So I bought a Groupon for this place. It was like $30 for $60 worth of food, so I bring two other people with me and we order $60 worth of food and we try our best. We started off with Fried Green Tomatoes (Dipped in seasoned batter, deep fried. With Parmesan grits & gravy), and we got the added crab meat for like $4 more. The tomatoes themselves were awesome. They were the diameter of about a soft ball, and they had a great meaty bite to them. The breading was light and wonderfully seasons. The grits were done just right. Perfect. Honestly, though, I dont think the crab meat added anything to the dish, so save your $4, please. Then we ordered a vegetable meal with three different sides to munch on, fried broccoli, french fries, and onion rings. The fried broccoli was awesome. Fried broccoli always it. Neither of the people I was with had ever had it before, so if youre one of those people, please try this. Its unexpectedly delicious. The french fries were eh. Skip them. The onion rings were good. They had a good batter-to-onion ratio, but I wish there had been more of them on my plate. We also had six of the Jalapeno Crackling Muffins. Six for only $5, and or server gave us seven. Score! They were good. Just imagine jalapeno cornbread in muffin form. I recommend them, if you plan on ordering the barbecue. Next we got our hands on the BBQ Ribs/Chicken/Pulled Pork Combo Platter. The ribs were actually not very good. They were overdone and chewy. Enough sauce helped me with them, but they just werent done right. I ended up not trying the chicken. All this food made me have to prioritize, and I just dont particularly care for BBQ chicken. The pulled pork wasnt pulled at all, but it was chunked and drizzled with sauce. These were actually very good. I enjoyed eating them with the muffins. Delish! The two sides we got with the BBQ platter were the hush puppies and the mac & cheese. Both are very good. The mac & cheese actually won best side item overall for me. Its in a little ramekin and the whole top of it seems like it was broiled so the cheese is a little crust, and its ooey gooey underneath. Please, have it! Finally, we ordered two types of chicken and waffles, butter pecan and sweet potato. The chicken wings that came with both of them were very good. Not at all greasy and seasoned well. Really good fried chicken. The only gripe I have is that I wish that there were other pieces to the chicken there other than just wings. Ask your server about this if you feel like you might feel the same way. The waffles were good. I preferred the butter pecan. Those pecans added a real nice bite to the dish. I actually didnt like the mashed sweet potato on top of the waffle that much. I didnt hate it, but the flavor just wasnt strong enough to make me think it was a good idea. Also, with the chicken and waffles, the only option for a sauce I was given was syrup. I love sweet chicken and waffles, but I would also like the choice between a sweet or a savory sauce to go with it. Honey mustard would have been appreciated. Overall, I had a great experience here. It was good, home-style cooking that you dont find in most places unless you want to pay an arm and a leg. Head for the chicken and waffles, but maybe steer clear of the BBQ platters. There are plenty other options on the menu. Im glad Groupon showed me this place, because I will be back.

I visited this location for the very first time as I had seen the commercials and was so excited that there was a soul food joint in the area that was reputable and had so many great reviews. Upon visiting, there was no one to greet me at the door. I wanted to order to go and because of the lack of front of house engagement, I could not tell where I was supposed to order, if I was supposed to sit and wait or if I needed to remain at the front and wait to be seated. After several strange looks from servers that did show up but passed me to wait on those sitting down, I thought that I was supposed to sit however once I did that, I received strange looks from others as if I was not supposed to sit. After approximately 15 minutes of being passed by, I want up to a line where people were coming up for food. I assumed that this may have been a place to order however the server looked at me strange and once a asked for what I wanted which was red velvet chicken and waffles, he says "you cant order that here." He was very un-accommodation and I was so embarrassed at that point that I didnt want to ask where I could place an order. I sat back down and finally (after approximately 30 minutes) a nice lady who just started her shift took my order. Once I placed my order, it was another 30 minutes before I got my food and was able to pay. My first experience was disappointing for one reason ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. I felt so neglected there that I walked away feeling like I offended someone in their establishment because it took the 4th person to come in and ask to take my order. The staff was not helpful and , quite frankly, i felt singled out sitting at table for nearly an hour with no food or even offered a drink of water while I waited. To be passed by that often with no kind look or to ask if I was okay was bothersome to me. It was as if they did not want my business and that I had not experienced before. As an African american coming in to abundantly support black business, I felt alienated. If the service were better, the food may have been great however to go through what I did to get the food, I was not able to enjoy what I bought. The staff should know what is going on in their front of house and keep all customers engaged so either they didnt know or they knew and just didnt care that I was even there. This is not the best way to have a first dining experience.

BEWARE!!!! ROACHES!!! BIG, SMALL, PREGNANT ONES AND ALL.... While on vacation in Orlando we read numerous reviews on yelp and, Google about the infamous Chef Eddies Restaurant. We had to try this place for ourselves. My family and I absolutely love breakfast food so we were so excited to have found a place with great reviews. This place is a dump!! The neighborhood is sketchy, not to mention the decor is old and outdated. We decided to try our luck even after our 5 year old son was skeeved with this place. He noticed the fish were swimming in dirty water and he also mentioned that the restaurant looked dirty. He didnt want to eat here. We really should have left based on the looks alone but, we wanted to believe the reviews and judge the restaurant based on the food. We ordered blueberry/butter pecan chicken & waffles, grits, pancakes, bacon and eggs. The food was mediocre, nothing at all what the reviews had raved about. The butter pecan waffles were overcooked and the grits were undercooked. AND THEN CAME THE ROACHES.....EEK!!! BREAKFAST WAS OVER!! WE REALLY SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO OUR SON AND RAN AWAY. THE FIRST ROACH CAME OUT AND I HONESTLY THOUGHT IT WAS A PECAN THAT FELL BUT, IT WAS MOVING.... IT RAN SO FAST THAT I KNEW WHAT I SAW WAS REAL. MY HUSBAND TRIED TO PUT A NAPKIN OVER IT TO STOMP ON IT BUT, IT MOVED SO SWIFTLY INTO ONE OF THE MANY CRACKS IN THE WALL THAT HE COULDNT CATCH IT. AS WE SAT THERE IN UTTER SHOCK, WE NOTICED A BABY ROACH CRAWLING AROUND AS WELL. IT WAS NOW PAST TIME TO LEAVE... WE HAD OVERSTAYED OUR WELCOME. Needless to say, we got the hell out of this dump and, prayed that we dont get sick or bring any roaches home with us. All in all, I have learned a valuable lesson from this experience. Some books should be judge by its cover. Try at your own risk...
