality curry -- it tasted like they had made one curry, dumped a half cup of water in it, and used it for all three. The papadums were dripping in ghee -- I mean, I like ghee as much as anyone, but its a papadum, not a Philly Cheese Steak! The rice was pretty much the only thing that was decent. One of the worst Indian meals weve ever had.

Im from Hyderabad myself and I can tell you, you will have to travel far to find a more authentic Hyderabadi restaurant. Try Chicken Hyderabadi, Chili Chicken, Ginger Chicken, Chicken 65 or Achar Chicken and each one has its own distinct and delicious flavor. You must also try some of their specialties like the Haleem, Nihari and Biriyani. Also dont forget that Biriyani accompaniments such as Mirch ka Salan and Bagaray Baingan are excellent here and are hard to find in other places. This place is God sent, but thank God its a bit far away from me, because I for one am not good at resisting good food!
