This is the worst Indian restaurant I have ever eaten. The waiters do not respect the customer. Ordered one chicken biryani which is the worst biryani of my lifetime. The biryani is light green in color and I have never ever seen in my lifetime. It should be called as coriander rice with chicken on the side. The taste is really worst. Ordered chicken 65 which says it is spicy and it is like eating rocks. The chicken 65 is so hard. Ordered one Chicken Hariyali and 2 tandoori roti. The chicken Hariyali is supposed to be spicy with chillies and however chillies are almost quarter inch in size. I mentioned that I will not pay fo Chicken 65 and the waiter mentions that I have tasted the biryani and hence have to pay for it. While we are eating, couple of customers walked by and wants to seat near by the door which has 3 seats. The waiter denied both the customers as the seating is for 3 people and there are only two people. The customers were so frustrated and left the restaurant. I am really happy that the customers left as they will definitely find a better restaurant than this. The customers are lucky not to have this kind of food which is not even worth a penny. I will never ever visit this restaurant in my lifetime even if they offer free food or pay in return. I suggest not to visit this restaurant and find a better Indian restaurant. When I asked for the store manager number, they denied to give the number. They do not even care losing customers. Please for God sake, hire good waiters who can treat customers better. If there is an option to give negative rating, I would give this restaurant the least negative rating.

I do have a confession to make I dont like a whole lot of Indian places in Chi town which I like so I wasnt expecting this spot to be great either but it was a pleasant surprise. During our recent trip we were craving some good Indian food and decided to venture out of downtown area. The location of this area is quite unassuming and there are not a whole lot of eateries around this place. The place itself is not huge but has some decent seating area , the white wall background with dim lighting added up to the décor. They have a menu which is a good mix of traditional Indian and some Indian fusion(Indian Chinese) fare. We decided to try to both , we indulged in - * Gobi Manchurian - Tender pieces of cauliflower cooked in tangy, sweet and spicy sauce. Cauliflower is coated in a flour layer before tossed in sauces. * Paneer Masala - Indian cheese cubes cooked in creamy tomato sauce. * Lamb Biryani - Traditional basmati long rice cooked with curried meat. * Plain and garlic naan - Bread with butter and garlic flavor. First the food overall was really good.Gobi Manchurian is a must try it had some really good flavors. The entrée paneer dish was also tasty , we wanted little more spice so we got the Indian pickle on side($1 extra). Biryani was also really flavorful and it is recommended to pair it with raita(curd with mix veggies). It was definitely worth driving from downtown to eat at this restaurant.

Horribly inconsistent. I have been there over a dozen times and its really a toss up on whether or not the curry is a watery mess or done correctly. I usually order online so that there are no misunderstandings about what I want and the spice level. There is a section reserved for requests for each individual item when you order online. Often times this gets ignored. For example, I usually request more curry and less meat while also asking for it to be very spicy. More than half the time the request gets ignored. Its a shame because when they get the order right and its prepared correctly, its one of the better places in town. And short of being on Devon, the price is great, too. But youre still looking at around $15 per order and for that price, you shouldnt have to cross your fingers every time you order.

This place is run by the same people who use to run the Taj Mahal on Taylor by University Village. They were my go to place for good Indian food close to home. Unfortunately they sold it and now are focusing on this location. This location has the same dishes and then some. The prices are higher, not necessarily expensive (which I associate with the area). My go to dishes are tandoori chicken, gobi manchurian, the yellow daal dish, the mutter butter paneer, vegi briyani and of course my garlic noon. I am guaranteed to always like my food! It is delicious and flavorful. I also like the decor in the room. I like the tassles on the rugs on the wall. they look like dancing ladies.

Its one of the only Indian places on the west side of town, and its doing a great job of setting the bar high. I tend to avoid this place in the summer because their food is comfort food--piping hot, rich sauces, and really heavy spiced flavors. I forget the name of the really good thing I order all the time--something with vegetable balls covered in a red sauce (that is rich because there has to be a ton of ghee cutting the acid). But man, in the fall or winter, BYOB and head to Rangoli with a few people, split a few dishes so that you get to try a lot, and tell me you arent ready to put your pajamas on and crawl into bed with Netflix for satiated sleep.

Probably my current favorite indian restaurant. The "Gobi Manchurian" is incredible - bright red, fried cauliflower. Vegetarians check out the Palak Paneer, and everyone else needs to try the Madras Lamb Korma. The perfect amount of flavor and spice. The wait staff are friendly as well, I believe one of them is an actor judging from the giant movie poster in back. Theyre great with recommendations if you have a specific request or are just overwhelmed. BYOB and the wait can be long, get a reservation if you can. Prices are good, our table of 6 ate here (with appetizers and naan) for a little under $100.

This is the second time Ive ordered delivery from Rangoli. Both times I have wait two or more hours for my food to arrive. Last night I called the restaurant when it had been 90+ from my order time. The man on the phone called the delivery driver, then told me my food would arrive in 5 minutes. Twenty minutes later I was about to call to cancel the order when my food finally arrived. The food was actually pretty tasty, but it doesnt blow me away. Im definitely not willing to wait 2 hours for it, so I think Ill be ordering Cumin on Milwauke next time I want Indian food delivered.

very nice atmosphere though small - it gets busy very quickly. The food was some of the best Indian Ive ever had and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food. The food tends toward spicy even without the little pepper symbols, which is fine by me, but you can ask for milder if youre worried about the heat. There were several dishes on the menu that were new to me and Im pretty familiar with Indian, so it was fun to try something different. The service was attentive without being over-bearing. BYOB alert. Would definitely go back!

The quality of the food is great especially given the quickness its brought to the table. The quantity fits the image of a higher classed restaurant. The presentation doesnt quite match that image. The service is very attentive. The ambience is very intimate and date like. However, my overall enjoyment is quickly diminished with the pricing structure. In a vacuum of the neighborhood, its to be expected. When looking at the restaurant as a whole within the city, there are better options to be had at more competitive prices.
