Food is just fine, but the service was horrible. I should even say the staff lacked courtesy towards us making the whole experience worse. I went for the buffet served during the dinner hours. The dosas are usually served by the waiters - first when you start the buffet and subsequently when you ask for it. When I asked for another dosa, the guy asked me at least three times if I really wanted an "extra" dosa, kind of making me weirdly conscious of my order to the extent that I thought the subsequent dosas are usually charged even along with the buffet, which I realized was not true only when we saw the check. The other part of our experience was utterly shocking. We had a third friend who joined us but didnt opt for the buffet option. Instead he ordered a Dosa, which actually costed as much the buffet, but he tasted a bite out of my second friends plate while waiting for his order. To this one of the waiters, who wasnt actually serving people and rather guarding the place like bouncers at a club, said to his colleague "Inko 3 buffet ka laga de!" (Yes, this statement was in Hindi), which means "Charge them for 3 buffets" and quite audibly to all of us. All this after they had spent around 20 minutes preparing a single dosa for my friend who only out of curiosity tasted a bite from one of the average tasting dosas. But luckily they didnt charge for the third buffet which would have made my review a bit more acrimonious. But they didnt fail from mentioning and then cancelling a third buffet in the check. We so wanted to suggest the manager/owner of the place the experience we had, but all I could see were these people (waiters) managing the whole restaurant themselves. Now, the least we could do now was not pay the tip to make our point very clear and write my experience as a review here. P.s. I respect waiters very much and I seldom write contempt about the service at places I eat at. But this was one exception.

I dont know who the people are writing the previous reviews, but it feels like they went to a different restaurant. We go almost every other week for the lunch buffet with our two kids (ages 6 and 4), and the staff could not be nicer. They refill our water glasses frequently, they always remove our plates when they are done, they bring us fresh naan whenever we want it, and if there is ever a problem, they resolve it immediately. The food is always delicious and they try to switch up the buffet options. My kids devour the dosas. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are not very clean and in a dimly lit place.

The food for the most part is awful. But the service and courtesy is completely lacking. The only thing we liked was the Dosa... without question. The lamb seekh (skewered)kebab was just tolerable, not skewered and just fried. The chiken tikka was disgusting and tasteless. I am not going back. Update: Decided to give this place another chance with a pickup order. The person taking the order was so rude and condescending and he hung up on me after telling me to go somewhere else, when I pointed out that he was being rude. I am speechless. This place is plain unbelievably bad!

I really like Dosa Grill as it reminds me of another place back from State College called Indian Pavilion. Its got a decent selection for their lunch buffet (not as wide as Indian Pavilion), but its pretty good quality. Their naan is mouth-watering and something I crave on occasion. Their dinner menu has a much greater selection. I ordered similar items from their buffet like their lamb masala. The lamb itself was so tender and melted in your mouth. Out of three Indian places I visited so far around this area, I like Dosa Grill the most. Thank you for being here.

I recommend Dosas lunch buffet to those who are new to Indian food. Their lunch buffet is very reasonably priced, and they offer different menu items, and rotate the variety regularly. It gives you the chance to try a little of everything, and because they make great food here, youll find plenty to like! The wait staff are not always as attentive as they could be, but they are very friendly. Each meal comes with a complementary dosa, (think Indian crepe) and naan (delicious flat bread). Definitely worth visiting, one of my regular lunchtime meeting stops.

Similar to other comments, the food was good but the service was unacceptable. The dumb waiters had the audacity to turn off the lights while I was still eating my damn dosa. Moreover, there was a group of 6 - 7 people who were having wine after dinner and chatting that you would normally do with friends around. This waiter started cursing at them in the background, of course in Hindi because he did not have balls to do that in English. Long story short, customer service is a problem with this restaurant and it is appalling when you see that happening.

Theres no other way to say this... This place sucks. They only prepare food one way, which means that everything gets the same sauce that was prepared ahead of time... and it is awful at that. It takes like an Indian version of Dinty Moore Beef Stew, which is insulting to Dinty Moore. OK... the service was good and the prices were OK, but when the best thing in an Indian restaurant are the bread and rice, better not to go. My Indian friends say they leave the food and go, quite displeased. I agree.

My favorite Indian food around syracuse. To be honest I always get food to go so cannot speak on the dining experience besides my time in the restaurant picking up food. But the staff is respectful and professional. The atmosphere inside seems quaint, small, quiet, and intimate. Food is authentic, and portions are large. I always get the chili chicken masala spicy with a side of coconut naan! Would definitely recommend if you like Indian cuisine.

Its definitely one of the better Indian buffets Ive been to and I have been to a large number. The selection there is usually quite good and the food is tasty. My only criticism would be that sometimes the waiters forget to bring you more water, which is very important at a flavorful Indian restaurant! However Ive been happy each time Ive been there, and I look forward to coming back in the future.

Very authentic indian cuisine. We were disappointed that they didnt have the buffet set up the evening we went, but admittedly we did not read into it carefully, and probably would have found that out sooner if wed researched more thoroughly before wed gone. The food itself was excellent though, the staff was friendly, and the waitress let us try one of their desserts on the house.

We sat for 20 minutes before someone even gave us water. I hate to think that our service was racially biased, but we noticed how all of the other patrons (all white) received their food before us even though we ordered first. They were also checked on and asked how their meals were. No one ever asked us (two Black women) or even stopped by our table to refill our water.

Got take out for lunch - guy on the phone was polite, guy at the pick-up was very friendly. Two dosa (one plain, one color) with papdi chat for $20 - great deal. Packaging on the take-out was perfect, and the dosa is fabulous... has that perfect golden color, not overcooked, not under. Well definitely be going back to try the rest of their menu!
