I went here this past week during the lunch hour. I had previously eaten only take away, which had always been fantastic. During lunch Cumin makes available a buffet, which has a wide selection of what I would bet to be their best sellers. Ive eaten at Indian restaurants that try harder to maintain the freshness, or at least the appearance of fresh, much more than Cumin did. That being said, the taste and flavour, very much makes up for a less than optimum display. I tried the pakora medley, the paneer, the chicken tikka masala, a vegetarian vindaalu, their goat specialty, and one other dish, of which I, at present, cannot recall the name. Fantastically filling, the spectrum of tastes and colours was almost indignant in announcing how great it is. The end result: You cant go wrong. The vindaalu was less spicy than expected, but presumably it can be ordered to preference, separately. The service was fine. Polite. We encountered a conundrum as one of our party is both gluten & dairy free. Gluten free is not at all a hardship to overcome, but dairy; dairy is in about every sauce, and almost every meat is cooked in some sort of dairy. It took about 20 minutes to figure out what did not have dairy, with multiple disappearances by the staff, and while an expanded selection may have been available to my friend, the best we could get on most dishes was an, "its fine. Its very good." Leaving only a few selections that definitively did not have any gluten or dairy. Id say try dinner or take away.

Awful. Cliched, bad owner behavior. We ordered for pickup and got disconnected twice, placed on hold for 15 minutes, then placed an order. They are around the corner from our house, so we thought we would try even though it is a little pricier than our preferred Chicago Curry House. We ordered 2 butter chicken (one mild, one hot) and an order of tandoori chicken. Rice with the dish was extra. The tandoori was dry and old with some sad onion slices and 1 tiny piece of lemon tossed in the box. The butter chicken is shredded, tiny bits of chicken, not the nice chunks one gets at nicer places. There is no naan or rice included nor side sauces. The two butter chicken orders were the exact same - both hot. I called to ask if about it and the owner told me one was "slightly milder" - I told him they were the same and that the lids were not labeled. He told me the writing might have rubbed off, that I was wrong - he packed them himself. I dont know about you, but I prefer cool owners, good food that deserves the prices charged and a nice presentation. This was rude and lazy all the way around and I will never go back nor recommend it.

Bad service. We went with a group and had a reservation for 8 P.M. but werent seated until 8:45. The waiter took a long time to ask for our orders and did not repeat them back to us. When the food was brought out, it was not made clear to us which plate belonged to which person. The food was quickly shuffled around and two of our guests were left without their entrees. Finally, the waiter came to check up on us. When we told him two people were missing their entrees, he insisted that the server had brought them and explained to him. I told him that it was not clear. Later, they brought out two more entrees, and this time got one of the orders incorrect. When I told the waiter this, he brought out the manager who insisted that "everything is fine" and that we had gotten the order, even though I told him that the entree was incorrect. No apologies were made and not consideration on our check. The food was typical Indian food, tasty, but not good enough to make me return in light of the treatment. Visited August 2011

As much as I want to like Cumin, it is a disappointment. It is not inexpensive - between my wife and myself, we spent over $60 (we did not drink alcohol). The meal was the Indian Monsoon (meat combo), which was prepared ok, but without much of the delicious spice and flavor I like for good Indian cuisine. The most irritating factor of dinner was the fact that it took over 90 minutes for our meal to be served, with no explanation to the delay aside from the sorry this took so long as it was placed at our table. I know kitchens can get backed up and it was moderately busy, but come-on, we are talking rice, tandoori chicken, and stewed lentils (which had most likely been prepared much earlier). We asked what was taking so long and it was almost ready each time we asked. The only silver lining was that I did not get a traffic ticket as I only bought a parking pass for 90 minutes and the entire meal took us 2 hours. We will not be going back to Cumin.

Im so disappointed that after several years of ordering for delivery from Cumin, they decided to change their delivery boundaries. Thats not why Im reviewing them, because any business is allowed to update their delivery zone; its how they handle breaking it to the customer... I call, provide my phone number, and confirm my information which they have in their system. The guy says they dont deliver to me, and I mention that I know I usually have to pay a bit more delivery fee. The guy insists they flat out dont deliver to me, and that he doesnt see any prior orders in the computer from me; when I question why they would have my information AT ALL, he just hangs up the phone on me. Really? Who even hangs up on people?! In the end, Ill miss splurging... But I wont beg a business to take my money.

Their lunch buffet is incredible. The tikka and chicken korma was out of this world good, as was their tandoori chicken. The ample veggie dished were made with what appeared to be fresh ingredients. The rice pudding was well spiced with whole green cadimom pods throughout adding a depth of flavor. They bring crisp, thin naan fresh to your table as well. The only low point was their raita, which was in my not-at-all professional opinion tasteless and far too thick. The service was prompt and friendly. Oh - and if you can get a window table, the people watching on Milwaukee is great entertainment!

I have had this place deliver for years, tonight I called and the host tells me that they want to charge me $6 for delivery because I am "out of their delivery area". I checked their delivery map (and am within their delivery area) I told him (the above) and asked for a manager (none available). I asked for a manager to call me back, no call. It seems that this business has had a turn for the worse, I do not care for the new attitude or the false claims. 6:10pm March 29 14

Ive noticed Cumin quite a few times in my wanderings, and had wanted to dine there for quite a while, so when I finally got the opportunity, my expectations were quite high. For starters, we ordered chicken momo (reminded me of tiny wow bao) and samosas. Nothing spectacular there, but not bad. Main course consisted of Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Sahi Korma, and Fish Vindaluu. Didnt care for the fish too much, but the rest was extremely enjoyable.

We went for the lunch buffet thinking we could try many different dishes. That was not the case. Two chicken dishes and four vegetable dishes, but two of them were so similar it was basically the same thing. The rice was crunchy and inedible. It was my third or fourth time to the restaurant over the last few years, I kept going back because of the good reviews, I always thought I had been on a bad day. But I will never go back. All of the food looked old.
