Tonight I had a very disappointing experience. We were celebrating my birthday dinner so it was a special time. I was the last person that was served at the table each time. It was very obvious that the person cooking the food was not proportioning things well. The final straw was at the main course. I had ordered lobster and fillet mignon. I took a picture of the lobster when it was cooking. Very frustrating that the cook at the end cut the lobster tails and combined all five. Every other person at the table had large chunks and a large portion. I kicked myself after all was said and done because I didnt take a picture of the joke of the amount of lobster that I was given. I had already bit my tongue on the tiny pieces of shrimp that he gave me. My friend called someone over to explain. Take for granted I never complain at a restaurant and was really questioning whether I should say something. The only reason I did is because the lobster was half of my meal and we were paying $37 for it. She sent the manager over. It was our understanding that they were going to get a secondary cook to make more lobster for me. We waited and waited. Thinking they were cooking the lobster. I had already eaten everything but a half cup of my fried rice while waiting (which I never eat everything, always take a to go box… But not this time). The manager comes over ( after I have boxed my rice myself ... Saved some rice because I hoped that a few more pieces of lobster would be coming over and was going to take it with me since it took them forever ) and tries to explain to me that he sent an email (to who and why?) and that the lobster that they were being shipped were coming in small. I explained to him that was not the issue. I told him the lobster were all the same size that were being cooked and beautiful. I explained that the issue was the fact that he shorted me and gave me very tiny pieces. My serving seriously looked like tiny tidbits of scraps. Why does the chef not keep the lobster tails separate so that everyone gets the correct amount? It was seriously a joke. So the manager explained that he just took $10 off our ticket. Really? The whole time we thought someone was cooking lobster to make up for what he did. I came there too eat a good meal for my birthday not save another $10. I suppose I got this type of treatment because I was using a $30 coupon that Benihana sent me for my birthday? To top it all off a lady came over at the end (right before the manager came over to explain)and put everyones leftovers in small boxes for them. She walked over to me and handed me my box and I had to put my own leftover rice in my box. Now take for granted I seriously didnt mind doing this but just the fact that she boxed everyone elses and didnt even offer to box mine was right in line with the experience we were having !! This experience was so disappointing because we have spent thousands of dollars at Benihana over the years. Ive never had this happen. I think the other people at the table who were also celebrating a birthday just felt sorry for us… They offered us a piece of their birthday cake which was the highlight of my night! We will start spending our birthday celebrations at Izakaya on 96th St!

This was the worst experience I couldve possibly had. I went here on my lunch break from work because I wanted a relaxing environment to get work off of my mind. I walked they the door and rather than being greeting, I had to great the hostess. She then just looked at me. I told her I was eating alone and she said it was open seating. This being my first time there, I did not know that. I seated myself. I sat at the table for nearly 10 minutes before getting a. Menu. The waitress placed he menu in front of me but didnt even take my drink order when I was handed the menu. She went to another table immediately. I waited another 10 minutes before I was able to order. This poor waitress had all of the open seating all by herself. My sprite sat empty almost the entirety of my meal. I didnt get a single refill even after asking. My food was cold. I asked to speak with the manager. She told me they were busy and would come out. I waited 15 minutes after for a so-called manager to come out. One NEVER CAME. So, I paid the $27 for ONE PERSON and I left because my lunch break was over and I was already late. As I was walking out, both hostess were on their phone and didnt say a word to me. I will not return here for their overpriced burnt over cooked cold food or their terrible service. This place needs some help. Seriously.

This place has went downhill! Racist cook on the bar side! My husband and I ordered the steak and lobster meal. The rice was missing egg and the chicken we ordered wasnt includesd. The soup was room temperature. We ordered our steaks cooked medium. The chef cooked our steaks well done. He personally came to our table and told my husband and I that people our color usually eat steaks well done. We complained to the Manager Justin who turned blood shot red and had nothing to say but next meal is on him because he notices we come in weekly. When we returned the same cook, same incident relived again. I complained to the female manager and she had a nonchalant attitude and didnt seem to care! We havent been back since!!! When do cooks make steaks base off skin color!!!! I dont pay to have bad memories and experiences. Especially when the meals are very expensive! Waste of money and time!!! We are now on the search for a new place to have our date night.

I was so disappointed! My boyfriend and I planned to celebrate my birthday with Benihana and a movie. We had to wait for an hour just for someone to bring us water and then another 30 minutes for a chef. The food was great, but it was overshadowed by the fact that we waited so long in a hot, loud room with super sticky floors. I was grossed out before we began eating. The management had a chance to redeem themselves by at least taking a percentage off of our bill or accepting my $30 birthday credit just because I had it on my phone rather than a paper copy. Neither of these solutions took place. We paid our full price and left appalled. Cheers to the chef for excellent food, but I would not recommend this establishment to anyone until some serious improvements are made. Please put my $30 of Birthday credit to good use making improvements so others have better birthday dinners than mine.

Ive been going to this Benihana location since the 90s. Ive never had an experience like we had. It was SO disappointing. The only shining star of the entire evening was our chef. He was professional, quick, talented and the food was delicious. We had reservations, but werent seated for a half an hour after the reservation time, and then it took another 15 minutes for a server to come to our table, and then another 15 minutes for us to get our drinks. So we were at the restaurant for an hour before we had anything of any type of sustenance. Once the ball got rolling on the service it was fine - but it was a nightmare until then. Maybe this location has new management? I cant figure out what has changed, but man, it sure was disappointing. Food was delicious as always, but the service was pretty awful. Sad.
