Ive only gone once, but this ranks in the best Indian food I ever had. As you will read from many reviews, the service is really slow, but the food is definitely worth the wait! One of my favorite things they offer at this restaurant is letting you choose how spicy your entrees are. I love Indian food spicy, but my girlfriend does not, so this let us order what we wanted without her having to fear her mouth burning. The food is served in little copper pots, as sort of a stew. There is plenty of solid food in the pot, but there is also a lot of extra sauce that is good on rice or naan. The restaurant also had a very calming atmosphere with music just loud enough to drown out the other conversations in the restaurant without interfering with your conversation. What we got: Samosas (the order came with 2) - These were on the bigger side of samosas that I have had, and they were served 2 sauces that were both very good. They have a little spice to them, so unless you dont like things even a little spicy, I would highly recommend starting out with these. Naan bread - This was an extra side, the dishes are served with endless rice, but we like naan too. There wasnt anything special about it though, its a flat bread for those who dont know what it is. It is really good dipped in the sauce from the entree. Lamb Vindaloo - medium heat - I found this dish to be wonderful! It was packed with flavor without being too spicy. The flavors of the dish were all very well matched, and I would highly recommend the Vindaloo to anybody! I would personally suggest the chicken to people, as the lamb was a little tough, but I am not a lamb connoisseur, so I dont know if this is normal or not. It was delicious without a doubt, and I would order it again after I try everything else on the menu. Shrimp Masala - low heat - My girlfriend loved this dish. Im not a fan of shrimp, so I just had the sauce over rice, but it was very good. It was much milder in terms of how spicy, and how spiced it was, and it was a little creamy. I will probably try the chicken masala next time I go. She also told me this also reheated very well, so if you cant eat it all (we got a lot of food), this may be a good choice for you. Mango drink? - I cannot remember which one she ordered, but there are 2 smoothie like mango drinks on the menu. From what she told me (I am not a fan of mango) it was really good. The only thing that was wrong with it was the size, The glass is tall and thin, and probably only holds about 12 ounces, so I would recommend a glass of water to go with it.

I visited Taste of India on Mothers Day with some of my kids and my wife. We were seated in a dining room somewhat separated from the rest of the restaurant. It had two tables in it and both were occupied with guests. We were having a wonderful time laughing (good clean fun) and the people at the other table requested to be re-seated somewhere else. Oh, GEEZ did we feel bad. The owner assured us that it was perfectly ok. This brings me to my review. Graciousness in the face of adversity is that guys mantra! He was so nice! And the food here is absolutely fabulous. I used to eat in an Indian Restaurant in Surrey, British Columbia. It has a high population of Indian people. This restaurant is gourmet compared to the one in Surrey. The buttered chicken is my wifes favorite. I like to order the medium spiced so I can share the food with others who have more sensitive palates. The menu of this restaurant is quite large and I dont think there is a single thing on it that I wouldnt try. And if you are in the Cedar Rapids area, you owe it to yourself to visit this restaurant. I used to think I could take a pass easily on Indian cuisine. Now its one of my favorite restaurants and one that I consider a special place to dine.

Coming to Cedar Rapids for work, I had real doubts about the quality of the ethnic food in the area. So upon seeing high reviews for an Indian restaurant in the area, I was a bit skeptical. Fast forward to going to the destination. Once you go inside, youll be surprised how well decorated the restaurant is. The look inside really stands out amongst the other Indian restaurants Ive ever been to. I know you cant judge a book by its cover, but I had a good feeling about the place. The menu was also incredibly extensive. Had probably the most options and the most items Ive never seen before. Luckily we had an Indian person with us who could help us pick out some unique and recommended dishes. I ordered the Kadai fish and that was fantastic. We also got a bunch of other dishes but unfortunately I cant remember the names =T. This ended up being one of the best Indian food experiences Ive ever had. This is coming from having Indian food in London and Los Angeles. This is a real gem for the folks in Cedar Rapids to have such a great Indian restaurant. Highly highly recommend if you want Indian food, to com here.

The food was simply amazing at this restaurant. It has a very North Indian cuisine taste. Believe it or not, but the same dish cooked by chefs from different parts of India will taste different and have its own uniqute qualities. The service was great and the waiter did not bother us. Rather, he checked in on us periodically and was very mindful of how much water/soda was in our glasses. We went at night and the place was a bit chilly, but after having our dishes spicy hot, the cool air was definitely refreshing. Our meal was $34 (+ tip) and included 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, 1 soda, and 2 beers. To me that is an awesome bargain. The same order in Chicago will go for at least $50 + tip. Overall, I am very surprised that such great Indian food exists in Iowa (coming from Chicago and a native Indian, I know great Indian food when I taste it). I will defnitely be returning to this restaurant in the near future. I ordered the following: 1) Kadhaii Paneer (entree) 2) Dal Makhani (entree) 3) Samosa - 2pcs (appetizer) 4) Soda 5) Maharaja beer - 2 bottles

I went for the buffet and the food was ok. I am very familiar with Indian food and I thought it could have been better and a bit of a larger selection. There really was not much to serve as far as a buffet goes. Another problem I had was with the service. The service was just plain bad! We had to ask for our drinks three times before the waiter finally brought them out and it was slow on top of it. He was too busy talking on his cell phone than to get us some waters. I was so thirsty. Also, they kept running out of food. We had to wait about an additional 10 min just to get a plate because there was hardly any food left to be served and my boyfriend and I went in the middle of the buffet hours - not too late and not too early. I gave them one more shot by returning a week later and both times, I was very disappointed. I will be returning.
